plan is to have headquarters at lions. We will play 5th street first then lions for the afternoon round. if we have more players then holes then we will have ams play lions first then 5th. and open the opposite.

Will this be a PDGA sanctioned event?

seewhere
Mar 05 2009, 10:13 AM
not sure yet on sanctioning as I still dont know what that will get me other then paying them $2 a head for ratings and points. Does it matter to you if it is sanctioned or not? will always listen to the players.

Daygamer
Mar 05 2009, 11:21 AM
Doesn't matter either way. Here's some of what you might get though:

Benefits of Program: Charity Events: $50 Sanctioning Fee $50 Proof of Insurance (if needed) *** Application must be received a minimum of 45 days prior to the event! *** $2 PDGA per player fee is donated to the event charity and must be matched by the event A min. of 25% of entry fees must be donated to event charity in addition to $2 PDGA per player fee. $10 non-current member fee is waived or may be charged by the TD and donated to the event charity along with the $2 PDGA per Player fee (matched by event) and 25% of entry fees. Event charity must be a 501(c)(3) entity

I don't know how many non-PDGA members show up, but charging them $10 or $5 and letting that go to the charity could be a good thing.

A little sorry the Rivery won't get the love it did last year from your parents but I'll be willing to make the drive to Temple sanctioned or not.

As a PDGA member, sanctioning is definitely a plus for me when looking at tournaments to play. Not to say that I wouldn't play if not sanctioned.

MattyInRR
Mar 05 2009, 06:51 PM
I'd like it to be sanctioned... an extra 2 bucks is totally worth getting the ratings and points

MattSink
Mar 05 2009, 10:51 PM
If I'm donating my entry fee to a good players pack then I don't care about getting a rating. But if the player pack sucks then I would rather get rated then nothing.

John - my understanding (and I could be wrong, & this may have changed) is that in order to qualify for the PDGA "Charity" program you have to have a 501c3 charity. Neither the club nor this event has a 501c3. We're looking into it as a club, but in the past the expense has outweighed the perceived benefit. With this being a no frills kind of event - in that we REALLY do give everything we can to Chance - I think a players pack would be a waste of time, $, & your closet space - I mean really how many bags of scwhag do we need each year to feel like we're getting our fair share from disc golf? Not to say I dont want it sanctioned also it was my only win last year

Kette_Master
Mar 06 2009, 11:05 AM
The event can qualify under the Competition Endowment Program as long as you donate to any 501c3 charity. The club doesn't have to have 501c3 status.

seewhere
Mar 06 2009, 01:26 PM
the donations go to my nephews college fund so that is not a 501C3 charity.. I will see what I can do about sanctioning. but for sure there is no players packs unless someone wants to donate me a bunch of stuff to give away. Like Laura said this is a charity event that benefits my nephew who lost his father my brother over 5 years ago. :(

courses are looking awesome

Yes they are. SeeWhere and I went up this past saturday morning to help with clean up and ob marking....We only got to do a little before the rains hit, but the city had some kids out there with bags and gloves picking up trash all over the course. So needless to say, it looked great (Lions). Did not make it over to 5th Street course, but I'm sure the Temple boys have it going on there as well............Only 2-people signed up so far?? From what I have heard from Temple guy's its going to be close to 100 players before all is said and done, and its for a great cause.............Chance Ware!! Hope to see all there...

Chris, I'm almost 100% sure I'll play Saturday. Back was much better today. I will go to Temple Friday and warm up and play a few holes and see how it feels. If something happens and I can't play, don't refund the money(since it is for a good charity) but put the entire amount into the charity. Again I'm almost sure I'll play but if something happens I'll let you know Friday Eve. LT

The Double R Disc Golf Club cabinet has voted to have a $250 ace pot for all current club members (both rounds) @ the Flying Solo this Saturday in Temple. This is in addition to the Grimmley Kitty ace challenge ($50 to player, $50 to Chance) & the $5 per person ace pot for the event. Not a current Double R Disc Golf Club member? $25 to join (includes club t shirt & member tag), $10 to renew (no shirt or tag - member tag may be available for $5 if it was ordered). See Edman or Lala to check club status or renew/join Friday @ doubles or Sat early. Not current - no club ace - no questions.

Vinnie's right........lets just go get them young bucks and have fun......besides LT, your not going to cash anyway!! He He He He...Just joking Larry, we will just have to "step our game up"....and with almost 20-masters, the payout for the winner could be a car payment or a small vacation, or a taxi back from Temple.....
