If you have not already renewed or joined the PDGA for 2009, it's a good thing you waited because all current PFDS members will be eligible to receive a $5 discount off the PDGA annual membership fee. Details will be posted here shortly.

As part of the Affiliate Club Program, current members of the PFDS can save $5 off their 2009 PDGA membership! It's simple....

1) Complete a PDGA enrollment form and make check payable to the PFDS.....$45 for ams......$70 for pros.

2) The PFDS will bundle the memberships and send one payment to the PDGA and viola!....you save five bucks! :)

*(Please note this discount is only avaible to current members of the Pittsburgh Flying Disc Society......$10 yearly membership....$80 lifetime membership).

We will be starting our first membership drive this Sunday, January 25 at the Deer Lakes Monthly and we will have plenty of membership forms available. Any memberships collected will be remitted to the PDGA on January 31. We will then collect the second batch of memberships at the following events:

Knob Hill Monthly (Mixer) ~ Sunday, February 8

Schenley Park Ice Bowl ~ Saturday, February 14

Not only does a PFDS membership save you $5 off your PDGA membership for 2009, here are a few other benefits to joining our local club of disc enthusiasts:

* Receive a yearly or lifetime membership card
* 10% off club merchandise, golf discs, etc.
* 10% off disc golf merchandise at Scholl's Bicycle Center
* Eligibility to participate in The Invitational at Moraine (a member-only event this year)
* Avoid the extra $1 Monthly league fee charged to non-PFDS members
* Support disc golf in Western Pennsylvania

I will be emailing the blank registration forms to the players I have in my email address book. If you are not on my email distribution list, please contact me at the following address:

[email protected]

Thanks! I look forward to seeing everyone on the course(s) this year! :D

If I give you the money, will you have it in before Feb 7th, as I will be playing a tournament in Orlando....well maybe if my back heals. But Lori will at least be playing. If you can have it in that soon, maybe I will bring it to Deer Lakes.

If we collect five or more membership renewals at the Deer Lakes Monthly tomorrow, we will go ahead and register those memberships with the PDGA and not wait until the 31st. The sooner the better!......and as posted above, the next bundle of memberships to be registered will be collected during the Schenley Ice Bowl on February 14. :)

p.s. If any of you are going to pay by check, make sure the check is made payable to the PFDS and not the PDGA. Better yet, wait to complete your check until you are filling out the membership form (we'll have plenty of forms available at Deer Lakes, Knob Hill and Schenley).

Kurt Poole is now handling the PDGA memberships & renewals for our club members. He will have membership forms available this weekend at Deer Lakes as well as future monthlies.

If you are a PFDS member and you want to join or renew your PDGA membership for 2009, you can save $5.00 by remitting payment through our local club. As a reminder, the Ironwood Open at Moraine (April 18-19) is a B-tier event and non-current PDGA members will be required to pay a $10 non-member fee to play in the tournament. For our big event in August, the Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open, all competitors must be current PDGA members to play in that A-tier tournament. An extra ten bucks won't get you into the big dance! Don't delay.....join today! :)

That is correct. I currently have one PDGA membership that needs sent in. I was planning on sending all PDGA membership in at one time. If you would like to renew or join the PDGA I'll be sending the forms and money to the PDGA at the end of the month. That way you will be current for the Ironwood Open. Deadline for this is bulk shipment will be March 31st.
