I am traveling next week to Arizona and really want to take my discs. Has anyone had any problems traveling with their gear? Can you carry it on? Do you have to check it?

These may seem like dumb questions, but I dont want to show up at the airport and have to leave my discs behind.

Thanks,

Stephen

Carry most if not all of them on. The only thing that sometimes shows up on the X-ray to flag your bag is heavy weight minis. Your bag is considered a "personal item" like a women's purse so you can still have a carry-on also without checking a suitcase if you don't need to.

I always carry my discs on the plane, I alway open up the top to expose the discs so they don't freak out (discs show up as solid black)

I had to remove all the junk from the pockets one time, but that was because there was change, 6ft tape measure, towel rings and other assorted junk.

I usually keep my book and important paperwork in the pocket too. What is nice is that I have some quad shocks so it is just as easy to carry as a back pack. Plus other disc golfers usually come up and say hi. (yes, it has happened a few times many years ago)

i bought a revolution dual pack specifically to use as a carry on. you can care more discs than you need in the bottom and books, magazines, ipod and whatever else is handy for travel in the sides. i personally use the top for dg shoes/socks and have plenty of room for other things up there as well. you could fit a jacket, sweatshirt or change of clothes up there if need be.

I flew out to KC a few years back and took my Carolina Revo bag with me. I carried it on as I did not want to lose it.

I got a funny look from the woman attending the x-ray at BWI and I told her they were frisbees (much easier than trying to explain golf discs /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif). She called another guy over and said "He says they are frisbees." The gentleman looked at them and I explaind DG to him a little. He thanked me for the explanation and sent me on my way. The guys in the KC airport didn't even blink an eye. They totally knew about DG.

The bag fit quite nicely in the overhead compartment. I now have a dual pack and I am sure that it would be a perfect carry on as Paul said. Either way, carry it on. I wouldn't trust my bag to the throwers. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
