We're wanting to sanction our Ice Bowl as an XC Tier event, and want to raise extra $$$ by allowing players to purchase mulligans. Is this allowed in competition seeing as its for charity, and only an XC Tier?

yes you can have it sanctioned as an x-tier event and have mulligans, but you wont get ratings

basically you should just raise the entry fee, add a raffle, or some sort of pay ctp to add money to the charity instead of mulligans, if you want the round rated. our club was dealing with this issue, and opted to have it a regular c-tier and add money for the charity in other ways.

Well we're already doing pay CTP's through cash and canned goods, but thanks for the link.

I ran my Ice Bowl as an XC-Tier with mulligans last year and it worked out well. True, we didn't get the rounds rated, but that's not really the point of an Ice Bowl. Players did get points, and they did get another sanctioned event under their belt and listed on PDGA.com.

Mulligans are a FANTASTIC way to raise money at an Ice Bowl, especially if you have more than one round so players who are behind can stock up! I watched one player cash in FOUR mulligans trying to make a putt - glad the money went to our charity 'cuz it didn't go towards a birdie! We raised an extra $250 from 40 players, and still raised more money from our auction.
