I'm just wondering what kind of interest there is in a Mixed Doubles tournament in the Madison area sometime in later Novemeber.
I'm looking into running some tournaments in the next year and figure I would start out small!

The format would be partners (obviously 1 male & 1 female)
2 Rounds of 18 holes
Best Shot first round and Alternate Shot second round.
I was thinking of an entry few around $30 per team with 100% payout.

Please respond if this sounds like something you would be interested in.

Sounds cool. Let me know if you need any help. I would be interested in help sponsoring the events Chris.

Can't promise anything with it being in Madison and I'm in Central WI but me and Julaine have always wanted to play in a doubles tourney together just never have made the choice to do so.

Maybe just maybe.

Thanks for stepping up with the idea and good luck either way.

TeamJustice would be a sponsor...and I would like to suggest a format for the first round that we think works better than best shot

Both players tee off
Both players throw their second shots from their partners lie
Then they choose which shot they like best
From there the player whose shot is not used throws next
Alternate after that until the hole is complete

So each shot used is from different partner
Best shot can become singles sometimes in mixed

I think it would be a great thing to do. You don't see many around and event the events that are offered as doubles events rarely have an actual "mixed" division.

November is a busy month for Carla and I but we would see what we could do to make it there...Sundays work best for us!

Right now I'm looking at Sunday, Novemeber 23rd. Though I'm willing to change the date inorder to draw a few more players if there are conflicts with the 23rd. I'll post some more details on Wednesday after I talk with a 'real' tournament director about a few questions I have.

Now that it has been a few weeks I just thought I'd ask if there were any results or details posted? I'm not so curious about the actual winners or placing but more about how the event was received and how many participated.

I know it was Wisconsin and it was the opening weekend of deer hunting. I also know it was somewhat short notice (Chris' words) but I think it was a great idea and I hope that it worked.

I apologize if these answers were in fact posted somewhere else. These days there are dozens of message boards and last time I checked the Madison Club one I didn't see any answers there either.

PS - If you don't get to it or don't have time - no biggie. Just thought I'd ask.

I thought the tournament went well. Mike Batka was gracious enough to open the Glide store for the players meeting Sunday morning and WiDye discs helped out with the trophys! Granted this was a last minute idea and the tournament DID take place in late November on Opening Weekend of Deer Hunting. I originally had 12-15 teams interested in playing though the cold weather and short notice may have been a factor. It sounded like everyone who participated had a great time and would be willing to do it again. I especially found the Hybrid Alternate/Best shot round to be very fun! I plan on holding the 2nd Mad City Mixed Doubles tournament next fall possibly in September or October. I would be more than willing to coordinate with the State Coordinator (Terry) so it won't interfere with other WI events. With proper advertising and a years notice (vs. less than a month) I could see the tournament attracting a few more people. I hope to attract enough participants to have several different divisions next year.
Terry, let me know what your thoughts are.

I'm looking to hold another Mixed Doubles Tournament this fall though it will most likely be at Lustig Park in Janesville. I'm looking to run a similar event as last year though it will be held a little earlier in October. 2 Rounds consisting of a Best Shot & Modified Alternate shot round. I'm open to any suggestions to help attract as many participants as possible. I'll have more details up in August.
