He might have about 3 minutes during Lunch at the Can-Am cup for you to give it to him ;)
If you want, I'll pay your entry at the cup to Josh, and you can pay me back?

TD Anything special need done for the event? Course prep. or?

I think I can speak for the TD(s) by saying we can always use course prep!......especially from a mule like you, hitman. :D

Sep 11 2008, 12:55 PM
well Hitman.... thanks for your inquiry here and your lack of a personal phone call for the last month. :o
Man, you been hiding with Osama or something?!? I was thinking you may have dropped off the face of the earth.
anyway, thats neither here nor there.....
here is what I was thinking anyone who cares could do...
go out and play the course! enjoy yourself!
and while you are out having fun, if you really want to help, PLEASE PICK UP AS MUCH GARBAGE/LITTER that you can. for some reason peeps cant comprehend the pack it in, pack it out philosophy. ::shrugs::
you could also pick up as much debris as you feel like moving to a "happy place".... this includes the piles that the backhoes created during stump removal. baskets are in tourney position so the greens around the current locations are what should be focused on for debris.
other than that I think its covered man. the course is looking the best it ever has! The Hunt is soon approaching.... Are you in?!?

Sep 12 2008, 08:29 AM
I played the course last night and it's lookin' good!
If you are planning to play The Hunt at Deer Lakes, please help make the TD's lives easier by pre-registering for the event. Pre-registration makes a HUGE difference for tournament staff in starting the tournament on time (unlike a line of 30 players waiting to register on Saturday morning...)

YEAH... WHAT HE SAID!!!!!!
and btw Jerry, I got your meesage last night and that was already on the list buddy. thanks though.

so DS was off work yesterday and he walked the course. We are glad to report that no major damage was had due to the Sunday night wind storm. He did say ridiculous amounts of leaves and debris fell, however, being the stellar dudes that they are, Mike Dutch's crew will be hard at work mowing everything this week and that should take care of that. He is also going to try and cut everything again next week. The course is already looking AWESOME, it should be in prime shape for next weekends tourney!
also, if you know you are playing The Hunt and you are able to please pre-reg. If you wait til Saturday, whelp, you gots to cough up an extra 5 bones and I'll probably have some type of ball-buster comment for you. Im not a morning person, if you can, make my life a little easier and your tourney experience a little smoother. ;)
thanks yinz.

this is killing me. I might not be able to play. My friends band GUEST is playing a show Friday night in Athens in celebration of their 10 year anniversary. They haven't played a show in almost 2 years and I really want to see all of my old friends from college. ARRRGHGH. hmh

I just wish this tourny would move dates. I can never make a tourny that is the last weekend in Sept (Winefest in Erie and have a huge party at my house every year). I'm all for the IUP / DL - Sat Sun combo like the old IO2 in the spring.

chances of a spring tourney at Deer Lakes are slim to none. Its too messy. ground drains like poo.

Sep 22 2008, 10:29 AM
Wow.....
I'm the only one registered in the Open division....where are the other players? Please make it easy on the TD's and pre-register before Saturday morning.....besides that, by pre-registering you'll avoid paying the $5.00 late fee for Saturday signups.

I'll be there as will Dave Olcott, Sid Olcott, and Tim Wright. I imagine there will be others like J Gary, etc, etc.... Also, how much added cash is in the Open division?

Ah, yes.....the Hunt is only days away and I be gettin' excited! My back feels significantly better after Saturday's 8+ hours of clearing the mess (http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc184/gotcherj/DSC_5037.jpg) that Ike left behind in our yard. (http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc184/gotcherj/DSC_5041.jpg) Luckily, no trees fell on our house or my basket! (http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc184/gotcherj/DSC_5096.jpg) :)

oh man, is it ever getting close...
Chris, added cash directly to open... there will be $500. I am still trying to pry some funds out of a few people that said yes, then I dont know, then no, then yes. Its rough round these parts nowadays, so we'll see if the checks come through and more dinero presents itself.
if you havent been to the course in the last week the following has occurred....
1. A HURRICANE!!! Im not going to lie... There is small debris everywhere. DS and I did about 10 hours total of playing and removing everything of size. The park is going to mow the whole course and chop up as much as possible. It should look like its typical great self come Saturday morning.
2. #7's BLUE and WHITE tees got graded flat and a thin layer of small gravel applied to the tee area. The mound in front of the tees is now leveled off and all of nine fairway is visible upon walkup. It looks really good now and there is no more hillside mound and brush to contend with during the tee shot. I know that'll make some folks happy. :D
2. #10 WHITE tee now has a tie-wall built and the tee has been graded level. DS did a WONDERFUL job building this and it truly looks great. BLUE tee, due to lack of materials as of now, will be positioned on the access road and all rocks and debris will be removed to make the tee as fair and level as possible for the tourney. A level graded tee in its permanent home is not far behind, unfortunately, it could not be completed for the Hunt.
thats all for now. Wish me luck. this is my first tourney.

scores are posted. round ratings are not accurate as of yet because I still need to get the tee assignments and things down. right now I think it is seeing everyone as playing the same layout.
should be fixed later today (as its about 5am Sunday).....
thanks again to everyone that came out. The rain sucked, but other than that I know I had a blast and I hope everyone else did as well.

I think I speak for many by saying "thank you" to Stella and DS for a really fun tournament at Deer Lakes yesterday. The course prep was awesome so hats off to those two and the park maintenance crew. Last, but not least, congrats to all the winners!
Good times..... :)

I can't say enough of a thankyou to Dan and Stella for a greatly ran tournament. The pint glasses are great... Milissa was stoked to see that I brought home something she liked. The course was the best it has ever looked... I thought some of the fairways were so pretty that I wanted to sit down and have a picnic.
Congrats J. Gary, Stella and most impressively the Lady Poole. I had a strange feeling she could win the open and for her first open, she gets her first open victory. I think I might have to make something for Mrs. Poole to commemorate her victory. A sort of tribute trophy for a job well done.

Some may have noticed that the new player ratings came out today, but without inclusion of the rounds at Deer Lakes for the 2008 Hunt.
Stella reports that he called PDGA immediately to inquire why, although the TD report was filed within a week of the event and all fees paid as well, no one at PDGA informed the TD of any reason the scores were not made official.
No answer was given, although Membership Manager Addie Isabel said she would find out. Josh will follow up tomorrow
