Two weeks ago I submitted the sanctioning agreements for three C tiers and since then I have sent off a few follow up e-mails; I have yet to receive a response from Gentry or the PDGA in general. I have already paid the sanctioning fees but my events aren't on the calendar nor is online sign up activated. The first event is on July 5, less than three weeks away. I hate to complain or sound like I'm whining, but I'm starting to lose patience. Perhaps I sent them to the wrong address...
[email protected] ... isn't that right? I ran an event back in March that went really smooth and the PDGA was right on top of most everything. Can somebody tell me whats going on?
Confused,

I'd call the office..... 706-261-6342
anytime I've ever had an issue or needed an answer calling the office seemed to get me there alot faster.

Thanks, just called and they told me that they would be added to the calendar today. My faith in the pdga has been restored!

Another instance of people mistakenly thinking that this message board is a primary means of communication.
Pick up the phone and give them a call. It really does work.

What is the primary means of communication within the pdga? I thought that email was a big one, but after not recieving anything for two weeks I started to question that. Whenever I have had questions in the past the message board has provided me with adequate answers from people with more experience than me. I will be less hesitant to call in the future.

If this is truly the case, then the contact links should be taken down. Someone is always posting that phone calls are better than emails but the contacts page provides for sending the intended recipient an email and not a phone call.
Besides, it's really only the tour manager that often fails to respond to emails from unfamiliar senders. This is not the case for all of the names on the contacts page. It is not the senders fault for expecting a response they first time they go through this.

I had the same problem, no response until I called. Similarly, the PDGA signup program was over 1 month after it was supposed to be up and even several weekly calls about this did not move the process any faster. Again, following this pattern, its been over 2 months and I have yet to receive a response from the committee that works on the Endowment program. I'll give them a call later today but there does seem to be a pattern here. I'm not asking for everything to be done as soon as I send agreements in, I'm just asking for a "realistic" schedule so I can plan around that.

Email is GREAT! However, if you are running into a problem it is easy to call the office instead of sitting around and waiting for a reply is all.

Email should ALWAYS be considered an unreliable communication mechanism. Convenient, yes; Quick, yes; reliable; no. Does email usually work? Yes. But between the broken by design (due to abuse) implementations of SMTP and automated spam filtering and human spam filtering, email is sometimes lost.

If that is true (which I only believe it is if the PDGA is using Yahoo or MSN) and the PDGA believes this to be true, then why, when I click on the "Contact" tab does it only give me an option to e-mail indirectly and makes no mention of specific phone numbers? They should have a disclaimer saying "The e-mail you are sending may or may not make it to the person you are trying to contact. For better assistance, check the message board for phone numbers of the person you are trying to contact."

Are you implying that every web site with a contact button issue the disclaimer? Get real. Email has always been considered unreliable (or at least for the last 20 years that I've been using it).
The PDGA office phone number is plastered all over the web site. It's not really hard to find. It's even on the Contact tab.

I agree . And this is not just a disc golf thing . I hvae gone to WEB PAGES of many a company and contacts have nothing but an email and of course 9 chances out of 10 I dont get a response . Give phone numbers all the time .
ALong that line , I have called the PDGA many times for questions and always get a response alot quicker then the email system .

The thing is that he shouldn't have even had to email them about getting his tournament up on the tourpage. Same thing happened when I was going through the sanctioning process a while back.
