Anyone else still having problems logging on? Just checking. Usually if it goes down it comes right back up, but it's been down for a few days now.

Yep. The message board is probably gone. As many of you know, Nez hosts our website as one of his "guest" sites under his business website account. He has provided us with "free" hosting on his account for the last couple/few years. The week before last, he was fooling around with the database on his account without remembering that I was using the database for holding virtually ALL of message board information. We have enjoyed a HUGE increase in reliability when I ported the message board over to the mySQL database backend.
However, Nez completely wiped out our old database when he started trying to setup the database for his own use and experimentation. I had a month-old backup, but it is only usable if I can get logged in so that I can perform a restore. Since the database got whacked, I can't login under ADMIN either... :(
I'm going to work on swinging the HFDS.org website over to my account and then installing some new message board software since it all going to have to be rebuilt from scratch again.
Sorry gang...there just isn't any "quick" fix for this one.
We have a club meeting tomorrow night and I'll ask for club's blessing to make this all happen.

I know there's probably a lot of people complaining. I just appreciate it greatly as a communication tool that connects us disc golfers into a community. Thanks for all your hard work and past efforts.

Ohhhhhh SNAP!
Ching - we do appreciate your very time consuming efforts as webmaster! Bummer your having to do it all over again.
We do thank you (&Nez) for giving us the forum.
Hang in there.

Anybody know this guy?
This Week's Disc Golfer of Distinction
Larry Kruse
Larry Kruse has been instrumental in managing the HFDS (Houston Flying Disc Society) for the past 4-5 years. He volunteers every chance he gets to help others plan, run, and promote events including this year when he helped with the 2008 Houston Ice Bowl. Larry has spent nearly every weekend for the last year helping to raise over $1000 for the added cash at this years incredibly successful Texas States Championships. He is the first person many Houston Disc Golfers go to when they need help or advice on running tourneys and promoting the sport in general. He is just a great guy and deserves some recognition.
For his past and ongoing dedication to the promotion of the sport of disc golf, Larry Kruse is this weeks winner of the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction award.
Sorry the picture didn't make the paste.

heh-heh-heh...
I sent an old photo of myself to them but thankfully it was cropped a bit...
I was pointing to Z-Boaz #5 bag tag from 2003 that I somehow scraped off from Toolen on a very bad day. :D
I e-mailed him the picture one time just to razz him about it, but the address I had for him bounced. :(
Anyone still talking with ol' Steamboat? [insert evil grin smiley]

I nominated Larry when I first saw this because he was the first person to really welcome Tracy and myself into the HFDS community and I saw over time how much effort he put into the club and local activities. Be sure to nominate people when you see them going that extra mile for DG in our area. I'm pretty sure there are others in TX that we know are deserving...

Vinnie - Check your PMs, but in a nutshell, it looks like one of your SPAM filters might've snagged the unlock key. When you register, it sends you an e-mail with a link you have to follow to enable your new account. Find that e-mail and click on it and you should be all set to go.
Send me an e-mail if you can't find your note and we'll get it working. I figured out how to do it manually if I have to...:D...[don't even ask!]
