Thought I might need to make it's own post for discussion so it stays fresh! I have a cheesy flyer but don't know how to post it here (and don't know how you guys make those Kickin' ones).
Backwoods Bash 2008 - June 7th - Chester, Arkansas
Play begins at 1:00.
We are going to have a mini / dinner/ party in Chester Arkansas (dead center between Ft. Smith and Fayetteville) at Alma Willie's house. It is going to be mainly for fun, and also to benefit the AlmaGreens tourney! It will be played mini style, with a small pay in ($5), with groups playing as they get a group together to go out on the course. A person can also play multiple rounds, if they wish, but they must pay in each time, and only their best round will be counted. $1 of the entry fee will go to Alma Greens and $1 to an Ace Pot, with a possible kick in of some discs to the ace pot as well. Play will officially end at 7:00 for tabulation of scores and payout. There will at least be three divisions for (Am Men, Pro Men and Women). With good turnout we could go to Junior and Intermediate divisions).
There will be child care available for the ladies so they can play their round(s) too!!!
There will be burgers and hot dogs provided, Bring Your Beverage of Choice, as all we will have is water. You will be asked to give a donation for the dinner, and all donated moneys will go towards Alma Greens as well.

Here is a map link to help locate the course.
http://apps.geostor.arkansas.gov/imf/imf.jsp?session=4018
Get off of I540 at Exit 34 (chester) and turn right. Go through town (don't blink) and once you pass the green Convenience store take a left over the tracks, and then an immediate right on West Front Ave. We are 3/4 of a mile out on the right, with a rcok with our name on it at the end of the drive.
I would give a mapquest or etc map, or give you the address, for those of you with GPS in the cars, but it does no good. They will take you down the right side of the RR tracks, and our road is on the WRONG side ;) ( I mean left side) /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif of the track.
I'll have signs up to lead the way, so just get to the Exit #34.

Here is the link to the course map. It will look a bit different when all finished, but this gives a pretty good idea.

All right, looks like we are going to be able to pump out 14 holes for the Bash if all goes well. But, Chris had a pretty good thought on it about something we could do.
So here are the options:
#1 We can stick with the original plan of playing through the holes (14 of them) as many times as possible, at $5 per round, between 1:00 and 7:00pm. This will also allow people to come when they want to play, as long as they finish by 7:00.
#2 Or we can play 9 holes, like a tourney start with groups on different holes, then when all nine are finished, we can have a break while baskets are put in alternate locations and then play through nine again. Once this round is over, scores will be tabulated and a winner declared.
OK so let's put it to a vote! Let me know what you think.

OK Someone tell me how to get my chessy flyer uploaded onto here please.
What format does it have to be in?
I did mine on WordPerfect at home, with a picture, and it is not showing up with any special things I did on it, or the pic.

May 22 2008, 12:09 PM
Thanks, I thought that there was something about our internet that didn't let us see pictures on here without changing some setting.
And not being computer-literate, I don't know what that change would be.
Anyway, You gonna make it out for this?
The online poll is leaning towards two nine-hole rounds, but my emails and personal contacts are leaning towards playing more rounds. I have two in particular who can't make it out until late and wouldn't get to play in the tourney setting. So we'll see how it goes.
Ya'll keep letting me know what you think.
Also start letting me know if you are gonna make it.

May 23 2008, 12:00 PM
Do you have any elevation on this course Willie?
AlmaWillie
May 23 2008, 01:05 PM
The front nine is not too bad, as the disc flies, but you do shoot across about a 50-60 foot valley on hole 5 and then on hole 8 you are going down a powerline that drops probably 40-50 foot over the 400 foot fairway.
The big elevated shot is 16. You are throwing from the top of the hill. It is probably a 100ft drop over the 500 foot fairway.
This will for sure be thrown, probably alot as it is a fun shot, but may not be part of the round(s), if we do 2 9 holes rounds and not the "play all you want" on 14 holes.

Alright, I'm going out to buy the food tomorrow. Loks like I am buying for about 10-15 people, so I hope those of you who didn't RSVP can bring your own burgers!! :)
Of course I am kidding. I should have plenty of food. I figure we'll have no more than 75-100 people. I'll have plenty of food for that! ;) (And if only you 15 come, bring a BIG appetite!!!) :D
I now have $25 in merchandise to add to the ace pot, and it is only beginning. If no Ace is hit I am thinking about doing ring-of-fire for $1 at a time until all the ace money is gone. And of course the merchandise will go into the ring-of-fire too. Either that or a CTP across the pond with the basket on the waters edge!
I would greatly appreciate everyone taking a minute to call all the DG'ers that you know, and telling thjem about this party. We want to make it a big success, and haven't go tthe word out much. If you like Alma Greens, then help us make it that much bigger this year!!
Thanks for all your support, see you the 7th!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about a preview mini next week, I'll be posting more soon.
A few changes are being made and OB's / Mando's are being put in place. Merchandise is coming in to add to the fun. Burgers and dogs are ready to cook, and the water feels GREAT in the creek!!
Everything is lining up for an EXCEPTIONAL PARTY!!!!!!!!
Don't be the one to miss it!

Course has been brushhogged, weedeating will be done tomorrow to spruce it up a bit more. Alternate pin placements are cleared and ready, Tee signs are being made as I write this. Tick spray is on the back of the fourwheeler waiting to be sprayed tomorrow, Grills are waiting to cook.
Water is flowing real nice in the creek with a nice cool off from the Sunday rain. Campfire wood is waitng to be lit, pond bank is cleared off for fishing.
AND
The wife has OK'd the pitching of tents Friday and/or Saturday nights, so we can be sure everyone gets a chance to have fun. Even out-of-towners could make it a little vacation!! :)

Jun 04 2008, 05:43 PM
I have to disagree, it is not going to be good, it is gong to be GREAT!!! And as far as players go, I wasn't sure before how many would come, but I have a feeling a few more are going to decide to make the trip now. ;)
THIS JUST IN........
Backwoods Bash in Chester, Arkansas will have $100 ADDED CASH , with possibly more coming in.
That is a GUARANTEED $50 to the top Pro score and a GUARANTEED $50 to the top AM score, after the two round!!!!!.
Plus there is already close to $100 of added merchandise for Ace Pot and Ring of Fire!!!
When have you went to a MINI with $200 in cash and merchandise added in???
Well come to the BASH and experience just that!!!

Great Job Willie!!
Guess I'll have to play pro now ;)
IThat is a GUARANTEED $50 to the top Pro score and a GUARANTEED $50 to the top AM score, <font color="red"> after the two round!!!!!.</font>
Is it still play as many rounds as you want for $5 ea. and keep best score, or is it 2 rounds doing shotgun starts??
AlmaWillie
Jun 04 2008, 07:18 PM
6 of the 8 who voted in my poll wanted to do two rounds of 9, so that is what I was figuring on doing. We will just take the winners in pro and am after two rounds and hand them $50 cash!! And of course don't foget the $4 per person that is going to payout from the entry. Could be a good payday in Chester, especially for just playing " a round" (or two)!! :D

Jun 05 2008, 08:15 AM
OK Here is the updated flyer!!!
There's a schedule and it shows we are playing two 9-hole rounds. And, don't foget there is now $100 ADDED CASH!!!!

Hey Willie, when do you need me to come down to help. The tee signs are ready (Some of them are). I have 6 wood post for the signs. I was thinking you could maybe pick me up between (8a.m. - 10a.m.) Saturday morning so that we could get the final touches in. I won't be able to do anthing friday, or today. What all do you need paper wise like (clipboards for sign in, or scorecards or anything else)

Jun 05 2008, 01:55 PM
There will be folks here by 9:00 or so Saturday! Gotta get in some practice for that CASH!!!
I'm gonna finish things up tomorrow morning. I am just making signs with hole #'s and distances to put up, if you have something better we'll sure use it.
I should be set on the paperwork side. I have notebooks and scorecards to use. Just get here to help me get it all set-up.
I may have John pick you up, or I can do it real early Saturday 7:00 or so.
You gonna be able to play???

Glad to hear of a few more coming!! :)
We are going to have quite a few out by the sound of it! This may have to be sanctioned next year, and it will have to be in February or March before the briars and leaves come out!! I spent 10 hours hooked to a weedeater today :( but the FAIRWAYS look really nice! Notice the capital letters, because as I have said before this is a fairway golf course. You get off the fairway and it gets thick!!
I am looking for a hot round of -5 tomorrow. Someone come show me it can be done. The course will be open by 8:00 if anyone wants to come early and check it out, I just can't promise you lunch!! But there is a nice little cafe in town that serves some homecookin'!!

Wow! Looks like I picked a good time to play an early 9 and escape with the tags :D Great course you've started building Willie! I can't wait to come back and play it again, and hopefully we can get in the back 9 next time as well.
When you and Shawna master that course of yours you'll be able to go anywhere and beat most of them. Thanks for the hospitality and good times. It was good to get out and bang a barrell or 2. Maybe if you'd left more barrells up I'd have birdied more holes :o

Thanks guys, and hole 18 at the waterfall is actually a really good idea. I could see a tee from the top of the hill, over the railroad tracks and road, out to the waterfall. Probably about a 900 - 1000 foot hole! But would be a GREAT way to end it.
BUT, probably when we play here next noone will want to be in the water (Winter rounds) but we won't have to worry about the ticks.
And an update on money raised, I got an additional $30 from some folks who didn't get to make it out but wanted to make a donation to the Greens. That officially took us just over $100 raised!!!

I would say there is a good chance some of that jerky will make it's way to Alma Greens.
I am going out in the morning to see if I can gather some plastic to sell and make some more money for the Greens. I'll put a listing of what I get. I do know, that if I get (find) any it will all be signature edition stuff!! :D
I know where to "get" at least 5 discs and may get lucky and "get" at least two more than that!!

All my lost plastic from the bash will fetch a nice reward
my whole bag lineup has seriously changed since that week-end
I've got an SE Valk, Black Chalky Magic, Yellow Max and Gray Max somewhere out there
AlmaWillie
Jun 11 2008, 06:17 PM
Wow,
I was only aware of the one Max on hole seven, for you!
Where did the others go astray at? At least ideas of what holes and in what directions. I got called away to work with my dad today but will be out looking either in a few minutes or tomorrow morning early.
If folks who lost stuff will give me ideas of where to look I'll go scouting. I know of one by big Chris and one by little Chris and one of Two-Fingers' from this weekend, then I have an idea on two of little Chris' from before the Bash, and 4 of my own should be findable. If anyone else is missing stuff I don't know about let me know where to look and I'll get on it.

OK well I know about where the yellow max is, so I'll dig for it and maybe a couple of the others will turn up. I can't imagine where the Magic could have disappeared as it shouldn't have been thrown too often for too far.

The Max was the only true "lost disc" during play
Thanks Willie!!
