1. Moderators should at least be able to spell the names of the ones they discipline.

It does take skills, and a ton of volunteering. I feel people should not talk bad about someone that is working for them for free.

But that is just me... I can't expect everyone to have my values.

I've moderated a site a few times, and it can be somewhat stressful depending on who is causing the trouble, but there is also alot of bias being a moderator. Some members do get preferential treatment, and their mishaps are passed over. Not saying it has ever happened here, but MODs do need specific training in upholding MB policy, and should be called out when not being objectional. They do deserve alot of respect, but occasionally need to be knocked off their high horse when they themselves slip up. Once again, I'm speaking of MODs in general, not on here.

Hear hear!

All our mods must be called on it when they're not being offensive in some manner.

Sorry, but I just couldn't let that one get by without some sort of a smart-alec comment.

Dude's son:
Sorry, I knew what you meant; that's what made it so funny.

Cheers,

P.S. On topic: Yes the mods should have skills, but also deserve some respect for doing a mostly thankless volunteer job.

Maybe it really is some other Lance. If not we can start another "Free the Forum One" movement.

in a "personal attack" MB situation, why not require the supposed aTTackee to file the complaint themselves with the mods or at least disapprove/approve of impending disciplinary action resulting from the complaint?

is it really a personal aTTack if the aTTackee doesn't perceive it as such?

Communications Director Peter Shive has previously answered this question; basically, he does not want offensive material on the board, period.

"Moderating should require some skills."

Membership in a club you didn't start should require some personal responsibility for your own actions! ;)
