Disc Golf has lost a great friend and promoter. Dann Schultz passed away on Easter Sunday, March 23. Dann was a founder of the Black Hawk Metro Disc Golf League in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was instrumental in bringing the PDGA World Championships to Iowa in 1988. He also helped organize and run the Snow Disc event every February in Cedar Falls - an event that pre-dates the Ice Bowl. On Ebay his handle was "frisbeemaster".

Dann Ray Schultz was born in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin on January 3, 1958; the son of Russell Ray & Patricia Maureen (Hefferon) Schultz. Dann was raised in Ft. Atkinson and Cedar Falls and was a graduate of the Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1976. Following high school Dann attended the Hawkeye Tech Community College. On August 21, 1993 Dann was united in marriage to Sylvia Longnecker in Hickory Hills. Dann was a Senior Design Draftsman with Viking Pump in Cedar Falls for 21 years. Dann battled cancer, and surpassing all doctors expectations, finally succumbed after a two year battle, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Easter, Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the age of 50.
During his spare time Dann was an avid Frisbee golf player, even holding the Guinness Book World Record of 833 holes played in a 24 hour period. He also co-founded the first sanctioned disc golf league, and was a member of the Professional Disc Golf Association & the Black Hawk Disc Golf Association.
He also enjoyed darts and was a member of the National Dart Association. One of his fondest memories was he and his father riding bicycles to Alaska together when he was 16 years old. Dann�s memory is cherished by his wife: Sylvia of Cedar Falls, one son and his special friend: Kyle & Mindy of Des Moines, two daughters: Keira (Brent) Stinson of Ankeny and their children: Anthony & Katelynn, and Becca Schultz at home, his parents: Russell & Patricia of Cedar Falls, one sister: Maureen (Jeff) Dietz of Cedar Falls and one brother: Scott (Shelly) Schultz of Wakefield, Nebraska.
