As a person who does not get a massive amount of distance, I wonder who some high rated shorter throwers are. When I say shorter throwers, I mean their max distance is approximately 350 feet. The best short thrower I know of is rated 957 with max distance of about 340. Know of any better?

Larry Leonard has never been able to throw it very far at all but at one time was considered the 2nd best golfer in the world to Kenny. He is amazing accurate and an awesome putter.

Dr. Rick Voakes also comes to mind as someone who can't throw very far but is amazingly talented.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with Leonard as a short thrower. Back in the late 90s he came out to a Supertour event at Tinicum in Pennsylvania and in a practice round I watched him throw some of the longest airshots and rollers I've ever seen at that course.

Dr. Rick Voakes is one I would agree with. His 4th place finish in Open at Pro Worlds at the beginning of the decade was really something, and a testament to what an entire winter spent putting indoors will do. He was basically automatic from 35 feet and in that entire week.

The Lissamans were never terribly long thorwers, but both very talented players (and awesome putters).

Carlton Howard was over 1000 when he was playing regularly and he said his 'D' was no more than 350. Playing in the Carolina woods and putting extremely well kept him competitive at the highest levels except when several courses in an event were more wide open and his shorter 'D' was just enough to keep him from the top.
