I have noticed recently that the Summertime Open is scheduled 5/31-6/1 on the PDGA page, and 6/7-8 on the SoCal page. My question is, which is it?

Still no Sunrise Showdown on the schedule...hope someone steps up and TD's the thing...

The So Cal Schedule will be updated shortly. The Summertime Open will be May 31-June 1st. So Cal was waiting for the organizers to confirm the exact date. That is why next to this event it says "event subject to change".

I doubt there will be a Sunrise event.

This just in!! I found out that the Summertime Open may not be on May 31 - June 1st. It appears there is some type of scheduling conflict with LA County. Stay tuned as the TD is out of town for a few weeks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm interested to know because there is an A-tier in AZ that same week (May 31-June 1) and if there is no SoCal event that weekend I will consider playing it. I will stay tuned.

I know Sunrise looks unlikely...I'm just hopeful because it's one of the most fun events on the schedule and it would be a shame to lose it. If there is anything I can do to help make it happen (short of being the TD) let me know.

Is there going to be an Eldorado tourney? I thought I saw it on the schedule a few weeks ago and now its not there. Thanks!

There is going to be a El Dorado Open, March 15-16, but there is some question as to whether or not it will be sanctioned. I think it will most likely end up being sanctioned, but El Do and SoCal need to sort some things out.

One side note: the Coyote Classic is scheduled for 10/20-21 on the SoCal site. That has to be an error unless they intend to run a Monday-Tuesday event.

Last time I spoke to this year's El Dorado TD, everything was a go for a PDGA and So Cal event.

It is unfortunate that the public ultimatum on this message board has not been retracted by the former TD of this event. This was over an honest mistake made by a hard working So Cal volunteer. (It has since been corrected with apology.)

If anyone ever has a problem with So Cal, please email, call or send me a PM. I assure you that public threats and ultimatums are not necessary to get resolution. We have fewer volunteers on the BOD doing the work this year. We will still get business done, it just won't happen instantly.

Coyote Classic still has not confirmed the 2008 dates. We put past dates on the schedule only to let folks know there will be an event, we just don't know when.

The Sylmar Open entry forms were available at Wintertime Open Pros last weekend. So Cal is waiting for the TD to submit an electronic version so we can post it to the website.

Reward of 2 Star discs to the person who gets my blue CE Firebird back to me. I lost it over the fence on hole 10 (I think) at the Horseshoe Lake course in El Dorado Park.

Tim Selinske was able to get this event approved by the parks department last week. It will be a PDGA and So Cal Series event. The entry form should be available soon. I will bring them to EIEIO if they are ready.

Fun course to play last year - will it be with or without Armenian Boy Scouts? ;)

I was wondering the same thing.

The entry form is ready and should be up on the So Cal site soon. The entry forms will be available at EIEIO today.

If anyone needs the entry form, send me an email.

I asked Tim yesterday about the Boy Scouts, and he said if I said "pretty please" he might be able to get them back. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But seriously, that park was a fun layout, and with it being a 1-day event Team Rizbee (plus a beginner?) will try to make it.

No single man is more quotable than Mark Twain. Here are a few more of his.

"In the real world, the right thing never happens in the right place and the right time. It is the job of journalists and historians to make it appear that it has."

and some disc players may be fond of:

"The secret of success is to make your vocation your vacation."

"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain."

"Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."

"It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them."

"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not."

This probably belongs in the "Random paste thread", but here's another quotable American: Will Rogers.

Oh noooo! I see a conflict with the Sunrise Showdown and the Green Mountain Open in Vermont. They are both mountain courses on the same weekend. Is it possible ?
I can make the Showdown if goes Down on the Aug. 16th weekend. Just signed up for GMO Aug. 1st weekend, Oh noooooo!

Wow. Just hearing that the Sunrise Showdown is back on the schedule makes my day. August 2nd is a perfect weekend because it bridges the gap between Santa Maria's July event and Pro/Am worlds. I look forward to going to Sunrise and doing better than last year. Thanks to everyone working to get it done.
