Here's the rules from last year...


here's the rules/tiebreaker scheme to the basic contest, which start after the SBXLI teams are known:

pick the winner
pick the final score
pick the halftime score
pick the yards offense for both teams

if more than one person picks the winning team, then the difference in actual versus predicted final scores is used as the tiebreaker.

if its tied after that, then the difference in actual versus predicted halftime scores is used as the tiebreaker.

if its still a tie, then the difference between actual and predicted offense is the final tiebreaker.

if its still tied, then gaia wants it to be a tie, and you'll split the stack.

no entry fee is required or expected. there will be a website launched in the near future that will track the entrants, and also allow participants to play "what-if" by entering various values and seeing where they stand. there will also be "near-live" updating during the game.



the Nostradamus Challenge was introduced last year and will continue. this one requires you to pick the SBXLI winner BEFORE THE SECOND ROUND starts (thats before next weekend, after the first wildcard weekend... someone who knows something about football should really be running this anyway), and then WIN the SB Challenge. if you can pull that off, then you will receive, in addition to the SBXLI stack of discs, a stack of unthrown first run discraft ranging from APX through 2007 DGLO first run ESP Flash.

again, no entry fee is required or expected.

Yes. Except for your "NOSTRA" pick which is before the first round. You pick one team before the first round that will win it all.

Then when teams are announced you make final picks. If you get both the regular win AND the nostra pick right, you get both stacks.

um, yes. you can pick up to the moment of kickoff. it would be nice if you registered early though. just like a tournament. oh wait, you show up at 9:59 :)

also, to get in on the Nostradamus challenge part of it, you need to pick the SB winner before the first playoff game begins. the minute your Nostra pick gets eliminated, then you are only playing for the SBXLII stack. so by the time SB rolls around, a few of us will have a broken Nostra pick on the books, but still be in contention to win the SBXLII stack. i LOVE those people because if they win then i get to keep my Nostra Stack.

I now have to hope for a tie as I hate both the Giants (wife's team) and the Patriots (Dolphin's nemisis).

At least all the years I was a Dolphins season ticket holder(1970-1999) the Dolphins pretty much owned the Pats overall.

So let me get this straight... for the Nostradamus Stack... Should NE win it all will the person who guessed scores and everything closest win or does you picking NE trump them with the 'tie' going to you?

Stack, to win the Nostra stack you must also win the regular stack. the first Nostra winner (there has never been one) can not only say "my prediction was the best" but also "i knew it all along" :cool:

So, the three guys that say the Giants will win, will only win the final stack, because their prediction was the best -- if the Giants win.
But whomever knew what was going to happen with the closest score and closest yardage, wins both stacks when the Patriots win.

Is that correct? or does the score and yardage have to be correct? I'll admit right now, I know nothing about yards, except it taking 10 to get a first down. However, I've known for a long time that the Patriots will win. Does it matter that Stack and I and a few others thought the Patriots would beat someone else?

1) to win the SB Stack: pick the winner of the game, and use the tiebreakers to decide who was closest.

2) to win the Nostra stack: be the person who won #1, and also happened to have named the winning team before the playoffs started.

didnt mean to make them the same... and i might be estimating low on some of them... buts its prolly in the ballpark. with some goodies added to the SB Stack it'll prolly run close to $800 or so.
