The latest rally cry has been that 30 is the new 20,... well 50 is the same old 50. That's fine, I still feel 18 at times and according to Lou (my better half) I still act like I'm 6 at times. Somewhere in there if I'm lucky maybe I hit a 45 average. :D

It was an interesting day, I slept in, since I took the day off. A little gift to myself. My daughter showed up around 8:00 with my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who wished me a "Happy Cupcake". I thought it was cute :D.

Then the interesting part started...
A few months back, maybe it was the 50 thing, I started thinking about milestone birthdays 16,18,21,25,30,40,50,60,65,70,71,72,73...you get the message :p. Anyways, in overanalyzing the idea of the "birthday" it hit me. Why do we celebrate our birthday, all I had to do was be born, it was the other two people involved that had to do the all the hard work for almost 20 years. So this year I made it a little different, I took my dad to play his first game of disc golf. 72 and he has decided to possibly pursue a new hobby.

Things turned out to be a very good day in many ways. Our 3 some was my dad, myself, and my daughter. How many people are lucky enough to have 3 generations on the golf course at once. Hopefully in a few years we will have 4 generations when my grandson is a little older. I'm looking forward to it.

I realized how lucky I was in regards to my Dad. My dad and I have always done things together like hunting , fishing, playing ball most of the cliche father-son stuff but ours goes a bit further. When I say we played ball together we actually played in league ball, he didn't quit until he was in his late forties. The same with bowling, and while he didn't get into powerlifting like I did (reason #2 my knees are shot), he did go and lift weights every morning. He also took an interest in karate when he was in his early sixties along with my brother and I. It was cut short by his first stroke, he's had 2 so far, the last one about four years ago. You wouldn't have realized it today. His grip has returned to pretty much full strength and after he switched to a sidearm throw it was even better. I guess those years of pitching paid off.

50....a long strange trip indeed, but after watching a 72 year old youngster today, I'm the youngest,luckiest 50 year old you've ever seen.

I even matched my best score on the front 18 at LO with a +6, this is where I was at when I stopped playing a little over a year ago. There's the cherry on this birthday cake! +4 is next!

I'm lucky also to count all of you as friends. May all of your birthdays be as great as this one was, but right now this "old man" is going to go chase Mama around the house nekkid! :o:D

Any anejo is good, but Patron anejo, you can [censored] near drink it like water, but don't...you want to savor every drop!

Take a double shooter class, two oz of Patron or Herradura, LAYER about 3/4 oz of ice cold sour mix, top with a thin layer of cold grenadine and shoot it down. You get sweet, then sour, then that clean taste of the tequila MMMMMM beats frozen Stoley every time. If you're drinking Patron Anejo you can even skip the sour mix and grenadine. :D
