I'm winterizing my room on this dreary day in Michigan, and compiled all the collared shirts and T-shirts I've received over the last 3 years in player's packages.

I have exactly 39 shirts I'll never wear because they are all cut for men. 18 of them are collared and a few are quite nice/costly. It seems I've tried smalls and mediums, but the proportions never match up. Many are sized XL simply because that was the only size ordered.

If I had to estimate $10 / t-shirt, $15 / collared shirt and $30 for nice collared shirts, I probably have about $500 worth of shirts sitting in a box in my closet.

Where is Sassy Pants???? I also have quite a few items of the clothing Sassy Pants manufactures, and they all travel from drawer to body to laundry to drawer regularly.

When will tournaments that offer players packages start working with Sassy Pants to offer women's specific clothing? Especially high-profile and costly tournies such as Bowling Green, Marshall Street and World's?

Come to TWC next April. Sassy Pants was one of our sponsors and will be this time round, too.

It is sad but true that women's clothing has not been properly addressed. Once again, the ladies in Texas got a woman's cut bella shirt in their players pack last year, sure there will be something like that again.

And Happy Birthday!

Most of my players' pack shirts end up going to Mitch... I know of two TDs who will actually order smalls or women's cut shirts for their tournaments, and I always go to those.

I've searched the racks up and down at REI and only found minimal collared shirts in hi-tech materials like the dri-fit Mahshall St ones. Not sure why women's collared shirts aren't really made in techy fabrics (or at least are hard to find).

Lifetime Disc Sports, LLC had a ton of women's clothing printed and embroidered late in 2006. Long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, microfiber women's collared shirts, hoodies, and lounge pants (and probably some other stuff).

Unfortunately it has sat in boxes with not many women purchasing it. I know I invested close to $1,000 just in women's apparel. It was really tough because I tried to offer a bunch of different colors and sizes and styles and that added up quickly.

Maybe sometime during winter I'll take a ton of pictures and post them. I was going to put them in my online store but I was worried those sales would be worse than the face to face sales.

I work for a company called DC Sports. We are the industry leader in customized sporting apparel in the U.S. We do screen printing and embroidering and have a huge selection of womens clothing. We have great prices and I have just started working on a project that will target sales to tournamant directors. I am in the process of creating a website where you can look at our womens products. We have a minimum of only 3 shirts so TD's can still get good pricing when placeing small orders.

For any TD's reading...

We sell T-Shirts, towels, hats, and just about anything you can think of that you would want for a players pack or prize. (No discs, we are not a disc golf company).
A colored T-Shirts with up to a 4 color screen print is as low as $5.95 and embroidered hats and visors for as low as $9.45. Also, we have absolutely no Artwork or Set-up fees, which makes a huge difference for small orders. So if you'd like to order anything or have me send you a catalog either write or give me a call. 518-669-2958.

The 2006 Michigan Women's Championship had Sassy Pants gear and, in 2007, over $500.00 in Sassy Gear was given away at this event but you missed us this year.

Think about that next year when i expect to have even more Sassy Gear.
Maybe you or some of your friends could buy the bag tags we will be selling in 2008 that helps support this event.

As a player, I as well have around 50 mens t-shirts that are useless to me. I wish the TD's did have womens shirts for us. I like sassy pants gear, and have had them sponsor my events in the past (thank you Sassy Pants!) and have some of their clothing. But it would be nice to have a shirt cut for a woman that has the same tournament specific logo as the men's do. It's a nice way to remember the events you have been to.

As a TD , I understand why they don't. Unless an event fills at least 3 weeks prior (the amount of time you need to order custom screen printed or embroidered event shirts or gear), you just don't know who is going to show up. If the TD orders womens stuff they get stuck with it like Terry did. This is one of the reasons it is important to pre-reg as early as you can. If you do, we can plan better and definately arrange getting nicer player packs and prizes. I know as a TD (the events filled) I knew most of the people and actually guessed their sizes (men and women) and was able to get pretty close to the right size for everyone. I even wrote to some of the big guys and asked their sizes.

As a mother of 3 kids, I usually can't pre-reg. My schedule revolves around my kids and I usually don't know until the last minute whether or not I can make it. I only pre-reg for events that I know will fill with the hope that I can make it and the hope I get my money back if I can't.

So lies the problem with womens gear. There is womens clothing out there on online shops such as Sassy Pants, but I think what we are addressing here is customized stuff we get from events. My goal is to make things easier for the TD if ordering stuff for women. If they don't know whether women will be at their event, and if they do order things that they might get stuck with, at least they will get good pricing on it. As a salesperson I will go out of my way to make it that way for any TD that orders from me. In general womens clothing cost more when it comes to customizing. Most of the companies that do screen printing and embroidering don't stock it and have to order it themselves. The inexpensive shirts a Disc Golf TD gets and can afford for the guys is stocked, that's why it is cheaper. I want to give TD's a break on womens stuff because I am a woman disc golfer that will benefit from it and simply because I care about the sport and the women that play it. I have access to really nice womens apparel as Marsha mentioned. There are tons of great womens disc golf things out there and I know where to get them because the company I work for is an industry leader. I hope you all give me the opportinity to help you out and give you great pricing.

I totally understand the frustration with getting the men's cut of shirts, however, I don't find too many women's cut's out there that fit the "curvy". Let's just say that most of the cool gear that even companies like sassy, huk lab and other's carry aren't meant for women, they are meant for junior or girls sizes. I think that if there are going to be companies that sell for women, they should realize that not everyone is a size 6!!!! And some of us have a very large chest and cannot begin to look right or comfortable in things that run 3 sizes too small, even when they say XL! But just the same, the Men's sizes still do not fit right either. Here is a thought, instead of ordering the shirts for the women, give gift certificates and let us pick out our own stuff.

Lol.. well I feel your pain as far as the curvy and the top heavy. I agree. What is good about the stuff I can get is that with the larger sizes, the shirts don't come down to your knees. For whatever reason, clothing companies think that the wider you are, the taller.

These are all awesome suggestions! THANK YOU to Jeannie for pointing out that DC Sports can offer really competitve pricing for small orders of womens' clothing. I also think the gift certificate idea is fabulous as well, especially for the dry-fit shirts that probably run TD's $25 - $30 in the men's cuts.

I also think that this would be a great way to get women to pre-reg earlier. If the TD announced that women pre-regging a month in advance would receive a women's cut tourney shirt intead of the default men's cut, I think a lot more women would pre-reg a lot earlier. This in turn helps out other women as well as the TD b/c then we could look at a field in advance and see where all the women in our area will be that weekend....which leads to bigger fields, better payouts and more participation.

Any leftover shirts (for women who cancel or if the minimum is 3 and only 2 women pre-reg) could be designated for women-only CTP's at other events...great way for the TD to advertise their events when girls are wearing their shirts.

Terry, are the shirts you ordered already embroidered with tourney logos or anything? Perhaps you could sell them to TD's and find an embroiderer middle-man to customize the gear before sending them to the TD? Because just like the men, most female players are spending all their money on travel costs and entry fees. We're talking about replacing the shirts we are already receiving in players packs with more appropriate shirts rather than buying them.

Now, how to implement? Don't we have a women's committee or something who communicates with clubs and TD's on our behalf around the country? Because we all know there are only about 3 men who read our Women's Issues threads, so all this good problem-solving is probably going unnoticed by male tournament directors.

Finally, hear-hear on the silly women's sizes where an XL is a size 6! Hopefully since Jeannie works at DC Sports, she can make sure sizes come realistically.

Just scatter the name "Victoria's Secret" here and there in your clothing posts and you'll get more males checking them...

My tournament always includes small and medium shirts, however I never thought of specific women cuts. I will add that next year.

We were able to get some really nice sleeveless collared shirts at Worlds for women that we got course logos embroidered. They cost a little more than the mens version but were better quality, too.

This may be a long shot, but I'm going to ask any way. I'm planning an all ladies DG tourney (along side the WDGA) in Tallahassee. a 1-day, 2-rounds of 18. The purpose is to get more women aware and involved in the Sport.

If you or anyone that you know would like to donate women's gear or other items for prizes and players packs - Please let me know! I could really use the help. Thanks!

Count on Lifetime Disc Sports, LLC to donate something. I'm not exactly sure what it will be but put me down for some type of sponsorship!
