Hey everybody! The USDGC point series is well on the way. Our second tournament in the series will be........ the Horseshoe Canyon Twisted Flyer Open! That's right, the guys bringing you the Oklahoma Open will be right here hosting the first ever sanctioned event at Horseshoe. How awesome is this? And with all the cool added stuff i've heard about, the leaves changin', this is a gift folks! Thank you Twisted Flyer. This is also an open invitation for everybody to thank a couple of guys, and their crew, who are taking disc golf and twisting up to another level. Come out and meet these guys in person, eat some good food, chill in one of the most beautiful settings within driving distance. It's time to play Horseshoe Canyon!

As far as the rest of the schedule goes, I'm looking for TDs. Found one today, as a matter of fact.

January
Febraury
March
April Northshore Invitational Wildcat Open
May State Championships
June Alma Greens
July Russleville
August
September Hell on the Border
October (no Eddy Bowl) (no texarkana)
November HCR
December

I would like to add Jacksonville, Clarksville, JB Hunt, and Branchwood tournaments to the list. With a couple more people who want to show their love for disc golf, we could have one helluva schedule, not to mention that any of these courses can host two events! This schedule is as strong as those who are willing to run these events. The level of excellence we have produced so far is waiting to be exceded. Running tournaments may seem a bit scary, and it is a lot of work... then at somepoint that evening after the tourny you realize your face hurts from smiling so much. Now is the time to make your place in history, these tournaments need TDs, this is a great chance for anyone to make something special for other disc golfers to enjoy.

He just bought a place, i believe closer to Farmington, where he's teaching, real busy with fixing the place up........

We'll figure Alma Greens out if Pitch doesn't want to run it.......

everyone please realize that Tom's done a helluva lot for DG in this area and he deserves a rest if he wants one

volunteer burnout is a real issue in this sport

WAFDA is waiting for the new sanctioning agreements and competition structure from the PDGA, should be released by Nov. 15th, after reviewing it as a board and referring with the TD's, WAFDA will be releasing a schedule for 08', we will be looking to add more Tournaments to the schedule

we need dedicated teams of volunteers for these upcoming tournaments, there's no reason that all the work should fall on 1 or 2 people

hmmm, it seems that I heard somewhere that Little Rock is running something on Labor Day weekend, wonder if the payout will be worth going to for any pros ;)

Thanks Tom!!
And Evan is correct. I am still here and watching the board. I'm just not able to do any events right now due to money and time constraints. We have just bought a place in Chester (20 minutes closer) that consists of 73 acres and lots of work (cutting wood right now if anyone is interested /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) I have great plans for the place (Horseshoe #2) but it is a ways down the road. I should be half-way caught up to the place after the winter and am always glad to help out. My wife and I could run Alma next year, as she has been wanting to run one anyway. But right now, like Tom, I am very frustrated with the whole setup at Alma, and the lack of attention to the course. Hopefully it will still be playable next year.

Anyway, that is the update on AlmaWillie. I will still be around, just not for a while probably (although horseshoe next weekend is pulling at my heartstrings).

Speak of the devil

Get up to Horseshoe if you can!! I'm just going on Sunday

about a month ago I played Alma and it was better than thought, high grass on #3, #4 and part of #1 (actually by the picnic tables) was about it, hopefully be good for the winter months, the wooded holes seem to be taking care of thereselves and #2 was actually mowed, just not further down the bluff, the spillway had been recently brush hogged

We'd really like to do a Sunday monthly or weekly there but we need someone to run it, I'm full with Ben Geren, only get to see my wife mostly on the week-ends with her school schedule

Evan: If I could pull away right now I would love to do Alma, you know that. I just honestly don't have the time to devote to it and do it justice.
Tom: I will call you.
Anyone else: I have trees down from a select cut 2-3 years ago, almost all oak and well seasoned. They are tops so you have to have some round, but it is easy to cut. If you are looking for you personally come on up, as there is probably 100 plus ricks on the ground (more than I'll ever get cut with my schedule). I want to get it removed from beside the driveway so I can begin to clean the place up.
If you are looking to just buy some cut, I'll have that too.

Hope to see you all on the course soon. Take care.

Still whipping your Willie and trying to get wood?

I see nothing has changed with you.

You should go to Hollywood and audition for the role of the cop in "Wild Hoggs" part II. ;)
