Apparently the story has made it to CNN...

In a brief phone interview with CNN, Delonas called the controversy "absolutely friggin' ridiculous."

"Do you really think I'm saying Obama should be shot? I didn't see that in the cartoon," Delonas told CNN.

"It's about the economic stimulus bill," he added.

Col Allan, the Post's editor-in-chief, said Wednesday that the cartoon "is a clear parody of a current news event."

"It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist," Allan said in a written statement.

Look up the history of the cartoonist...

Look at the history of congress....

Of course, those who do not believe congress is a bunch of monkees (http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc184/gotcherj/congressionalcommittee.jpg) , there's always the other animal reference. (http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc184/gotcherj/jackasscongress.jpg)

Remember reading all the jokes about 'Little Johnny'? You know, the kid that the teachers are afraid to call on for answers in the class, for fear of what he might say... Well, finally a photo of 'Little Johnny' has surfaced. See if you can find him in the picture!

Not a hard picture to find.

I'm guessing the kid in red in the front row.

I guess obscene gestures are offensive by definition, especially when performed by children.

if it has been photoshopped somebody did a fine job, the stripes on the shirt appear to be uniform if in the original they were extended. years ago when i was shooting school pics it wasn't difficult to manage a group of 50 or less kids during a shoot, more than that could be challenging trying to keep the fingers and gang symbols out.
and speaking of photoshop...

Wow! I knew our schools had gotten really bad, but I would have thought they'd have taught something about the history of racism in this country. Enough to know that it's not white men who are compared to monkeys. The quote, and picture, make it clear what the message was, Mr. Duke's re-direction and all. On the other hand, I think Gary's question was answered. The NAACP was rather offended.

Pizza God
Feb 26 2009, 08:44 PM
Personally, I did not see anything racist about the cartoon.

When I first saw it, I knew it was about the recent Chimp shooting and how congress just passed a very stupid bill, so stupid a monkey could have written it.

Nope..... wrong movie

Mrz is German for March

So the poster I posted says the movie is coming March 2008

I have not seen Mrz, I may see if I can find it. I just watched a promo for it and it looked interesting.

BTW, I watched

The Spirit (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0831887/) last night. It may be the worst movie I have seen in a long time. And I have seen some bad ones. Horrible acting, horrible dialog and I was not that impressed with the style. Basically it was a waste of an hour and a half.

I really though this was a good movie and recommend it. Sure, it is a German movie and you have to read the Subtitles, but the subject mater and story is worth it.

BTW, it is based on a true story The Third Wave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Wave) (however it must be noted, that the only accounts of this story come from Ron Jones himself)

If you haven't played the Lakeview course at Moraine State Park, you've probably heard or read about it. The Ironwood Open will challenge players on the par-66 design in a three round format: 2 rounds Saturday; 1 round Sunday. Perfect for out-of-towners as last year we had players on the road before 2:00 pm.

For tournament info click here. (http://pfds.org/)

For last year's results click here. (http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=7482)

[quoteWhat's really weird is I don't speak a word of German and I've never taken lessons to learn it or anything...and I knew exactly what you said.

[/QUOTE]

It helps that German and English are in the same language family. A lot of words are either the same word (with a different spelling) (house - Haus : beer - Bier) or they are quite similar (knnen - can : mssen - must). However, the grammar is quite different and reading it is quite different from speaking it.

I normally speak a dialect called Swiss-German that is almost impossible for Germans to understand. But, because Swiss-German is similar to Dutch, I can understand about half of what Dutch people are saying even though I don't speak Dutch.

I took 4 years of high school German and 4 years in college and minored in it. I spent a summer in Germany living with a family in northern Bavaria and was essentially fluent at one point. However, when I was in the Netherlands on my honeymoon a few years ago I did not understand Dutch at all. On the mainland of Holland, nearly everyone spoke English and communication was not an issue. However we also spent 5 days on an island off the coast of Holland, Texel, where very few of the inhabitants spoke English. The island is a beach resort and mainly caters to Dutch and German tourists, and I actually ended up speaking German most of the time there!

The easiest way to post images is to go to Quick Links in the above menu bar on the right side. From that select "Edit Options". Go to the bottom option and select Enhanced WYSIWYG Editor. It may tellyou that you cannot do that. Ignore and go back to the discussion board. Now when you want to post you will get a WYSIWYG editor where you can do all kinds of things, including insert image. Note these is a difference between "Insert Image" and "Attachements"

How do I add an image to a post?
If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.
To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing before the URL and after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) (http://www.pdga.com/discussion/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_albums) in this way too.

This has to be the best rendition of this 60s classic. The link was sent to me by my best friend of 40 years. Either he's a glutton for punishment or I'm one of the luckiest people around to have known him for so long!

Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering work
I think I have ever heard/seen. It is a composite audio/video of
song whereby additional tracks were laid in by different singers and
musicians from different places around the world.

The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally
released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by
the Drifters. This composite version is a real toe tapper.

The finished product is tremendous!

Yeppers.....that be the one. I picked up Mace that cold January morning, drove to Veterans and decided I wasn't going to play after we got to the park. Brian called me a ***** and said "it's never too cold for a sixteen-hundred dollar ace pot!" Craig Leyva called me later that morning (I was asleep in a warm bed) to inform me that "Mace hit the ace". :)

He let me sign his disc 'cause I drove him to the park that morning.

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

I forwarded this to a couple of people in the office and one guy liked it and wanted to republish it so he contacted this lady for permission. He found out the following: She was 45 when she originally wrote the article and then she turned 50 added 5 more things and republished this one. Some where it got changed to her turning 90 instead of 50 which she did point out to my co-worker that she was 50 NOT 90:)

First Available Tree, huh? :D

Actually it was the last tree on the right side that got me. My surge actually ended up pretty much parellel to the tee. But I still par'd the hole, just to let you know!!!

By the way, Thanks Jerry...Thanks a lot!!! At least I didn't lose to Matty Mc last weekend at Deer Lakes...From the WHITES!!!

After some investigating by a fellow yinzer I was told that I actually bogeyed the hole. Oh Well! Funny though...that Got My Money actually won!!!

Yes, the nights I spent holding that Farrah poster with one hand......

On the subject of MJ, if anyone sees this guy showing up at my "last funeral" (yes, halfway in he actually says it) shut the doors and nail the windows shut!
