In your opinion who is going to win the 2007 USDGC?

Below is a poll which includes the top 5 finishers at the USDGC from 00'-06'. I also included the current top 20 DG'ers in the world to the poll.

I searched everywhere for results of the 1999 USDGC and had no luck. I found 2000 at disclife.com but no 1999 results. I do know that Climo won in 99 but have no idea where to find the rest (?).

I read somewhere that Scott Martin is retiring so I left him off. I also left Cam Todd and Scott Stokely off of the list for obvious reasons. I'm sure a few players on the list might not make it this year but I included them anyway because of their top 5 finish. Also included a couple notables.

They should open up spots based on no shows. I know that the Nevada Rep. had to (or is going to) pull out. That spot should go up for grabs on Monday.

I sent an email at usdgc.com asking who, if anybody, can take his spot, I havent got a response, but I dont blame them-I know they are busy.

I still believe that once you qualify, you should be guaranteed that spot until a firm deadline. Everyone except last minute qualifiers should have the same deadline. A deadline of something like 1 month prior to the event would be fair. With the state the sport is in it could be tough for some touring pros to send in $230 early in the season. That $230 equals almost a whole week on the road.

Sorry to rant. :D

Sorry Charlie! but your getting NO shoulders to cry on here.

Many of us, would do just about ANYTHING to get the chance to go to USDGC..........Ive even tried to PAY the $1500 as a sponsor for a spot but was told.."not uless you can show what sponsoring USDGC does for your business"
I figured added money is added money, right............
I like the "30 day rule".......Id pay it the next day, even if I had to sell off a piece of my collection to do so.

As far as State Qualifiers go..........That spot should stay OPEN to ANYONE from that state.....until a week or 2 before. Having Aug 1st as the cutoff is a bit OFF.
And a replacement SHOULD be allowed if the original player cant attend for some reason. ALOT can happen in the 2 months prior to the event.

On a side not about paying the $230 early in the season...

Considering a person has to be a top 5 finisher of non qualified players at an NT, wouldn't the payday for the event be more than enough to pay for the spot? I see where Cale and some others could have a gripe but everyone else should have paid for their entry when they got their invite.

Getting almost as much love as Ken, thus far. He's a REALLY safe pick since he's so good right now. People either are going to go with Ken & Barry, two of those "pantheon" level guys... or with some trendy younger never-won-it guy. Dave is just a supersafe pick. If the poll was truly $2 track bets, the Barry-Ken-Dave option is worth about 4 to 1 versus anyone in the rest of the field winning. I think I might take those odds up to $100. I believe that there's a much better than 20% chance any one of those three would win.

I hope I'm very wrong."

explains what I was saying.

I remember when I was working as a sportswriter doing a column on the East Carolina (my alma mater) basketball team. One game I felt they showed no effort and said I don't think they can win a single conference game.

As a fan, I thought they would win EVERY game. As a writer, I gave them no chance.

Same situation here. As a friend and fellow NCer of Schweb, I hope he wins the whole thing. As a 3rd party observer commenting on what I think will happen, I don't think Schweb's game is on right now to contend. I think even Schwebby would tell you he has been disapointed with his play in PDGA tournament as of late.

I know he will read this and I HOPE this is the fuel that he needs to bring the title to NC. But knowing Schwebby, his tank is already full loaded.

Schwebby was playing amazing golf last year before USDGC.

This year, his game has been a little off as of late....I don't expect him to contend to be honest.

Nice post, MTL...you should give your fellow NC'er more love than that :o

I think my post that said...

"trust me, I WANT everyone from NC to contend and play very well...just going off of what I think.

I hope I'm very wrong."

explains what I was saying.

There is nothing wrong with an objective point of view, if you think Schweb is not on his game you have the right to voice your opinion. I mean this is a sport where players compete against each other, right? Competition is a fun to talk about and smack about. I think MTL should run for PDGA Commish.

ewwwwwwww

however, your guys did have a GREAT offseason signing peca and you still have one of the most underrated players in the NHL in Rick Nash.

However, your goalies suck to high heavens.

We play two pre-season games this week against you guys. Avatar challenge for a sweep?

ChrisWoj

Sure, sounds good by me.

I hope they play Steve Mason in the net, though. He's been sparkling down on the farm. He's going to be good. I hate LeClaire. He makes my NHL08 franchise cry. I remember NHL02, they had Roberto Luongo as a 60 skill, 99 potential guy. I picked him up for an 80-80 player and won the cup every year for a decade of seasons... *le sigh* If only...

Anyway, Avy challenge is on like donkey kong!

Let's get this thread back on topic. I vote for C Woj as he has been playing some killer golf lately and can shoot a 62 at Winthrop. String 3 of those together, top it off with a 4th round 57 and he should be golden.

Played in Omaha last weekend. The TCC was a blast. The temp course at Mt. Crescent was absolutely sick. Nothing like 1100 feet of downhill fairway.

there is a hole called "the wall" in CO that is about 200' up a double black diamond...you have to throw two full strength drives to get it there....and I'm talking for players that can throw 500

There's a hole at Sipapu that's similar except you have to come out of a short tunnel of trees before the 130 ft. uphill fairway. It looks so weird to me, being a "flat lander". And it plays like 320 ft.

sorry for more thread jack.

That was a blast, but that picture was taken before the party got really started. Imagine Cale, Schweb, Bard, CuTT, Valarie, TanK and 3 others in there, going floor to floor for hours and getting hammered.

Room additions, not pictured:

Phone, Wall Size picture, Bigger table, Flower w/ vase, MORE BEER, Random passerbyers..table proped in front of Barry's Hotel room door. (Classic)
