I just read that Keith Johnson died last night.

I only knew him through the message board...my prayers are with his family and close friends.

Read it on myspace from The Father of Disc Golf profile.

This is what I read from the bulletin:

Loss of a Dear Disc Golf Friend

I'm not sure if you have heard or not, but last night Keith Johnson of Orangevale CA took his life. Keith has been a big part of the Orangevale Disc Golf Community and a dear friend and we will miss him deeply. No funeral service will be held, but there will be an informal memorial at the Orangevale Course on Monday September 3rd @ 9:00 AM. This is a way for fellow disc golfers to say goodbye to a very special friend.

I don't think that's the Keith Johnson you see on our message board. He works in Georgia. Sad either way but "message board" Keith posted last night at 9:43 sounding in good spirits.

I think the one you're thinking of is from GA.

Keith was a great guy and helped do alot of the work that has been done in Orangevale. Keith you will be missed

Sorry to hear it, but relieved it was not the Keith I met at Worlds, the Keith from the message board.

I almost had a heart attack reading this - thinking it's Keith who lives in Tucson and always razzing Rhett!
But yes, very sad news... but he's out of pain now...

Did Keith in OV have blond hair and very light completed skin? Does anyone have a photo? I think I remember him when I used to play up there in the 90's.

it is sad to see this today...i wasn't on the computer at all yesterday and people called me at first....

i played with "west coast" keith johnson(i lived in florida at the time but still played all over the country) a couple of times in cali in the late 90's and early 2000's and even in the last couple of times out west playing in vegas and socal this year, people would say i WASN'T keith johnson :eek: and i had asked people why he hadn't been playing much anymore.....

we even had the same middle initial R but his pdga number was in the 5000's so he'd been a member long before i joined

i'm sorry to see that he is no longer with us and wish his family my condolances......

After seeing Jenny's posted photos on final9 page, I DO remember him.... he was such a nice guy! He let me stay at his place one tourney back in the 90's. Gold Pan I think it was....

Many many heartfelt condolonces to the loved ones he left behind! I wish I could make the memorial this weekend!!!!

Thank you all for your thoughts. Keith was a very kind person and did a lot for the Orangevale Disc Golf Community. He has been in my life for over 15 years and I am going to miss him. Many local golfers are paying there respects on the final9 forums. There will be a memorial on Monday, September 3rd @ 9:00 am Orangevale, CA Disc Golf Course.

And Bobbie too if you see her. I think she's the one who introduced me to Keith. Gosh, it was so long ago...
