I notice that some finals of tournaments do get rated and some do not. The Hambrick and West Virginia Open finals don't get rated; yet the Pittsburgh Open does get rated for the finals. Could someone shed some light on why this is? The main reason I'd like to know though; is because I'm curious to see what the rating would be for Tyler Horne's dessimation of the field at the 2005 West Virginia Open finals.

Only rounds more than 12 holes get officially rated. If you see ratings for Semifinals or Finals online with fewer than 13 holes, it's only because the online software hasn't been set to match the official ratings process.

That's the year Mitch won? (click click click, yup)

I'd hardly call his 37 compared to Mitch's 30 and Gawler's 31 a decimation of the field. I'd in fact consider it the other way around...

Sorry, I meant 2004. He shot a 33 with a 39 being the next closest.

tyler's final 12(?) that year was far and away the greatest display of power golf i have ever witnessed.

i'll be rooting for he and bratten to make the finals this year for the entertainment value.

The way I understand it is that on holes such as the Gauntlet #3 and hole#15 on the Woodshed, Horne throws almost straight up, through, and OVER the trees instead of down the established fairways?

he was definitely doing that on a few holes on the whipping post. (#3, 4, etc)

in the final he parked #1 on the dam, #11, #12, etc, etc.

I believe that the gauntlet has a mando that was put in directly because of him going up and over. I remember seeing where it was and just thinking it was silly that anyone could go for that route; but that's why he's Tyler and I'm not.

Would a final 9 holes be included in ratings calculation?

No. The online ratings calculator will sometimes calculate unofficial ratings for Final 9s. But no rounds with less than 13 holes ever get official ratings.
