We have had a few ladies express interest in Tallahassee's Lassies. I've had a vote for Tuesday evenings. Also, Innova, Quest AT and Gateway have offered to help us out with merchandise. There are all very supportive of women in disc golf. Please thank them by supporting them. Also, I'm in the process of ordering shirts and special discs just for us...just so you know!

Spread the word!

Great job! I'm so glad it's all coming together for you! Once we get a logo from my women's league I'll send you a couple discs or mini's depending on what we decide on to get, so you can give them out as prizes for your league! I'll keep in touch!

3 is better than 1! And once the word keeps spreading you'll have a ton of girls playing! Glad you guys had fun! Keep it up! We're about to switch our Monday night leagues to the weekends in a couple weeks. There is not enough daylight to play during the week anymore :( I wish I lived in Florida so I could play all year round! :)

CHulsey
Sep 14 2007, 10:27 AM
I think that we will have to switch times much sooner that I had anticipated. It was just after 8pm and we could barely find our discs. LOL But that's ok. I think I would rather play on the weekends than right after work. but, we had a great time...at least I did. I am getting ready to upload some pics, you should take a look. Some are good, and some are blurry. We are still learning the functions of my digital camera. So next weeks should be better. BTW - did you get a chance to play around with a website for the crushers?

Hey there! Sorry about last week, I was sick. I saw the post about it getting too dark...does that mean you're not playing tonight? I have my stuff and was planning on heading out there around 5:20-5:30 after work. I tried to view the pictures but it said the pictures had been removed :( See you tonight...hopefully.

Sep 25 2007, 12:50 PM
oh yeah...we're totally playing tonite! Not sure about the pictures...here is the address again http://tallahasseeslassies.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php

Have you ever played the short course at WT MOORE ELEM?

Sep 25 2007, 01:39 PM
I haven't played that one, but I have played at Cornerstone Elem. You pretty much have to play gorilla golf at Cornerstone though. Alright well I will see you out there tonight, are you still on the 6:30 schedule?

So...I lost my disc on C during my "best round ever". Couldn't find it, couldn't figure out where to throw from, fell several times while looking for my disc, then it got dark. Oh well, guess I'll have to beat that record another time. See you next week!

CHulsey
Sep 26 2007, 04:48 PM
Ya know...I have lost more discs on Hole C than in the entire 9 months i've been playing. I always lose it to the thick stuff on the left. I HATE THAT HOLE!!!!!!!!! I hope that you didn't hurt yourself. No disc is worth that. Did you find your disc? When it gets cooler and the snakes and other creepy crawly 'friends' are sleeping - we ought to go disc hunting in the woods. ;)

We had 2 brand new ladies come out and join us, and a lady who played for the first time last week come back! We had a great time.

JUST A NOTE: We will not have league on 10/16, but will resume our tuesday evening schedule 10/23 and 10/30 - Our time will change STARTING SUNDAY 11/11 @ 4:30p. Hopefully this will give us a chance to really get some good playing time in, and hopefully draw more ladies out.

Hey turbo - so tell me what kind of discs you want. Light wraiths, yeah? What kind of plastic: Pro, Champ, Star? Color preference? How many?

KBrowne
Oct 11 2007, 10:09 PM
If you could get me 2 wraiths, that would be great! I'd like one star and one pro plastic in the range of 150-160. I'll pay you when you when you the next Tuesday I see you. Thanks and have a great tourney!

I think I forgot that we were still playing the last Tues in October. I didn't get to play in the Machete, I had a date with my fence (we're replacing our old chain link fence with a new wood privacy fence). I am having surgery this Friday so I will be out for about 2 weeks (or so they say). Maybe I could come out and do the pictures and video while I am recovering. I'll be in touch.

Hey are you ladies a part of the WDGA yet? I figured if you girls enjoy posting on here maybe you should come join us at the Women's Disc Golf Association message board. There are 200 members of the WDGA but only a handful of us that post over there. I am posting below, the most recent email I got from Cheryl Eldridge, who is the founder of the WDGA.

Hello WDGA Members,

Celebration Time!! We have reached our 200th
member mark in the WDGA!! Yay!*
To celebrate, I am requesting ALL WDGA members
to post to the message board. If you have not
registered to the NEW WDGA board yet, please
do so now. Even if you have not joined the WDGA
officially, you can still register to the message board.
The only qualification is that you are interested in
disc golf. Even if you are a male, please feel free
to join our discussions on the WDGA board. Disc
Golf is the main topic. The WDGA needs all the
support it can get!

This is important ladies. 'Posting' signifies participation.
The Womens' Disc Golf Association is a club for
'female disc golfers' and that's what we
all are. 'Lurking' is not true participation. Please
begin to cooperate and post, post, post.
We have big plans for 2008 and can not! make
them happen without 100% participation from
ALL WDGA members! Sorry to be a pill. But you
want more female players in tournaments right?
That is why you joined the WDGA. That is why
I started the WDGA. If you give up, I give up.
So.......in closing, Please Post To The Board.
It is a mere contribution to OUR club.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Eldridge,
WDGA Administrator

Hey there! I'll be out there tonight for a trial run. Haven't played in about a month. I think I will be going out around 3:30 since it's getting dark at 5:45 nowadays. Maybe we should think about bumping up the time on Sundays to get in a full round with all the ladies.

Hello Ladies -
We're going to being having our 1st annual (hopefully) Christmas Doubles @ Tom Brown Park (Tallahassee, FL )! We'll be playing best shot (I'll explain the day of) and you can BYOP (bring your own partner) Guys are welcome too! Feel Free to bring your hubbies, boyfriends, best friends or if we have to we'll pull strangers off the street LOL, j/k - but if you don't have a partner, we'll find you one! Pass the word! The only condition is that you have to wear a Christmas hat of sorts (santa, elf, reindeer, etc.) Your choice.

Also, please bring Christmas items: gift wrap, ornaments, bows, wreaths, gifts (boy and girl) and the like. I will be taking these to Refuge House.

Any Questions email me ([email protected]), I think that this will be a blast!

Hey Lady...missed you today for the Ladies round. Hope you're doin alright. We had a good time. Liss, Mary Ann and Heidi came and they are really improving with all of your advice! Pretty soon we'll have an entire intermediate/advanced group of women right here in town. We got in a full 18 (MaryAnn could only play 9) and here are the scores:
Kelly - 56 (27/29)
Liss - 77 (38/39)
Heidi - 88 (46/42)
MaryAnn - 47 (47/n.a.)

P.S. - I went on to play the new 6 holes after we finished and wound up shooting a 77 to tie my best score. I'll beat it soon...hopefully.

Turbo - Thanks for stepping in yesterday. We were decorating for Christmas, and I hate to say it, but I forgot. Thanks for the scores - i'll update the website soon. what time did you all finish? was it really dark or still a little light?

Will you and Mike be able to join us for doubles on the 16?

KBrowne
Dec 03 2007, 11:34 AM
We finished at about 5:30. It was not quite fully dark but if we want to work our way up to playing all 24 holes with the ladies then we'll have to give ourselves a little more time. I think right now everyone is getting used to playing all 18 and building up endurance for a whole round. I went on to play the new 6 by myself after 18 and I finished right at dark.

Mike and I should be able to play the doubles tournament. Will we be splitting up teams or playing with our significant others? Is anyone welcome to play? It would be a good way to get all of the guys to support our efforts. My only concern is Dec. 15 is night golf at Dave's for his birthday so we may not get everyone out there.

On another note, Heidi was saying you won't be out there this weekend either?

CHulsey
Dec 03 2007, 11:57 AM
Doubles is on Sunday the 16th - it is a bring your own partner event, so yes you will be able to play with mike! Any one may play, even if they dont have a partner (we'll match them the day of) However, I would like as many ladies to play as possible. The only must to play is that you wear a holiday hat of some kind. I'll also be taking up donations for the Tallahassee Refuge House: gifts, toys, gift wrap, wreathes, decorations, etc.

Hey Lady! Hope you did well in the tournament.Had a good time yesterday with another new girl joining the group. It was her first time ever playing and she did great! She'll need a lightwieght driver and a putter, I let her use some of my discs yesterday. Heidi has the scores...I was wondering if you would post my scores for 24 since I play 24 each Sunday and then I can compare each week. Last week I shot a 75 and yesterday I shot a 76. See you Sunday :)

Dec 10 2007, 06:03 PM
Hey there Turbo - I didn't to bad this weekend, taking 2nd place. Glad to have a new one join us - what was her name? Do you know if she will be joining us for Doubles next week? I'll make sure that I have discs for her. I would be happy to put your 24 scores on the website. I prefer to do scores by holes, so if you will get me the individual hole scores, I'll put them up! I can't wait until you shoot a 74!

KBrowne
Dec 11 2007, 02:29 PM
You know I am bad with names. I think it was Sheila. She is actually Heidi's babysitter so I think Heidi has her babysitting for next weekend.

That's great that you got second! What class did you play in? I was trying to figure out what tournament it was, was it the Tocobaga?

My scores for the round of 75: A-3, B-5, C-3, D-3, E-4, F-3
My scores for the round of 76: A-4, B-3, C-3, D-3, E-3, F-4

I can almost taste a better round. Each time I think I am going to do it and then something happens. Last Sunday I must have missed 3 par putts by hitting the top of the chains, then the basket, and then falling out. So frustrating. Hopefully when I do beat it I'll beat it by a few.

KBrowne
Dec 11 2007, 02:32 PM
Just kidding. I said 75 and 76, I meant 77 and 78. That would be 5 over and 6 over, respectively. I really can do math.

We had our first doubles event yesterday and it was a HUGE success!!! It was for both the guys and the gals (hosted by the Lassies, of course). We were collecting donations of toys, decorations and wrapping supplies for the local Refuge House. We had 22 people show up to play, we packed the back of my car (Toyota rav4) and the Lassies raised about $70 for our fund. Other than being a little cooler than expected - we had a great time. To all those who came and supported - THANK YOU! Our next short event will be a "Battle of the Sexes" tourney sometime after March! Thank you again!

On behalf of Juliana Korver, I am honored to announce her inaugural ladies-only disc golf event: Juliana Korver Presents La Vie en Rose.

This unique event will take place February 14-15, 2009
at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL.

In Julianas words:

"Are you curious why this disc golf adventure has the name that it does? Literally La Vie en Rose translates to the life in rose. The English equivalent to this is life through rose-tinted glasses or even life is rosy.

If someone looks at something through rose-tinted glasses, they see only the pleasant parts of it. It is a way of life. It is an attitude that I aspire to maintain.

La Vie en Rose is a disc golf event that intends to combine many of the pleasant tournament aspects that we have experienced over the years as well as present new ones that will create a wonderful, memorable and rosy weekend.

This event is about warm fuzzies, feeling good and friendship. I hope that you all can experience the weekend through rose-tinted glasses and perhaps even take the attitude home with you to help you appreciate all that is good in life.

This will truly be a unique weekend that I hope and expect you will love."

Juliana has made the initial event announcement in person at the U.S. Womens Disc Golf Championships and on the PDGA discussion board. For lots more information and to post your support, please visit this discussion thread, which will provide a link to the official tournament website:

http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=875064&an=0&page=2#Post8 75064

Shawn Harrigan and I are the Co-TDs for this event. Wed love to have your input, assistance, and sponsorship. Please e-mail [email protected] if you are inclined to help Florida welcome the ladies of disc golf to a wonderful weekend of competition and comradery.

Yours In Flight,
Mark Denny Ritner
