I was wondering if anyone knew the largest round rating difference for consecutive rounds, with the lowest being rated 950+..
http://pdga.com/tournament/tournament_re...eRatings=1#Open (http://pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6764&year=2007&incl udeRatings=1#Open)

This weekend I threw a 952 first round and a 1062 second round. For those who aren't good at math, thats a 110 point difference. Anyone know of one higher?

The reason I say higher than 950+, cause I know people that will through a round on purpose so its not counted against them and bounce back with a nice round. This statistic should be for the people that still try and DON'T give up!

I have a 911 round followed by a 1057 round HERE (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=5501&year=2007&incl ude_ratings=1#Open). 10 mins before that 911 round I was hit with a disc on my right(throwing arm) shoulder blade from about 80ft with a full on warm-up drive. I was pretty sore the whole round needless to say. Probably cost me some cash. The next round I beat Barry by 4 strokes...

Ken said for rounds OVER 950.

Me and Ken are the only ones who have provided a correct answer.

951-1039 or 88pts

I had a 945-1043 too 98pts but that is below 950.

Hey Friar, my brother has you beat. At his first tournament , his first ever rated round was 770, he followed up with a 932 rated round . This was a 2 round , one day event in Dallas. 162 ratings points....

come on, 4 rounds, 4 different centuries. 700, 800, 900, 1000. That's pretty hard to do... but to make it harder, try doing it while throwing the 1000 rated in the last round, on the last card...

Good one Tiny E!

My best "Tuck" job is now officially a 112 point meltdown at Jacksonville this year...970 to 858. Identical course...identical conditions...sweet. That afternoon gem is double weighted right now too.....superb.

i know it doesn't really fit the criteria but ron turner went 1017/893 at buckhorn in the same day last year as well as 1039/905 at bluemont a little over a month before that.

I just had a 113 point difference this weekend, but falls outside of the 950 rule.

I think my biggest is 135.

I don't think anyone can top this one:

2005 Virginia Open

Brian Skinner #16442 Rnd1 53 @ 963 Rnd2 53 @ 1013 Rnd3 41 @ 1117 Rnd4 51 @ 982

If the rounds must be consecutive, then rnd 3 to 4 is a 135 swing.
If the rounds only have to be in the same tourney and all over 950 then rnd 1 vs rnd 3 is a 154 point difference.

halton
May 08 2007, 04:51 PM
Now if you want to throw out the 950 rule try this one:

2005 Big valley challenge:

John Sheffield 23694 52 918 58 957 113 160 80 737

Rnd 2 to rnd 3 is a 797 point swing

This falls outside the 950 parameters, but whatever. In the King's Cup last year I shot two rounds of 65 the first day, 905 and 901 rated, but bounced back the second day and shot two rounds of 52 (26 strokes better!), 1003 and 1008 rated.

At patapsco a few years ago, I shot a 1015 round in the first round and was in the leader group. Later in the tourney, I shot an 867 round.

148 point difference.

oops

May 09 2007, 10:10 AM
I could see that happening at Patapsco. Let me guess....your 867 was the c-pin round?

By the way....Myers recently informed me that Patapsco will be adding an additional 9 holes! Awesome!

Does that mean the Park Dept will be mowing the place regularly now? Seemed like that had been a problem for a while or have their efforts to mow the course been improved?

Jim told me that one of the State Park maintenance employees recently took up disc golf. Since then, the fairways have been receiving more attention than in previous years. Go figure... :)

Giving a few discs free to maintenance workers can go a long way toward better maintained courses.

Last year at a Tournament in Clearwater, it went a little something like this.

At the Inaugural FriZZak Open at Rennaisance in Charlotte last year the format was original, gold, gold, and i shot the same thing every round 67-923 67-1012 67-1018
and Tizzle I'm well aware this is not a difference above 950 sorry

I can't qualify on the 950 rule... but I just had a 913-794 split, my worst ever. I was playing good golf the first round, 930 feeling, but on the 18th hole (of 21) I threw a thumber and it felt like my back was ripping in half, my sciatica just exploded on me.

Not only that but after deucing the next hole, one of the toughest on the course, with a "wrist only" drive (you know, very little body, just an arm swing and a lot of snappy), I then had a 40 footer for par on the next hole bounce out after landing on another player's disc in the basket (he asked if he should clear, I said no... heh), and then on the final hole missed a five footer then picking up my bag (not even yanking it up) had the straps snap on me. Talk about fun!

The 958 was bad and 11 off a course record and 16 off of a perfect round.

HOT!

For the longest time I had my highest rated round and my lowest rated round come consecutivly via a 13 point swing on my home course. I shot a 8 over in the morning and followed up with a -5 in the afternoon. 880 - 1009 / 129 pt difference. Certainly my biggest gap ever. So do both ratings have to be over 950? I shot a 954 to a 1040 in one tourney, but on different courses.

Since I can't compete legitimately (my best round ever is 1020 or something like that), I'll toss my hat in for the biggest "still trying" swing.
Virginia Open this year, Darkside, I threw a 75 (813 unofficially rated - it's been taken down to be factored into the next update). The next round, same course, I threw a 57 for an 18 stroke swing. I'm not positive, but I want to say it was over 980 rated. That's 160-170+ point swing. I'll try to remember to reupdate this after the next ratings update.

A couple years ago at a C tier in Ohio, I played with Tyler Horne and we played the short pins at a tight wooded course where he shot a 58 which was rated a 911. He didn't give up, just couldn't get anything off the tee. I beat him by 10 strokes that round and I think he was in last place. The next round we played the long pins and he shot a 42 which was rated a 1064 (way low in my opinion) and he crushed the course record by 6 or 7 strokes with a 153 point spread. He came back to get second and I only beat him by 2 overall! Whew... :D

I had an 827 followed by a 975... I know this doesn't meet the requirements of both being > 950... but then that limits the range. My terrible round was from the short tees, the other was from the longs. And it was only one stroke away from being the best round played that day by anyone in the event. Goes to show that the company you play with can affect your game. Also goes to show that I still don't have a decent mental game :D

Biggest gap ever with one round a 1000 rated round...

Round 1 Hambrick - 825
Round 2 Hambrick - 1003

Thanks to two hours laying on my back, four ibuprofen, and some intense stretching and kneading of my back I was able to come back to the middle of the pack by the end of the tournament.

I love how I'm in this thread twice. I'll probably be back in it again in the future. I almost forgot my ibuprofen during the second round of the Kingston Open and almost followed a 1023, my best ever, with another poor round. If I hadn't remembered it, we'd probably be looking two entries in this post ;)
