I was curious if other cities have more than one club. If so, do they work together or was one formed because of differences with the 'original' club. Does each club have a different focus (one runs more tourneys, the other does more promotion)? Do most locals join both clubs or does each club have their own loyal members?

We have 2 clubs here in Denver that are pretty different, just wodering if that is the norm.

Here in Charlotte NC, we have one club....but there are 2 other clubs forming (have formed in the last 12 months) in what is the considered greater Charlotte. Gastonia and Concord are 15-25 minutes from the center city (in opposite directions of each other) and have courses going in as we speak.

The biggest reason/advantage of these new clubs is that they build and maintain relationship with leadership at their respective Park Departments (those towns are in different counties than Charlotte is). We highly recommend "cross-pollination" with membership in each other's clubs. There are many folks that carry multiple bagtags.

Keep in mind that we might not be comparable to the bigger cities since Charlotte is a mid-sized city: 1.5M population in the greater area. It takes 20-30 minutes to get anywhere from anywhere.

Here in Funkytown, we try and preach UNITY. If you can have many hands doing less work for the benefit for all, it works out for the best. But some people do not see it that way . Unfortunately there are some that want it their way , and their way only.. You may have noticed that some people are not very receptive to change.
