Hiyas Everyone,

World War III has just begun on our local message board regarding a Doubles Point Series that I developed for 2007.

I'm asking everyone who's reading this to please quickly read the below rules I've developed and vote YES or NO as to whether you'd participate and/or welcome this into your local club.

Keep in mind we play best shot random draw doubles (based on A and B pools of players.)

Prior to this league, we charged $4 for doubles, with an optional $1 towards an Ace Pot, and optional $1 towards a Birdie pot.

This year, we're charging $4 for doubles, fifty cents for the Doubles Points Series, fifty cents towards the course maintenence fund, and the optional birdie and ace pots.

Oh, current results (to see what it looks like) can be found HERE (http://www.geocities.com/dooteronomy/sldubspoints040907.xls) .

SEASON/SCHEDULE
There will be two "Seasons" for this year's Doubles Point Series*. The first will run from 3/15 to 6/7 and the second will run from 6//14 to 9/6. All official Tuesday Warwick, Thursday Buzzy's and Campgaw Doubles (times TBA) on the forum will be included in calculations.

SCORING
Two (2) Points will be awarded to each individual on a doubles team for every team they beat in the weekly results. California players (single player Doubles) will also be awarded two (2) points for every team he/she beats within a given week. An automatic 2 points are awarded to each individual who shows up.

Example. Five (5) teams of two show up at a weekly doubles event - Each member of each team will be awarded the following, based on finishing position:
1st - Team A 10pts
2nd - Team B 8pts
3rd - Team C 6pts
4th - Team D 4pts
5th - Team E 2pts

If, for example, Teams B and C tied, each team member would receive seven (7) points.

Points will be awarded to both Skylands and non-Skylands members, however payouts will only be available to current Skylands members (non-members will be ignored during final standings and payout calculations.) Points will also be awarded retroactively to members for the entire season when they sign up.**

COST
Fifty cents from every participant (member or non-member) will be taken out of the weekly entry fee to pay for this league.

PAYOUT
There will be a 50% payout structure for all players in the league. Payout structure will follow the PDGA's Tournament Pay Table***: http://www.pdga.com/documents/td/07PayTables.pdf
There will be a separete payout for each season, with the money collected within each season getting distributed according to the above payout structure.

All payouts will be awarded at the end of the year Skylands Players Party.

TRACKING
Weekly results will be tracked and current standings published on a Weekly bases provided the information has been sent to the forum from the Doubles TD. The weekly results and standings will be recorded in an excel file published weekly on our website and in our forums.

Any comments you can provide on this discussing the pros/cons would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

F Doot

Judging by what I saw in the first thread, almost all of that had little to do with Doubles and mostly to do with the ridiculously stupid policy of allowing guest posting on that message board, which encourages anonymous attacks and pushes away longtime volunteers from the local club. The Skylands Disc Golf Club will never get anywhere as long as that ridiculously stupid policy is in place.
