The registration is now OPEN! Group camping is available for $5 a night at the course!

Beaver State Fling (http://www.beaverstatefling.com)

I've played some big tournaments, and this is by far the best run, most fun tournie I've had the pleasure of participating in!

I plan to register soon. Can't wait. Anyone of you plan to go? Can discuss for the flight/rent car/campground.

Here comes my opinion... Are you ready for it?
Milo McIver is the best disc golf course I have played. :D
Solitude in Utah comes in a close second, and I'm looking forward to playing DeLa someday.
I really hope I get to play this tournament. I encourage everyone to consider it. :)

Pending being able to get off work, I will be playing this tournament. I played it last year and had a blast. 2 huge courses, great competition and one of the best run events I have attended to date! If I am able to go, I will be getting a hotel versus camping.

If any amateurs are planning on playing the Beaver State Fling, you'd better hurry up and sign up, the pre-reg is already over $100!

Get uh move on!

So are you camping there at the course Gwillim?

Sounds like a cool tournament from what you say,
also sounds like a looooong drive too.

Bud,
No I'm not camping, I'm moving to Portland in 4 weeks so I'll just be staying at my place, wherever that will be.

However, I'm not sure I will be able to play the BSF. I broke my collarbone last friday mountain biking and I doubt it will be healed in time for the BSF. We'll see, I'm still hoping.

Broke your collarbone! There's another reason to eschew all other sports for disc golf.

Seriously, Ryan, sorry to hear that. I've broken the c-bone before and it sucks. How bad? Did they give you the plaster harness?

ryangwillim
Apr 10 2007, 02:11 PM
The bone is broken into three pieces so I guess it's kind of bad. The Ortho was fairly optimistic though, he said I should be able to resume "aggressive activity" within 8 weeks or so. No plaster harness, he's just got me in a figure eight brace. I'm guessing I might be able to start playing DG around 6 weeks. Luckily it was my right shoulder not my left one.

Will you be asking for strokes once you are back to playing (like an "injured" bagger that we know)?

rhett
Apr 10 2007, 02:27 PM
Sorry to hear about the injury, Ryan.

Perhaps if you tried to eat a little more and get some padding between the "skin" and the "bones" you could better survive a trip over the bars? :D I can give you some tips from the "Rhett Diet", but it works best if you eclipse the 40 year mark first.

Heck No! I'll still be offering strokes. I will be able to practice putting LONG before I can throw a drive. I plan on being much better when I return than I am now.

Believe me, I eat enough, that's not the problem. Maybe at 40 my metabolism will slow down a bit and I can join the "RhettLife Club". :)

Get well soon and make sure you are healed before you make a comeback attempt.

I hope you were at least doing something "stupid man tricks" stupid when you crashed, as opposed to something like "tipping over at a stop-light while clipped in" stupid. :D

I was downhilling with Ben Kotnick. I was hauling [censored] through a section of boulders and waterbars and launched in the air and came down partially in a rut which through me over. Definitely a worthy way to go out!

Ryan,

That is a real bummer, I guess you are going to have to withdraw from the Great Northwest Open at the end of April?

Do you have Tom's contact information to get a refund?

Anyways I agree with Rhett don't come back too early!

Is your PM box full or what?

Mike,
Yeah, my PM box was full, I had no clue. I just emptied it.
I called Tom and left a message so he should be getting back to me soon regarding my refund. I also called Cris and made sure I can get a refund if I'm not ready for the tourney. I'm definitely not going to push my limits with this one. I need it to heal correctly so I don't make it worse later. But since it's my right shoulder I'm sure I'll be able to begin putting practice within 4 weeks, giving me about 4 weeks of dedicated putting practice before the BSF. Putting is my biggest problem so this might actually bode well for my golf game!?

Get well :D

I don't think his accident was "fatal" - you need some vocab work before the SAT's!!!!!

I just signed up for BSF, woo-yah! With a fine report you made on the tourney i couldnt resist going. Maybe i will get to see you there cruising around if you dont play.

Whether I'm playing or not, you'll see me there! I'll take you out for a pint at the local brewery!
I'll see Ben tomorrrow, he's doing good, playing DG just for fun but still a good player, I'll tell him "hello" for you!
Yeah, I think I'm done with bikes, boo!

As my Pops used to say .................." Live Fast , Die Young and have a Handsome Corpse" !!!!!

I used to Skateboard in empty swimming pools !!!!!! I had seen guys break their arms , legs and fracture their skulls !!!!!
, no padding , shirtless , no helmet..........just shorts and shoes !!!!!

I would wimp out and wear a helmet , wrist braces and knee pads !!!! Concrete in the half pipes at skateparks was not soft on the landings sometimes !!!!!! :p Live and Learn !!!!!

My older sister just bought a Harley Davidson Motorcycle !!!! I think it's a smaller one 1200cc.

I'll just stick to Disc Golf and play when I can !!!!!!
