Hey Tammy,
I was going to do duo-sanctioning at first. I wanted
our 2nd Annual to be a B-tier. Once I got all
the facts, I realized I could not afford it to be
B-tier sanctioned by the PDGA since I don't
have capitol. The 1st Annual put me in the
hole alitte. I expected so many more to play.
We only had 18 and most of them were from
the South. Having a women only tournament
turns out to be unpredictable. I had hoped for
atleast 60 WDGA members to play.
So, regrettably, it will be Southern National
sanctioned only this time. Hopefully this tournament will
be a success and I will have some money
left for next year and can afford a PDGA
B-tier. Sorry. I hope some of you will
come anyway. It is going to be held on
a magnificent course in Memphis, Tennessee.
The players packs will be awesome. We will
have good food and fun.
We need to build up the WDGA.
If not, please think about sponsorship for us.

Bud Hill Disc Golf Course - Memphis, Tennessee - USA

Bud Hill is tucked away from civilization on the land that the Danny and Barbara Daniels call their backyard. Bud Hill is a course that offers everything. The course is tight, open, wooded, elevated, and water even occupies fairways of a few holes.

The 18 hole private course has been around for quite sometime. The course gains respect from everyone who plays it. Most pro�s love this course because it challenges every aspect of their game. Most holes are long and require accurate shots in order to receive birdies. Bud Hill is truly one of the best courses in the South. Memphis is extremely fortunate to have it around.

Holes: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10
11 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 - 17 - 18

Bud Hill Hole 1
Hole 1 is a great hole to begin your Bud Hill journey on. This tee box is directly in the woods but the fairway opens to a field toward the basket. The basket is straight ahead. There is only one way to get to the basket and that is the straight. Just past the tee box the trees form a canopy that is about 40 ft. off the ground. A low drive will have to work. Hole 1 favors the righty or the lefty, and rewards the one who can throw it the straightest.

Bud Hill Hole 2
Hole 2 is an elevated tee hole. The basket is located about 50 ft. below the tee box. This is an easy birdie for the righty. A low midrange shot off the tee should do, with a righty hyzer. Do not release it high because the wind can take your disc and push it anywhere it wants. Trees line the whole left side of the hole and have been known to eat up some plastic.

Bud Hill Hole 3
Hole 3 is a level hole that has a very petite fairway. The canopy of the trees provides little room for error. If you hit a tree early the hole becomes much longer than it should be. If your tee shot is straight, you normally end up in birdie or par.

Bud Hill Hole 4
Hole 4 is one of the longest and toughest holes on the course. Before you tee off, you may want to look and see where you want your tee shot to land. This hole�s fairway is split. If you have a roller in the bag, this might be the hole you want to try it on because of the distance. On both sides of the hole are woods. To give yourself a nice approach shot, the landing zone of your tee shot should be to the right of the big tree that splits the fairway. This hole is a tough Par 3 so do not get discouraged if you do not make par.

Bud Hill Hole 5
Hole 5 is uphill. The basket is about 45 ft. above the tee box and straight ahead. It sounds easy and normally ends up in a birdie if thrown correctly unless your disc collides with a tree. If this happens you will fight your way uphill for a par. This fairway has plenty of trees to hit. Do yourself a favor and throw it straight.

Bud Hill Hole 6
Hole 6 is a water hole and normally gives the right hander troubles. The basket is on a 45� grassy slope that leads directly to the pond. The shot is directly over the water with a fade to the right at the end. However, an extremely large tree occupies the path in which you want to throw. On the left of the tree is a cliff that is Out of Bounds. Any farther to the right of the basket and you�ll hit a tree and land in the pond which is Out of Bounds. You are on your own for a birdie.

Bud Hill Hole 7
Hole 7 is a tight hole. The elevated tee box is about 60-70 ft. above the basket. The hole is short but tight. There are two paths, one works 90% of the time, the other works almost never. The correct path has the right hyzer going out over the pond from the previous hole. This path is a risk but rewards you with a shot close enough to birdie or par. The second path is straight. A straight shot most always ends up in hitting a tree close to the tee box so measure twice and throw once.

Bud Hill Hole 8
Hole 8 is very open with woods only on the left side of the hole for a few yards. The tee box sits under a tree but is not affected by it. The shot is generally straight and across the road. If you overshoot the hole on a second shot, you�ll be putting from the THICK bamboo that the Memphis Zoo Pandas eat. To the left of the basket is a big tree. To the right of the basket are: the road, more bamboo, and a very uneasy shot. Make your tee shot count.

Bud Hill Hole 7
Hole 9 is over the road and straight. The kicker on this hole is the 40 ft. gap between two trees that you must shoot to get to the basket. This is a great place to pick up a birdie. You will certainly need it for the holes ahead.

Bud Hill Hole 10
Hole 10 is the flag hole. Directly behind the basket is the flagpole which so proudly flies the American Flag at Bud Hill. This shot is straight and the tee box is tucked far enough into the woods to hit an early tree. Most of the hole is open field but normally there is a wicked crosswind that tends to push discs off line just a bit.

Bud Hill Hole 11
This hole is probably the most bogeyed or double bogeyed hole on the entire course. The tee box leads into the woods called �hippy hollow.� You are expected to hit the center gap and hope. A long straight tee shot leaves you in good shape yet still a long way from the basket. The basket is on the other side of a ravine and with many trees and in-front-of and around it. Shoot for bogey and hope that you get par on this one.

Bud Hill Hole 12
Hole 12 is a straight shot. This tee box is elevated and so is the basket. A ravine occupies the middle of this hole. The fairway houses many trees. If a tree is struck you most likely will be making your second shot from the bottom of the ravine. Release your tee shot straight and level and you are in the money.

Bud Hill Hole 13
Hole 13 is long. Most of the hole is open but pecans trees are in rows around the basket. Also, to the right of the basket is a thicket of trees, shrubs, and limbs. To the left of the hole is a barbed wire fence line which is Out of Bounds. Throw it long and straight, and hope to have a good clean approach shot. Some try a roller but that is up to you.

Bud Hill Hole 14
Hole 14 is another water hole. The right hyzer path tempts you to flirt with the infamous �Pop�s Pond.� The left side of the hole has woods and only opens up toward the basket. The shots are: straight and precise, or a right hyzer that leaves you hoping. Stay clear of �Pop�s Pond� unless you want your scorecard to have a big circle around the number of strokes you took on the hole.

Bud Hill Hole 15
Hole 15 is the �Trailer hole.� It parallels the gravel road you traveled in on and throws toward a slight upslope. The shot is straight and a slight upslope. �Pop�s pond� is on the right but rarely in play. A good long drive normally results in par.

Bud Hill Hole 16
Hole 16 has two options. The basket is straight ahead but between gaggles of trees that line each side of the fairway. The hole crosses the gravel road and is long. One option is to throw it straight down the middle. Another option requires a hard right hyzer out over the road and around to the right of the right-side fairway trees. This route is long but sometimes can do the trick if thrown correctly. A birdie on this hole is definitely a bonus.

Bud Hill Hole 17
Hole 17 tee box is tucked into the woods briefly. The shot is a long right hyzer to the basket. The basket is along a tree line which prevents anything other than a right hyzer. A good long tee shot leaves you putting for birdie. Don�t be short or you will run the risk of playing around or through the tree line.

Bud Hill Hole 18
Hole 18 is a great way to finish Bud Hill. The clubhouse is in the backdrop and the basket lies straight ahead. A huge evergreen is 15 ft. in front of the basket and is directly between the basket and tee box. The tee shot is over water and around the tree so be extra careful when choosing discs. A right or left hyzer will do the trick but make sure you have enough distance to carry the pond.

The WDGA Championships for 2007 will be in
3 weeks from now. I know you would expect
me to be all over the net with excitement.
Well, not this time, due to the sad circumstances
at home. My Daddy is dying. We don't know how
long he has. His heart is working only 20%.
During his last cardiac arrest, the oxygen
was blocked from his brain and now he
has brain damage. He is in a state of
confusion and it is so very sad. I have
been at the hospital with him for the
past few weeks. I took off today
because I am so far behind in my work
and the WDGA stuff.
The Championships will go on as
scheduled and I hope all of you
will attend. I do plan to be there
and will play. Of course, should
the worst happen, I will leave
and head back to GA immediately.
There are many wonderful
people helping me run this
tournament this time. So
plan to go to Beautiful Tennessee
and play your best game!!
It is going to be an awesome
'Women Only' tourney.

Hi Everyone,
Don't get discouraged. This tournament is going to be
great!!! I totally plan to be there. If the worst happens
with my Daddy, there are lots of others running this tournament
with me and they will make sure it is still a BLAST!!
We need all you lady disc golfers to make this tournament
a priority. If we are going to make a difference in the
numbers of females playing disc golf, we have to represent!!!
Some have begun to come forward and cancel and some have
changed their 'yes' to 'maybe'. This is not good. We all
need to band together and make this Women's tournament all
it can be. Not to mention, you can't let yourselves miss
the extreme fun everyone there will have. Ladies of the South,
this is your chance to show the Ladies of the North what you've
got. Ladies of the North, Com'on and show us Southerners what
you are bringin'. Sweet and friendly competition among us females.
How often do we get to all get together and play disc golf?
C'mon, lets make this a concrete plan. K'? I need your support.
The WDGA needs your support.

Directions to BUD HILL Disc Golf Course in Millington, Tennessee
(Memphis Mailing Address)
Follow your map to Nashville. Take I-40 West until you get to exit 25/hwy 385.
Bear off to your right and follow signs to Millington. Follow to the end of the road
approx 15 miles, to Hwy 51. Take a right to get to the WDGA host
hotel. (To get to BUD HILL) Turn left heading South on Hwy 51.
Go to the fourth traffic light (approx 8-9 miles). This is the intersection of Hwy 51 & Watkins-
(big intersection traffic light). Turn right onto Watkins.Go approx 3 miles.
You will cross over Loosahatchie Rivera (long bridge). Once you've crossed
the bridge take your 1st left - Northaven Road.
Go to the stop sign. Turn left on Circle Road. At the next stop sign turn left
onto Benjestown Road. This is a curvy road. Go approx 1 mile. Watch for
the sign that says Bud Hill. Barbara & Danny's house will be on your right.
Turn on the gravel road next to their house. Follow the gravel road around
the house and up the hill to the Bud Hill club house. Park in the area near
the club house.
