Okay, so here's the question... do you c*o*c*k your wrist in when you putt? I mean... I was practicing tonight, doing my usual 100 from 20 nightly thing, and I just started cocking my wrist in and all of a sudden the 20 foot putts felt like 10 footers, like I couldn't miss.
I've always putted with a relatively stiff wrist, kept it held stiff straight, and then on release I just snapped it out. I never brought it inward prior to that and now I just did it and it felt like I gained a whole new level of range that I didn't have before? But it feels unwieldy... am I just not used to it or is cocking your wrist in like this an inconsistent thing to do?

adding another variable, such as cocking your wrist, usually means that you will have a more inconsistent result... It's really that you need to do what works for you.
Technically speaking you want to eliminate variables and holding the disc at more of a 12oclock position or cocking your wrist more usually results in more spin, but also more of a chance of missing to the sides.
a little wrist movement will happen, but to overemphasize is usually bad.
IF you can get it to work then that's all that you need to do. What works for many might not work for you and vice versa.
I tend to be a pitch/lob/push putter. By using this style it helps to cut down your misses to only 2 directions- Up and down. people who spin putt have the possibility to miss in all 4 directions. When I miss i usually miss low and rarely ever to a left or right direction.
DO what works for you. IT's all about being consistent and having a solid technique.

I have heard of a lot of players that wrist their cocks too much and that can also cause varying inconsistant results

In general, the more spin you put on a disc while putting, the more chance for error. I've seen a lot of guys putt this way that have just as much chance of making an 80 footer as they do a 20 footer. When you're dialed in with this approach, it's hard to miss, but if it's even slightly off...it can mean big trouble.
I've progressed to eliminate the wrist as much as possible. One thing I've found that gives me the same type of feel is trying to get the nose of the disc up a little bit to give it more float, which requires less wrist.

Everyone is right about the inconsistancy with loading (cocking) your wrist, unless you know what you are doing. He does the same thing with his roc shots. One of the pro's by me loads his wrist and has one of the deadliest putters you will ever see. 80's like they are 40's. He rarely misses inside 40. He only jumps out of 60 ft. It is a sigght to see everyday. Sometimes its just mind boggling.
He doesnt play many tourny's so not that many people see it. Nikko saw it the first round at oly spring opener.
So whatever works for you.

My standard putt is regular (whatever that means). But when I need my CT Challenger to go straight on a putt and not hyzer at the end, I #$*&$! my wrist to the point that the back of my hand is facing the basket. It does put a lot more spin on the disc so it needs to hit dead center to assuredly stick.
All in all, if you practice anything enough, you will get good so do what's comfortable for you.
