Actually I don't know nothing about the 2007 USWDGC except this:
At IOS #4 Discontinuum's Midwest Nationals Qualifier, some women are going to win paid entry fees to the 2007 USWDGC. The woman who shoots the best score on Saturday will win a paid entry to the division of her choice. The highest scoring amateur woman will also win a paid entry to the division of her choice. We might also do something for the Sunday best score for a woman rated below 800.
Well, that, and it's in Peoria for the last time this year. It could go anywhere next year.

Here in Texas, we are raising money with the goal of providing entry fees for all Texas ladies wanting to make the Last Dance in Peoria. We are calling it TIP, Texans In Peoria .
The profit from the Sunday lunch at Texas States next month, some towel and shirt sales specifically directed to this cause and a few other neat things are happening to make sure we have a more Texas ladies there than in past years.
I also heard that 7 clubs have been invited to make a bid at women's nationals for the next two years 2008/9. Our club is putting together a propsal!

Awesome to hear and read about various events and programs that are trying to get more women to the USWDGC. That just encourages me to find some way to do the same thing at one of my events later this year as well!
Like last year, online pre-registration (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=106) is available through my website. In 2006 I did a surprise raffle drawing and randomly selected two TakeFlightToday registrants and gave them special prizes. I'll do the same this year.
Get signed up one way or another ladies because you don't want to miss the year's biggest women's only event!

Then protest and get signatures from all the ladies. Sure, we have the BG Ams, and BG Open, but this is our chance to host a major. Even if its only once its still a major, and its the Women's Nationals. It's growing larger every year like the BG Ams.

I'm surprised Kansas City didnt get it. I heard they've been campaigning for the tourney quite a while.
Bad timing for us. We would have had to present our 2009 combined Worlds bid and Women's bid together at the same summit. We gave it a shot trying to prepare for both events, but it was just too much to do in a short time, and in the end, we didn't have enough time to present a Women's bid that was up to our standards. The PDGA only gave about 2 months notice from the time the RFP was issued (January 22) to the time the bid needed to be submitted. (March 31) If that was the only event we were working on, we'd have presented a great bid, and I feel confident we'd have gotten it.
Plus, I'm not sure the BoD would have felt good giving us both Worlds and the USWDGC, but you'd have to ask them. We may bid on it the next time and I feel we'd stand a good chance of getting it after 2010. I'm sure the other cities will do great jobs. I know the group in the QC are really excited (that area's disc golf scene is really starting to take off), and I'm sure Kansas City transplant Matt Ambrose will have a great deal to do with the 2008 event in Huntsville.
KCers are everywhere. :)

At IOS #4 Discontinuum's Midwest Nationals Qualifier, some women are going to win paid entry fees to the 2007 USWDGC. The woman who shoots the best score on Saturday will win a paid entry to the division of her choice. The lowest scoring amateur woman will also win a paid entry to the division of her choice. The lowest scoring amateur woman on Sunday will also win a paid entry fee provided that she is playing in an amateur division.
The player pack for all amateurs is 15 Brass good for anything we have, or 24 Throw Discraft/DGA bucks, good only for Discraft and DGA stuff. We'll have 50 Throw Discraft player packs available each day.

we will be playing short tees at mcnaughton with the exception of the extra 6 holes that we have to add. Yes, it will be longs both rounds at ICC and both rounds from shorts at Northwoods. An extra 6 holes will be added to all courses so it will be 2 rounds of 24 Fri. and Sat, and of course only 1 on Sun, then the final nine which has been changed a bit, should be fun!!! Why aren't we playing Bradley this year?
ladydiscer
Sep 20 2007, 08:45 AM
Hey Erin! The reasoning behind not playing Bradley this year is that we wanted to keep all the ladies together again and they think they cannot add 6 more holes to bradley, plus they say there is not enough of a score differential there. So, with that said, we will only be checking in at bradley and nothing more. Unless you would want to play some doubles there thurs. night??? It depends on what else is going on but that is a way we could still play it for those that want to. Just a casual round of $2 doubles to start up the fun! Let me know.

Marshal Miller checking in ...
I hope everyone is getting excited for this year's event. I need to remind everyone that Old Man wants me to shut down ONLINE REGISTRATION (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=106) on Monday, September 24th.
Currently, the up to date registration list (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6282) shows 57 in the field. That's a tad light from years past so I hope we can get pretty close or exceed previous years.
It is exciting to see that there were 28 women in the open field at Pro Worlds this year and there are currently 23 registered for Peoria. That's very impressive.
I have spoken to Old Man and to the PDGA about the additional holes. As Discette referenced, additional holes won't likely be added unless they are *needed*. Getting to a registered list of 72 is when we'll worry more about adding holes.
I will add a few more updates on here as things wrap up but please get your registration in the mail immediately or get online and get it done. Either way - get yourself to Peoria as it is the last time they are hosting the US Women's Disc Golf Championships (at least for a few years).

Could I ask for more clarity on this - is it definitely going to be 2 rounds of 24 on Friday and Saturday .. 48 holes a day .. and then 1 round of 24 on Sunday plus the final 9. Or are there only going to be added holes (i.e., >18 holes per round) if the registration exceeds 72? In other words, if there are <72 registrants, the rounds will be 18s? Way to go Team Michigan for representing! Thanks to Mom, Oldman and Bur, Peoria Frisbee Club and all the other sponsors of the tournament. The courses were absolutely beautiful, the weather was perfect. I am gonna miss Peoria so much! Thanks for all my roommates too, Sharon, Mel, Sheila and Jonna, cuz they were awesome to room with!

For what it's worth ... I was very concerned about a USWDGC review getting lost in the shuffle with the USDGC going on just days later. However, I still put together an article (http://www.pdga.com/news/articles/a-036.php) which is viewable by clicking on the link or you can go to the PDGA front page (http://www.pdga.com) and go from there.
I'm certainly a far cry from a professional journalist but I enjoy telling the story of the USWDGC and I hope you all enjoy it.
