Hello Everyone, I am going to run a Mini Tournament sometime within a month so I can raise some money for the cost of medical bills for my Mother In-Law (Staceys' Mother). She has been diagnosed with breast cancer. We went to the doctor's office today to find out what stage the cancer is in and Thank God we caught this early. She still needs to have surgery, radiation and possibly chemotherapy done. I want to maybe set up some temporary holes at San Pedro Park if possible and play a mini there but am not sure if I would need to contact the city for this? If this were to happen at San Pedro Park I would need some baskets from you all to use that day. If I cannot make this mini happen there then it will be at Live Oak or Universal City. All money for entry fees ($10-20 a person) will be donated to my Mother In-Law Terri Gilbert. I will have some CTP's to give away and will also have an Ace Pot and if it is not hit during play, there will be a CTP for it. I am thinking of having some trophies made for the top three places. If anyone would like to make a donation via Paypal, my email address is opereida@satx.rr.com. Please state this is for Breast Cancer. More to come (date, time, etc:). Thanks to all and God Bless!!!

Pain-stakingly played McClain last week and hit 1 of 18 fairways, so I do believe all the baskets are in.

I will be thereto play and if you have a raffle, I have a few collectables.

I will have a raffle if I can get enough items together. Maybe I will throw in an awesome 1st Run Gator Purple with Rainbow Foil Stamp (She's a Beauty!!!). I am trying to select a date for this and almost every weekend there is a tourney in Texas. It is only going to get worse in March so I am leaning towards next Saturday 2-10-07. I know Z-Boaz is going on but I didn't see any Live Oakers signed up. Would this be a good date? I will make a decision by the weekend.

Oh, and I just wanted to say a little about the kind of person Terri is. She actually found out she had cancer last Friday and did not want to tell us at that time because she knew we were playing the Ice Bowl. She waited until Sunday evening after we had all our fun. What a Great person. She really cares about her kids and puts them before her. Thank You All, Again!!!

Everyone..........thank you! It's absolutley amazing to see how people have come together in time of need. The prayers alone have helped because there is a force greater than us and I believe God is watching over all of us.

Theresa Paez Garcia-Gilbert (my mommy) is the strongest most courageous person I know. Terri has always gone above and beyond for her family, friends, and whoever crosses her path. I'm sure she can't wait to meet you.

There are a few things she loves the most in life (aside from family & friends) and that's tennis........tennis.........and tennis!!! :)She is one of the highest ranked players in her division (4.0)and has always shown me that hard work pays off (Oh, and always be kind). I'm counting on that attitude to get her through this journey. Her favorite color is yellow so, I'm guessing her and tennis were made for eachother. But, after this journey, I believe PINK will be her next favorite color. God be with you mom and I hope for a fast recovery..............where the tennis courts will be waiting for you. I think we can all relate on loving a sport so, let's sport our way through this and Fight Breast Cancer together.

I think Bird is leaning towards Feb 10th, which sounds good. With this being soon, I could use help on ideas and spreading the word. THANKS DISCGOLFERS...YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!!!

Peace & Love,
Stacey Pereida

Disc Golf Fundraiser Mini Tournament To Help Fight Breast Cancer

Where: Bryan McClain Park (San Antonio)

When: Saturday February 10, 2007

Time: Sign Up Before 9:30 A.M, Tee Off Shortly After

Cost: All Players $10.00 Each Optional Ace Pot $3.00 (No Payout), All proceeds will go towards Terri Gilberts' Breast Cancer Medical Expenses.

All players will play one 18 Hole Round and there will be CTP's, Ace Pot and Raffle items for $1.00 a chance. I want to give something back to the players so I will try to make sure everyone leaves with a little something. I don't think there has been a Mini played at McClain Park yet so I want someone to set the course record and I will pay that person $20.00 out of my pocket. :) We are going to try and have Stacey's Mom come out and watch some Great Disc Golf. If No Aces are hit during play we will have a CTP for the money. We will have two divisions, Open and Am. I'm sure I left something out and will add if needed here. If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know. Sorry for such short notice but I know how busy the PDGA Tour is in Texas the next couple of month's and I felt this was the best date. Help spread the word to those without computers (C'mon it's the year 2007). Thanks...

Today was my first time playing McClain. Will be a really nice course once it gets trampled enough and some more clearing done. I am going to put some temp tee signs up and maybe spray paint arrows pointing to the next hole because the way it is now, you WILL get lost.

Still going to happen Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold!!! Forecast shows 10% chance of rain and low of 42 and high of 57 (chilly but not freezing) light 7-9 mph winds. Shawn Low has just matched my $20 for the lowest score which makes it $40 for the winner :) Thanks Shawn ;)

Staceys' Mom will be out there right around when we are finishing up the round. Come one, come all!!! The course looks really good, Thanks Everyone for helping out!!! See you tomorrow....

Played late Friday evening (back 9 anyway), and the course is looking real nice. I can see that where a little more clearing is in order, but this is definitely ready for a mini (bring your stomping shoes). See everyone there!

PS - Brian, I'll have the CD I promised you way back when with the Photoshop files for LOSO artwork.

I want to Thank You All for showing up to the mini today. I wish it could have been a little warmer but at least the wind was not too bad and it was not raining. A total of 24 players showed up to raise $822.00 (I added money donated from CTP Winner, Overall Winner and Donations) to help battle breast cancer. You all do not know how Thankful we are to have such a Great Disc Golf Family here and just all around caring people. The raffle itself raised $172.00 and I want to again Thank all individuals who donated those nice items. :) I was surprised when Stacey's name was called out for the mini basket because we agreed not to purchase any raffle tickets. Come to find out my brother Ernie bought one ticket for her and one for Laura K. Raffle Winners that were not present were Jeff McClanahan (Bug Man) and RT Evans. I have RT's items and will get them to you next time I see you. Jerry Lively has Jeff's item. Thanks Laura for helping me with this event, I did not have a chance to tell you that. YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!!! :)

Dear Bird & Cat -

I can't find the words to express how grateful I am for all your efforts and committment to helping Dad & I during this very difficult time. The disc golf tournament was beyond what I expected. The money will come in handy since I'm having MD appointments every week now. Most of all I'm impressed with the friends you have in the disc golf community. These are such good people and I'm proud you have friends and competitors with hearts the size of TEXAS!

Please forward this message of thanks to all those who participated:

To each one of you who participated, donated your valuables and donated your time, you have my deepest gratitude. You have truly touched my heart. I will never forget that day.

No matter what the out come of my journey, I am comforted in knowing my kids, Bird and Cat will be "okay" because they have good, loving, caring friends like you. Knowing that, was the best gift from that day.

With weekly doctor and diagnostic appointments your generosity will help so much. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Terri Garcia-Gilbert (Stacey & Bird's Mom)
