depends on how dedicated you are to playing and practicing. How many times a week do you play, how often an how long do you practice puTTing.

I play and pratice almost every day.

Might need to Video yourself and compare what you are doing to top players and try to emulate their technique.

the thing i most practice is my drives and putting.i do notice if i have a bad drive my up shot makes up for it.

Practice puTTing is the easiest way to get better....It builds confidence, and that will help with puring gaps and tough upshots...Rating doesnt really mean much...They are still flawed.

depends where u live.....You can be an awesome player and live where there is no 1000 rated players and it will take forever for your rating to go up...But if you move to say North Carolina, where the talent pool is so huge, your rating will go up or down very fast.

I would say then you need to play in some bigger tournies where there are going to be high rated players, to see the type of ratings you get with them in the tourney.

That is a hard question to answer. In fact you can not really answer it without......"it depends".

For some players, the game comes to them naturally and they are 980-1000 rated after 2 years of playing/practicing regularly. These people might have the perspective that you (and me) suck :o

Others have been playing regularly for years and are sub 900 no matter how hard they try. They would say you are doing great.

The nicest thing about ratings IMO is that they allow you to have a nice objective standard on which you can judge your improvement (or decline in my case) against. The more tournament rounds you include, the more accurate/objective your rating becomes.

oh so it just depends on what other people think pretty much

For reference, there are 7000+ current and non-current members (out of 17,000+) with ratings over 912 so at least you're in the upper half.

I just turned 30.
I have been playing for about 3 years.
I am currently rated 899. 912 is still a dream...

What you might want to do to get the numbers is go to the ratings page for Amateur Men (http://www.pdga.com/player_ratings.php?offset=0&division=M1O&order=rating) and scoll through the pages looking for players with similar PDGA numbers as yours. Check out what their ratings are. These are guys who have most likely been playing around the same length of time as you.

Of course, this will not be completely accurate since the numbers do not tell the whole story: one can join the PDGA after having played for years and having become very accomplished before one's first rating. Or they could have joined when they first started playing and then only be playing and practicing infrequently.

Dischound..I would say it takes about 10-12 events or 40-50 rounds for your rating to "level off". You only have 16 sanctioned rounds and your three updates have fluctuated a lot - 926-894-912. I doubt you were a better player in June than you are now, you just had a better string of sanctioned rounds. Over time your "tournament game" will develop and your rating will be more accurate. So play about 7-8 more events before you attach a rating onto yourself.
