Would anyone know why the IL State Championships held on July 9th have results up under the PDGA Tour page but it's not listed on any of the players records? Everyone who played that tournament does not have a stat for it under their page!!

The TD report went in not so long ago. You should get stats with the December stats update and ratings with the December ratings update.

Not that I had or will have anything to do with any of that. Having played the tournament i happened to notice when the results went up [early November] so that is how the process will work. About December 1 sometime you should have season points and season cash from the tournament show up in your stats and on the 12th or so they are updating ratings.

Are you sure the td report is in Bruce? Adoni posted results for Illinois States and Channahon on the tour page about a week after the event. They've been sitting there since with unofficial ratings. I have sent out several reminders for all Illinois TD's to get their TD reports in. I have not received a response from the TD about this event. There is a post on Jolietdiscgolf.com asking the same question with no answer. I'm hoping it's in. All other Illinois events are done.

No, not certain at all. I thought I saw a post on Discontinuum saying that the TD reports were sent in but now I cannot find it. I'm old and easily confused.

Can I quote you on that Bruce? An unsavory character might use that quote against you in other discussions on this message board. No worries though .... your secret is safe with me. :D
Just kidding. Hope you're still planning on attending the Hippodrome tournament in Augusta on Dec. 16. My offer to give you a guided tour of the IDGC still stands.

Save it and quote me later.
Looks like we'll be a day or two too late for the tournament. Kelsey and Kira want to postpone the trip south for a couple of things they have going on.
What do you think are the best courses in South Carolina? Really good would be long and short tees and a course routing an idiot can follow. We're driving down the West Virginia Turnpike and through the Carolinas. It is a goof around vacation -- nothing really scheduled. We're going to spend $600 on gas and travel south for a bit.

Bruce,
You'll definitely want to play Earlewood Park in Columbia South Carolina. Its one of the best short courses you will find anywhere. All of the Charlotte courses are nice and the locals are super friendly. Check out the Innova warehouse if you are in Rock Hill.

I second the motion that all of the Charlotte courses are nice....I especially liked Hornet's Nest....although I haven't played it in 9 years. Renaissance is supposed to be awesome as well. I hope to get to the Carolinas again one of these days...maybe in a couple of years.

If the Illinois State Championships AND Channahon Classic results are not in, does this mess with Steve Slater's record???

I heard there is enough information to submit scores for both tournaments, so hopefully those will count for everyone. Brett is closer to the good scuttlebutt than I am. He has been dealing with it as your state coordinator. It sounds like it is not Tony's fault. He volunteered to upload scores and do the TD report and it sounds like he has not gotten the necessary information to complete the TD reports. It also sounded like Chanahon might be ready to be submitted.

It's not in the first five batches. Maybe Dave has it in the final batch which I haven't seen yet.

There is more discussion on the results here. I know for a fact the TD report is not in. Jon posted a phone number to call to ask about results.

OK so speaking about the Channahon tournament, where did it disappear to? The Sunday portion of that event is now nowhere to be seen on the tour page or in my results anymore. Did something happen to rule out that tournament as official or what?

Results for Channahon are still unofficial. The tournament is still listed on the Tour page, but will not be linked to your info until they are official.

Hmm thanks for that Mike...I guess my eyes were deceiving me before when I looked for it on the tour page. So then I guess my next question is to why would a tournament from 3 months ago that has had the results posted for about that same amount of time still be unofficial as of a new rating update?

The scores were uploaded, but that does not make it official. The TD needs to give the PDGA their money and turn in the TD report that has a lot more detail (financials, etc.) than just the scores. Until that is done, the tournament is not official.
It is a shame that it is the players of the tournament that get hosed on this. IL States was in July, Channahon in September. I'll probably skip this TDs tourneys for next year and see if it gets any better.

The first tournament I played in was run by this Disc Golf Hall of Famer. It was non-sanctioned and still ranks as the most enjoyable tournament in which I have participated. All of Gary's tournaments are both well run and fun -- more fun than most other area tournaments.
To me, that's what Disc Golf is all about -- fun. While I understand the frustration of those who are playing for ratings and/or points, it would be a shame for this most excellent TD to quite running tournaments due to naysayers and frustration over hoop-jumping.
Keep running tournaments, Gary, sanctioned or not!!!

How does skipping tournaments make things better? I'm not ragging, just asking. Personally, the next time I see Gary I'm going to ask him if he needs any help. One man has run things in the J-town area FOREVER. It's about time other people get involved.

Skipping tournaments does not make things better (volunteering does). It does provide an opportunity to express one's opinion with one's cash. My wife graciously allows me to play tournaments and I need to be respectful and not overdue it for her benefit and that of my kids "Is daddy gone disc golfing again?". Therefore I need to wisely select which tournaments I play/support.
Gary has done some great stuff for disc golf in the J-town area for many years. My local course was designed by him and I am thankful for that everytime I sneak in a quick 9 on the way home from work. New volunteers do need to step up.
I have been giving my volunteer time to help replace baskets and other course maintenance at some other courses. I call parks departments to help them know where course maintenance issues exist. I often bring a garbage bag along to help clean up as I throw a round. I show up early and help out at other tournaments. People volunteering is what will help continue to make the Chicago area a good place for a disc golfer to live despite having only some much to work with given the topology of the land.
My first tournament was a non-sanctioned tournament at Mokena. The free disc with entry was a misprint leftover. Admittedly I didn't know what to expect, but I had last place sown up easily after the 1st round. I then played a couple sanctioned IOS tournaments and found the value for my dollar was much better. I wasn't an am out supporting a pro, I was an am out playing against other ams.
Since Gary decided to sanction the IL States this year I thought I would give it another go (at the time I also thought it was supposed to be a B tier). Anyway, this time the player pack was a tourney stamped X plastic disc. Much improved over my first experience. Having spotters out on the course was great. Steve definitely helped me avoid a lost disc penalty on #2. Not having the tournament officially in is, yes, just annoying, but it is part of what I expect when I play PDGA tourneys. Since I need to be selective, I generally won't look at anything lower than a B tier and want to play at tournaments that a run like a B tier.

What this boils down to is simply getting the TD reports in a timely manner. PDGA ratings and points have really boosted interest into keeping and bringing in new players to the PDGA. It is also important to keep players ratings as up to date as possible.
As a PDGA member that paid $50 last year & $75.00 this year I expect TD's to get their TD reports in before the deadline. Each TD fills out a sanctioning agreement which cleary states that they must do so.
I want to thank Adoni for his help. He had the scores with unofficial ratings posted within a week after both IL States and Channahon. From a person who has filled out a TD Report and seen many others the hard work was done. Entering the names and scores is all the work. It should have taken less than an hour to complete the rest.
