This statement was taken from the Texas Parks & Wildlife press releases: TP&W (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/newsmedia/releases/?req=20050131e)

Harris County: the Harris County MUD #120 requests support to acquire 1.25 acres by purchase and develop a 21.7-acre park located in the east area of the MUD and the west area of Harris County. Proposed development includes a 1.25-acre open space dedication, playground, xeriscape and wetlands interpretive gardens with water reclamation irrigation, 2.14-mile trail, six fitness stations, four benches, four rest areas, pavilion, eight picnic tables with two grills, four picnic shelters with tables and grills, volleyball court, soccer field, three baseball fields, disc golf course, nature area, .1-mile nature trail, interpretive area, water fountains, and irrigation. The local match consists of a cash donation from the Mission Bend Greenbelt Association, ($409,965).

Does anyone know what park this statement might be making refrence to?

I don't know where in Harris County that is, but 21.7 acres is NOT enough land to install that list of amenities.

Kat will confirm later, but she thinks that MUD 120 in Keymap zone 487Z...which is roughly FM 1093 and Hwy 6.

FM1093 is Westheimer Road, isn't it?

I spent 20 minutes this morning looking for it. I found some stuff, but nothing specific to district #120. It looks like it ought to fall somewhere between I-10 and 290 and West of the beltway. WHCWCD has its own website, but it sure wasn't apparent about how to locate district #120.

I'm just hoping that it isn't yet another 9-hole course...there are only 3-4 9-hole courses in town that see any use...most everyone prefers playing an 18-hole course.

Ok...Kat was dead on. 487Z in your programs. :)

MUD 120 is roughly bordered by the Westpark Toll Road, Addicks Clodine Road (sort of, part of the MUD extends beyond it), FM 1093/Westheimer, and Hwy 6. Westpark (the street) cuts through the middle of it.

From the Houston GIMS map, it shows that almost the entire eastern third is a park-like area. So this course would be probably be in that area (along Hwy 6).

And I'd like to add: Good to see yet another westside course. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
