question?

The basket.

Definitely not the ground or the sky.

That question was pretty vague. What sort of answer are you looking for?

Exactly....................also depends if your left or righthanded , but line up the center pole and find a spot left or right center.....those are all good spots , even if you aim left or right !!!!! :D

Probably a better way to explain that !!!!! ;)

As a righthanded putter going with a straight on to slight hyzer... from 20-25 feet and on inward I look at the row of chains slightly to the right of the pole and aim for that. From 25-35ish I aim for the row of chains next out... and once I'm out 40 feet and beyond I tend to aim for the row of chains at the right most of the basket. With the disc hyzering in a lil more over each little bit of distance that tends to work for me.

I also try to grab the bottom link in the row of chains and line my eyes straight up the row to the exact link I want to hit and I aim for that link. I usually line my eyes up like that about three times to make certain I'm hitting concentration on the same link each time and I'm zoned in on it.

Then I stop thinking and throw.

What about the wind, the sun, the barometric pressure, the landing area?

Stop over-thinking it and putt.

What about your footing, how much altitude are you gaining or losing, hows your grip, what are your fingers doing , is your hand sweating, how far up or down is the nose of your disc, which way is your front foot facing, which way is your back foot facing, what is your off hand doing, what's for dinner, who's looking at you?

The basket is about the size of a person so I just pretend I'm playing catch instead of getting pressured by the thought that IT'S a PUTT

If that metal player doesn't catch my throw it's the basket's fault for not catching my obviously good toss. We'd all miss fewer putts if baskets were manufactured by a great Ultimate player...

that is a very generalized question since the line of every anhyzer and hyzer putt will vary by style.

if someone puts a hyzer putt out to the right and fades it back in, that is much different than someone that line drives a putt straight in but happens to have it on a hyzer angle.

the same goes for anhyzer putts.

You say this like its easy, though. Maybe some people (yourself?) can blank out everything and just throw a disc into a basket. But different people have different mentalities. It isn't as simple as "stop thinking and putt" for everybody.

For myself, for example, I've never been able to do the blank out and go thing. Running Cross Country in college that was one of my biggest issues too and I spent years TRYING to blank everything out and just run... but it didn't happen. And it won't happen. Simply put: some people just can't stop thinking.

So for those people it becomes a matter of focus, as opposed to blanking. Myself? I need to find a point (the link in the chains I mentioned in my earlier post) and simply focus every thought on that link, to where although I'm still thinking, my only thought over and over is on that link I'm staring at.

To give the advice to stop thinking and putt assumes that everybody can do this... but not everybody can.

True. I know some who get really mental when they play.

"Simply put: some people just can't stop thinking."

Exactly. In this case , you have to absorb everything going on around you and go with the flow. Timing is key.

The thing I just learned this week at leagues, once you get to the point that you can hit a 20 footer consistantly, just keep telling yourself you can afford to go at it hard. I only missed one inside 30 feet that wasn't obstructed.

Meditation revolves around clearing the mind of thoughts...and when they do occur - you just let them go away like a wisp of smoke.

This is easy. I putt both ways. When I putt, I look about 5-7 feet past the basket on the ground, because that is where they all end up. For hyzers, I look slightly to the right, for anny's I look more to the left side. I hit my mark EVERY time!

I did pop a 100+ foot putt , with a little Anhyzer and stung it left side when I was playing doubles last weekend.

And it was not a jump putt either.
It really depends how much snap and spin you have.

Yea , it was a money putt. http://www.frostjedi.com/phpbb/images/smiles/dance.gif

35 feet and in I just throw it at the basket. Beyond 35 feet all the way to 100, I look at the basket, then I imagine the flight path that my disc is going to need to get to the basket and try to hit that line. A lot of times, I actually aim to hit the line and don't worry much about the basket. www.kenclimo.com (http://www.kenclimo.com) is where I learned to visualize my putts. It has made me 10x's better in the last year and a half. And now I am consisitently hitting 30 footers as well as 75 footers. I have been hitting huge putts every round since I took kennys advide.

one of the best tips I ever got about putting were from Red Whittington back in 1999. He said, "if you don't at least go past the basket, you never even had a chance"
