Hello disc golfers. June is here and the hot weather has arrived. We hope your game
is heating up too. Tournament season is in full swing with an event to play every
weekend.
This past weekend 9 club members made the trip west to Des Moines, IA. The courses
were fantastic and the event ran smoothly. Adrian Gutierrez Jr. and Kenny Glassman
took first place. Adrian Jr. shot a hot round of -7 at Grandview to take the lead
for good. This was his first Advanced win. Kenny recently joined the PDGA and moved
from Recreational to Intermediate. He tore it up shooting under par 3 of the 4
rounds getting his first Intermediate win. Way to represent fellas!
Illinois Open Series #3 at Lippold Park in Crystal Lake, IL takes place on June
24th & 25th. Both IOS #1 & #2 filled with 200+ players. The ace pool is $750.00 with
a good chance of being cashed out at Crystal Lake. Club members, don't forget to
turn in your bag tags. There were some massive bag tag challenges at the first two
events. We are expecting another full field. Please preregister for this event to
ensure you get a spot. Crystal Lake was ranked #2 of the 7 IOS events last year with
157 players. Kenosha had 101 players in 2005 and filled this year. Lombard had 140
players last year and filled this year. We are anticipating Crystal Lake filling.

There will be a work day at Fairfield Park in Round Lake, IL on Saturday June 10th
from 8:00am to 12:00pm. We'll be installing a practice basket, leveling tees,
spreading wood chips, and getting the fairway to hole 14A ready. For those of you
who do not know a 19th hole is being added to the course. The club is purchasing the
basket for this hole. Any help would be much appreciated!

Over the next few months we'll be adding a rule to the e-newsletter. Lost Disc
#803.11 A player whose disc is declared lost shall receive one penalty throw. If
the throw was made from the tee, the player will re-tee for the next shot. If not
made from the tee, the group will determine the approximate lie from which the throw
was made, and the player will throw again from that lie. In all cases the original
throw plus one penalty throw shall be counted in the players score. Tip of the
week-> If there is a hole that has potential for lost discs please spot for each
other. This will speed up play and save you the frustration of losing your favorite
disc. It will also save you many strokes since you have to go back to the previous
lie and throw.
We'll see you on the course soon!
