Heading back from the Wakarusa Fest......departing MCI at 5pm Monday(12th).
That leaves time for one, maybe two rounds.....

Any suggestions on which course(s) to play?? none appear to be very close to the Airport.

Thanks!!

Water Works is closest to the airport, maybe 25 minutes to get to KCI from WW.

Blue Valley is gonna be the one to brag about. Pros play the final round there Sunday AM. 11k' +. Very fair. Just off I-435, opposite side of town (east side) from the airport(northwest side) but easy to access. 25 minutes to the airport. allow 4 hours for a round, and have provisions.

Cliff Drive is just east of downtown, a little harder to find. Maybe 30 minutes to the airport, pretty easy to get to the highway from Cliff.

WYCO isn't in the WO rotation this year, but it's great too. West side of town, maybe 25 from the airport at most. Closest to Wakarusa.

Lawrence has 2 permanent courses. Centennial is more popular (and better in many ways) but Riverfront is new and interesting in its own way--watch out for 'skeeters, tho.

thanks steve.......waterworks for sure!

which between Swope and Rosedale?
Swope photos looked nice but two courses at one park would be kind of nice.

hmmm...yep, having the 2 at Rosie is nice, but Down Under is getting pretty greened up and can be a pain in the patootie. Swope has a lot to offer, Rosedale Top is busy for a reason. Toss up.

I'd punt and say Blue Valley :D

Actually, from Water Works, Cliff Drive is only about 10 minutes. But, then, Rosie is 20.

Toss up.

Blue Valley or Water Works. Blue Valley is a MONSTER of a course.

I heard that the disc golf course on the grounds of the Wakarusa festival was pretty good!

On the downside, I didn't attend the festival, but after reading some posts on the festival website message board about the police checkpoints and heavy police presence inside the festival grounds, including the campground, I will likely never attend.

It actually makes me want to never step foot in the state of Kansas for the rest of my life.

I was there and had a blast! There was more of a police presence than the two previous years...but it seemed to be more of a smokescreen! Huh huh.
If the KCWO and Wakarusa share the 'same weekend' again next year - I'm playing the WO...otherwise I'll do both and have twice the fun as this year.

Hopefully Wakarusa and Japan will not change their weekend again after we set the KCWO weekend next year. I know we strived to keep it away from Wakarusa, but Wakarusa moved a week earlier and screwed us there. Still, we had over 200 players in the NT and A-Tier.....pretty good.

Well, Japan won't happen again until 2008, so next year is safe.

Yep, organizers have said they won't have the festival if the police use the same tactics next year. Wakarusa statement regarding enforcement issues (http://www.wakarusa.com/2006/news.asp?nid=36)
