Where can I get registration info for the Norman Pro/Am over Memorial Day weekend?

I was hoping to make it down from Denver,CO, maybe bring a couple guys with me.
What course(s) will be used?
Can't wait to play Griffen, the pictures from the GPO make it look tough. If I don't make it down Mem. weekend I'll be around for the 4th of July. Any tourneys going on that weekend?
thanks,
-mikew

Mitch Mac's tournament is on July 1-2 out at his place. He usually has lots of add money. Doubles each night of the tournament. Always a great time out there.

From what I've heard it's Lions and Colonial, but I'm not for sure. I haven't seen any flyers on the event. Call Steve for any information.

I left a message yesterday and haven't heard from him. I't's less than a month away, not to sound crappy, really, but I think there should be some way to sign up by now. Once that happens I'm commited. Much later and I'll probably have to blow it off.
But Mitch's sounds great this summer.
I hope to make it.

Thanks Kyle! I didn't see any mention of Colonial on that flyer- all 4 rounds are at Lions then? That's why the staggered tee-times..makes more sense to me now if that is the case.
Looking forward to this tourney! Will Shelley be there? Hope we have a really good ladies turn out!

Kevin, have you actually ever played Colonial? I'm no super-pro like yourself but I consistently shoot better at Lions than I do Colonial. Colonial is a real golf course despite its reputation.

So is Chandler Park on your list of courses that sssssuuuuuCK?

Melissa
May 04 2006, 09:31 PM
Yep, Kev doesn't play Chandler (or Riverside for that matter) unless the ace pot is over $300!

bredemeyer
May 04 2006, 10:14 PM
They could give away gold bars and someone would complain. If everyone in a particular division plays the same course what difference does it make.

I am pretty certain it will be:
A Pool - 4 rounds at Lions
B Pool - 3 rounds at Lions, 1 at Colonial - The Am tee's at Lions are also different than they have been in the past.

This is so the last round for each pool can be played at the same time. This allows plenty of time for a final nine (which is always a fun time).

Looking forward to seeing everyone...

Wammy
May 05 2006, 11:49 AM
Having differnt Tee pads- again, doesn't this effect round ratings?

kyle
May 05 2006, 12:14 PM
Your rating will be based on everyone in your pool(playing from the same tees). As long as the TD report is done correctly, different tees is not a problem. Last year first round if you were in the A pool and shot a 49 your rating was 968, if your were in the B Pool and shot a 49 your rating was 926 due to an easier layout.

May 05 2006, 12:18 PM
Have I played Colonial?

Ah yeah about 30 times....I'm bias to Chandler, I think it is one of the better pitch~n~putt courses around here. The best pitch~n~putt course I played was Blendon Woods in Columbus OH....well except that the whole course was FULL of players, there were 3 groups waiting to play each hole on a Tueday afternoon around 2. Well worth the $2 green fee.

The reason I would say Colonial is on the bottom half of OKIE courses is that some of the holes are way too close to ob as well as blind OB with those silly drainage ditches. (Less skill and more luck prevails at colonial) It's cool that Norman has 4 courses in town and I would be just fine if I lived in those apts next to the course, but I'm not spending a $100 in gas money to come play it. On the other hand I LOVE LIONS!!! ;) It's my favorite course west of STROUD ;)

tokyo
May 17 2006, 04:33 PM
If there is a cap it would be by pools. A and B and it would be doubtful that the A pool would fill but B pool might and that is why they might play a round at the crappy course Sunday.

kyle
May 17 2006, 08:16 PM
Since we run two pools there is not a problem with filling up. The cap would be 90 per pool but that hasn't ever been a problem. The last three years we have handled over 130 players without any problems.

By the way, the players package will include a sweet star T-Rex

Nobody can blame you guys for not hitting the big out-of-state events, atleast you/Jen have your priorities right...if she can beat CP with no practice than that is impressive!

Maybe if Tulsa can land Pro Worlds in the next few years you guys will have the opportunity to play against the best. You should try and make the Oklahoma Open this year because Course BlackHawk will be in effect, its an awesome course!
