April 22nd, Saturday will be a work day at Mary Moore Searight Park. Work will start at 8:00 AM. After the work is done, there will be food and beer for all those that help. There will also be a silent auction with great items to benefit Randon at the Snow Farm (donations will be accepted). South Austin Disc Golf Association t-shirts will be on sale. Ofcourse we will all be playing some disc golf, too (doubles maybe?). Thanks to all that can come out and help !!!

We will be putting in some new benches supplied by the City of Austin and replacing some damaged baskets. Most of the tools, wheelbarrows, etc. will be there in the shed. Extra shovels could be helpful. Thanks, Lou.

I was just informed that the new benches from the city will not be available for the workday on Saturday, April 22nd. Board Members walked the course at Mary Moore Searight Park and have compiled a large list of items that need attention. Please show up with shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows to help upgrade and restore the original beauty to the course. There will be FREE BEER and FOOD for all those that participate. Silent auction will benefit Randon at the Snow Farm.
Please join us in our effort in returning Mary Moore Searight Park to it's status of "The Jewel Of South Austin" !!!

It is brand new, and is run by Damon & Stacey Neth, owners of DiscNation.com. They are great folks, and even though fairly new to town, they are very committed to supporting the local disc golf scene. Look for a lot more out of them at our local courses and tournaments, and support them if you can.

The Disc Nation Superstore is located at 1218 Slaughter Lane in Austin. We are about 1/4 mile West of Mary Searight. Everything you see on the DiscNation web site (http://www.discnation.com) (except for a couple of baskets) is in stock at our store. We have about 10,000 discs, plus tons of bags and accessories in stock. We moved in about a week ago, and are still setting some things up, but have customers coming by every day. Our current hours are Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00, but we will be adjusting these as we move forward.
We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, you can call us at 877-4MY-DISC.

Thanks to everyone that came out for "It's Your Park Day" and thanks to all the sponsers !!! With all of your help, Mary Moore Searight Park is a much better park and Randon will receive some needed funds to help in recovering from the fire. If you have not been to Searight recently, please come out and see all the maintenance and improvements that have been done. We had a great round of doubles after the brisket, burgers, dogs, and beer. Thank you to Disk Nation (https://www.discnation.com/catalog/) for the new 165 Hot Pink/Bubble Gum Star Aviar that helped Blu and I finish 2nd. Looking forward to seeing you all at Worlds Biggest (http://www.circularproductions.com/content/view/49/61/) in two weeks. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks for coming by the shop Bert! We're sorry we could not make it to the work day yesterday (we were busy getting ready for World's Biggest), but this morning I installed a mailbox for scorecards at Mary Moore Searight and filled it with a couple hundred scorecards. We'll be dropping by a few times a week to make sure it is stocked. We will also be stocking cards at Circle C, Zilker, and the new course in Kyle shortly. If anyone needs pencils, then they can drop by the shop for some free pencils.
We're committed to keeping scorecards in stock for these courses provided that things go well and our scorecard box remains intact. Please resist the urge to grab a handful, and we'll do our best to keep it stocked ;)
We're also starting a lost disc program at the shop. Bring in any disc you find and receive a discount off a new disc. We'll contact the rightful owner and get the disc back to them at no cost (unless they want us to ship it to them).

I saw the mailbox today and want to say THANK YOU, DAMON !!! I am asking everyone to please keep an eye out for the mailbox and hopefully prevent any abuse or vandalism. Also, thanks again for the lost and found discount. This will hopefully be a great incentive for more people to turn in what they find. I do have a busy schedule this week but plan to pay you and Stacey another visit this Friday.

It has come to the attention of a number of players that the payout system for the weekly mini at the Kyle course is horribly flawed. Explanations for what is being taken out of the pot, is to say at the very least SKETCHY! As far as most players have been told 60% of the pot is paid out to the first place winner. Questions have risen regarding where the other 40% is going. Discnation from what we have been told is supposed to receive half (20%) of what is left over. This in return leaves 20% still unaccounted. From discussions with the Discnation owner, he has informed us that the club has offered him the 20% each week but he has kindly refused any payment for the plastic he provides as prizes. This gets us back to square one and what is going on with the 40% left over. So far two explanations have been given for where these funds are supposed to end up:
1. The money is going to be used to fix and repair Searight and Circle C
2. The money is going to be used to fix up the Kyle course
In regards to both these explanations, neither has been looked upon as ACCEPTABLE!
The City of Kyle was contacted and they have not recieved any money from the club. Furthermore the city explained that they are fully funded and are responsible for keeping the course functioning. The city has also brought another point to our attention, that the South Austin Disc Assoc. cannot take money from the local minis to repair and fix courses in Austin. Any money made in this regard has to be put back into the Kyle course.
Suggestions for S.A.D.A.:
1. The money accumulated so far over the past 8-9 weeks be put up and played for at a one day tournament in Kyle.
2. Since the Kyle course is funded and kept up by the city, try getting Austin to do the same with Searight and Circle C.
3. Host minis at the two southside courses and take funds from their payouts.
4. Explain yourself better and correct this issue!!!
Resolving this problem is important for your club's standing and the sport as whole.

We've made some changes at the Kyle Mini that we hope will encourage everyone to come out and play. First, we are now paying out 80% of what is paid in (this past week we had 9 players and 3 were paid out in cash). In addition we have combined the ace pots into 1. Disc Nation is still donating a gift certificate each week for the CTP prize and a piece of equipment (usually STAR or ESP plastic) for another contest at the mini.
The remaining 20% is still going to the South Austin Disc Association (SADA). SADA has been the beneficiary since the very first mini and this has been advertised as their mini with Disc Nation's support, all of which is still true. To set the record straight, Disc Nation has not taken 1 cent from any money that has been paid in, and has donated all prizes. This will continue for the remainder of this season. The folks in Kyle have always been aware of this and support this activity. Kerry (the head honcho at parks and rec for Kyle) told me this week that he was happy to know that a non-profit organization supporting disc golf in the central Texas was benefiting from the mini, and is fully supportive of the mini. I don't know where this other information came from, but Kerry led the effort to install the course and is responsible for any events that occur on the course.
This is a great mini on a great course with a fun group of players. We encourage anyone who can to join us Wednesday's through the end of September a 6:00 PM (5:45 to sign up). We are also planning on having 1 week with no paid entry with a pay-out to help everyone feel better about the past entry fees.
The ace pot is currently $375, and we will be playing the short tees on 8/23, so this would be a good time to check out the mini. We've had at least 2 players ace without paying in, so this week is your chance!
Thanks for the feedback. As the sponsor, we want to ensure that everyone is having a good time and that all the players feel good about the event.

I can't wait to play that course!!!!!!!!!!
But right now I am kinda busy......
The Temple Disc Golf Association will be working on the Lions Park course the first two weekends in December.
Saturday December 2nd. 8:00am- We will be building forms for the new tee boxes. If anyone has experience at this please try to make it out. We have 16 forms to build. We will also be doing some minor trimming. Please bring any tools for these tasks if you have some. If we do not finish the forms on Saturday we will finish them on Sunday the 3rd.
Saturday December 9th 8:00am.- We will be pouring the tee boxes and drilling the holes for the tee post signs and the basket sleeves. We will also be pouring cement for the posts and basket sleeves. We have at our disposal a hand auger and a tractor with auger. We will have 3 to 4 crews working at the same time. We could use some extra wheelbarrows if anyone has some. It's going to be a task to get all of this done in one day...If we do baskets will be put into the ground on Sunday the 10th. If not we will attempt to finish the course on Saturday and Sunday December 16th and 17th.
If the weather is bad on any of these planned days the work will be rescheduled.
We are not sure if we will be holding the Minis in December. We will
e-mail and post dates if we do.
We need alot of help especially on the 9th and 10th, please come out if you can.
Thank You,

The staff for Texas Womens Championship is challenging every club in Texas to be a part of the Girly station program for TWC 2008 April 26 & 27. Last year Live Oak set the bar for Girly stations and spurred a friendly competition between the clubs. This years winner will be judged by the players and will receive a lil something special for the best girly station during the event to be used for the winning clubs discretion.
So come join us in showing the ladies what Texas hospitality is all about. Please contact Ed or me of your commitment to a girly station.
We are also need artist for the inner color fund raiser disc; follow the Innova Inner-color format. If you want to see your art on a disc and submit to Ed or me
