'Loco at the Mills'
48 Hole Tournament (Union Meeting #1)
When: April 9th, 2006
Registration: 8:30 - 9:30
Divisions: Amateur Only - AM1, AM2, AM3, AM Masters and AM Women
Where: Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, MI
Payout: 101%, Innova Custom Stamped discs with our logo

Why:
A group of dedicated SE Michigan Disc Golfers recently decided to start a club and we are calling ourselves the Local 101 Disc Golf Players Union. We want our tournaments to be really laid back and lots of fun. This first one will be pretty straightforward, but in the future we are going to do a lot of variations of the normal tournament format. Most of our tournaments will probably not be sanctioned by the PDGA.

Our 1st ever tournament will be held at Hudson Mills Metropark on April 9th. For more information please check out our website: www.local101dg.com (http://www.local101dg.com)

March 18th for chains huh? I'll be there. Do I still get to keep Eddie as my partner. 3 and out right? :D

janttila
Feb 16 2007, 12:11 PM
Ooooh, let me discuss that with my colleagues. You and Eddie are a tough team. We are actually thinking of starting this event a little earlier to have some preliminary drinking and casual play, pick your own partner. Players would keep their individual records and at noon, random draw. Combine partners records for seating positions. Any thoughts? And for those who may view this and wonder "what is chains?" Chains is a beer drinking, shoot talking, whoop arse putting competition played like horse shoes. We've had a good drawing of players over the last couple events ranging from 16-25 players. We have a travelling trophy and the focus is on "having a good time" and celebrating what is known as the "101!!!"

Only in the basement. Always random draw at the real CHAINS. I understand that Arbor Brew Co offers barrells for a good price, maybe we should check into that. And where is this going to be held? The Pharmhouse or a Metropark?

Chains Rule #65-24-66.9111:

"The team who won the previous chains tournament remains intact to try and defend their title."

Bee, you and Eddie need to bring the trophy (with new artwork) to Chains on March 18.

I think the first Chains event will be held at the Metropark. Daemon, you work right next to ABC, you should check into a barrel from there.

graybush? If it's Sacred Cow on the menu, Whoooo!!!, look out. Maybe there should be a trophy for the most beer drank. Kinda like an MVP, instead the MBD. I thought about aiming between them, I also am debating 2 putters at the same time. Rules are still in the making :D

My name is Mud, but call me Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie
That's long for Mud so I've been told
Told that by this sonsabitch that lies before me bloated blue and cold
I've got my pride, I drink my wine
I'd drink the finest except I haven't earned a dime in several months

We had our words, a common spat
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat

hoooooooo101

Thanks Scotty. I'm glad the results are up early. That course is tough, and definately not like anything you would find in MI. Sweet par 4's all over. I mean Schweb shot a +13 on 18 holes. Sweet course. Now let me sum up the trip with some numbers:

4 days of golf. 1100 miles. 260 holes played. 101 holes on Friday. 2 tiki aces. And a top 10 finish.

It was amazing, we met so many cool people. The Grange is DG paradise. 2 championship courses, played them blind and shot +4 on Sunnyside, +3 on Darkside. Also a par 2 tiki course, lit up at night, and great for warming up before a real round. Lots of cool people, we felt very welcome down there, and there was always someone to shoot a round with, usually too many people. They have a sweet glow doubles format on Friday night, it is epic. I met DG legends such as "The northern Steve Johnson", John Biscoe, and MI transplant Kristin Weidle, who shot a 1000+ rated round on Sunday. I even got MB legend Brian Schweberger to say something to me. He said "45". I was thrilled. Awesome trip, I am going to the VA open next year held at the Grange. The 11 hour drive is nothing compared to what you will expererience at THE GRANGE.

janttila
Mar 14 2007, 04:18 PM
No jump putting :p Probably start just inside 10m and maybe for the finals we'll extend them out under the pavillion. It will be weather dependent as well as attendance dependent. Sunday's forecast http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/fitness/wxdetail/3521:19?dayNum=4 Tbut you know Greg Rife's number or email?

abee1010

No jump putting

Have the rules changed from last year?!?

The rule last year stated that you could not follow through past your mark, but if you started far enough behind the mark you were allowed to jump so long as you never cross the line.

janttila
Mar 16 2007, 01:46 PM
And maintain balance. You don't need to jump putt to hit 32' Bee. You don't use those Shananigans in a tournament round why do think they'll work for you during CHAINS? Mr. CHAINS Champion ;)

DSproAVIAR
Mar 16 2007, 02:42 PM
No no no. Since there is no back line for chains, only a line that you cannot cross IN FRONT, you can walk back to the outside of the circle and play from there, even tho you would be putting from like 8' longer than your opponent. It is legal, just not smart. Unless you are better at 35 footers than 25 footers, like Bee.

abee1010
Mar 16 2007, 03:13 PM
Do you need some more weak sauce on your rule changes...

DSproAVIAR

Either way Joe is putting together an official rule book so that will be the final word.

abee1010

Yes agreed. He should go hide in a bathtub with Rmac. Joe has been gaining demerits on a regular basis now. First talking shii about John and FSDG, then not even showing to our B-tier. Before you know it he will have moved to Ohio and joined TADGA, conspiring with Osh.

May 17 2007, 05:22 PM
Sorry I couldn't make it out Taylor. I'm glad you decided to make the trip anyways. The last month has been filled with busyness from college graduations to funeral burials. And I should mention that this is one of my busiest times of the year at work. I hate when life and responsiblilty interferes with golf. It just isn't right sometimes but one has to do the right thing. I'm going to be heading out to Chicago July 6th to the 9th. Would you be interested in checking out the White Sox game Friday the 6th? And watch it Bee, I do what I can when I can. I'll be heading down to RO soon enough for some brewery fun. Peace guys :D

Oh yesss....

Official CHAINS announcement--
CHAINS will be held at the Farmhouse on Park Road near Staebler. This location is much closer to Ann Arbor than our last venue.
Many many Ritzburgers will be served along with chicken drummies, dogs, grilled asparagus, cucumbers, and other vegetables. Maybe some tater salad as well.
Refreshments will be provided. Definitely a keg of bud or some such light beer, possibly some dank from Arbor Brewing as well.
$20 entry. $10 of that goes to food/beer, $10 goes to payout. CHAINS is a putting tournament played like horseshoes with discs, lots of fun. It's not too competitive, more like a BBQ than a tourney. Also there is a 9-hole course in the woods in back for some post-chains madness.

Saturday June 2nd.
Flip off at 11am, play well into the afternoon.
Take Park road west, past Staebler, first house on the right.

Daemon - You posted in another thread about asking you how to form a local club in the mold of the 101. Now that most of the guys I play with have graduated from high school this past week, we're ready to try to do something along those lines down here in Toledo.

We've been talking about it since summer 2005 (I even had acesnchains.net bought up for a while, and Justin Gill had a sweet logo made up) but with half the guys interested busy with High School sports, it never panned out.

So yeah, Woj wants to speak with you about this stuff this weekend!

Oh, and please don't assume we all conspire with Osh just because we live near him. I just get his results online for him. :)

New Web Site, check it out and register yo-self: www.local101dg.com (http://www.local101dg.com)

Tournament on November 10th: http://www.local101dg.com/tournaments.php?tournID=79

Entry fee for AM1 and Pro is the same ($30). This is unsanctioned, so we should see lots of people moving up to play for that $250 added cash.
