Try this for starters: www.disclife.com/propdoor.shtml (http://www.disclife.com/propdoor.shtml)

And these PDGA info links: www.pdga.com/cd_start.php (http://www.pdga.com/cd_start.php)

In compiling documents to get a proposal going, I have been looking for this one article, I remember having read it a few years ago.

It had lots of pictures and was very well written. I cant seem to find it. So far I have one article written by Siniscalchi on the benefits of Disc golf as well as all the development proposal documents available online that I could get my hands on.

Can anyone tell me where this one article could be at? The reason I am asking this is because I am trying to build a proposal with plenty of background articles and the more reputable the articles the better (i.e. from professional or academic journals)

Thanks

I very strongly suggest that you take an experienced course designer with you to scope out possible locations. There are already too many courses located in places that should not have a course at all. People with good intentions but little experience have installed courses in inappropriate places resulting in bad courses. A bad course can do much damage to the image of disc golf.

Related to this, it is also important to give a good presentation to the landowners (City/County Parks Dept., etc.). This is more important than a lot of folks realize. For the presentation, pick someone from your local disc golf club or group who is experienced at this, or at least comfortable in front of people in a formal business-type setting.

I appreciate your suggestions. Fortunately we do have an experienced Pro that is spearheading the entire effort (designed several courses, attended many Pro worlds, played over 100 different courses). I am only doing some of the legwork in compiling and drafting up documents. So does anyone have any idea what article it is that I am talking about?

Contact the DGA www.discgolfassoc.com. (http://www.discgolfassoc.com.) They have some articles and testimonials from Park Depts that may include the one you are looking for.

Thanks Chuck.

The DGA website did have a few very useful tools I will definately include in the final development proposal. However I am still lacking the article I am looking for. I suppose if its not out there then its not out there and I dont absolutely need it, but it would be nice if someone comes accross it to let me know.

I hate to repeat myself but I remember this article had lots of pictures, it was definately published in some sort of magazine, possibly mid 1990s.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Yeah, I thought so. My dad is a P&R Director, and I remember him pointing out that article to me. Good luck with your proposal - I'm headed to a meeting with our City Council on Monday!!
