Matt,
Initially, we had decided not to sanction the event so that 100% of the proceeds could benefit the NDGC endowment fund, however I have now petitioned the PDGA and requested that it be sanctioned as a "C"-tier with some minor exceptions to the sanctioning agreement. Having the event sanctioned will allow players to accumulate points, but more importantly for us an organizers, will enable use to get some rated rounds on the course to see how the design stands up against competition. The PDGA staff is currently in Phoenix at the spring summit but I hope to get an answer from them some time today on the matter.
Addie,
We look forward to seeing you again! The Augusta Disc Golf Association is discussing the possibility of hosting a club cookout, campout, bonfire, and disc games following the event that night at the Hippodrome followed by doubles the next day. Of course, all competitors will be welcome and encouraged to join us.
Regards,
Brian Graham

Brian,
That sounds great! Will there be a cap? A LOT of people at Earlewood were talking about coming. What a great way to raise money for the NDGC. As always, Brian, y'all have it together!! :)
BTW, I got to stop in Augusta on the way to Earlewood and I checked out Wildwood. WOW!! Those crews were working hard. Impressive!! How exciting!!!

Lake Olmstead Park is only 2 blocks from Augusta National! The Lake is formed by Raes Creek, which is the creek that runs through Amen Corner. The mayor traditionally hosts a pre-tournament reception each year for many of the Masters competitors at Lake Olmstead in the same building that will serve as our tournament headquarters for the 2006 Pro Worlds. Just think....your discs will be landing in the same water that Arnold Palmer's ball lands in!, or possibly the same water that John Daly just took a leak in. :D
Fortunately for us, the Hippodrome is in North Augusta, SC, which is on the opposite side of town so we will not have to contend with the traffic.

Better get moving on reserving a room. I called today (West Bank Inn) and got one of the last rooms for that weekend. It's the weekend before The Masters so things are booking up. The room was pretty cheap... $49.99 plus tax. Fridge, microwave. I only checked on Washington Road though, which is the same road as Augusta National. Maybe some locals can help give other areas to look as far as closeness to the course.
Looking forward to this event! Come support the NDGC!!!!

Hole 3 looks pretty interesting. Perhaps #11 could be the Atomic Bomb with #12 as its Cooling Tower?

A very special thanks to the PDGA and the Southern Nationals for sanctioning the NDGC Fundraiser tournament at the new Hippodome course in North Augusta, SC on Saturday and donating the player fees to the endowment fund. Due to participation and the generosity of the attending players and sponsors, $1,000 was raised for the National Disc Golf Center endowment fund and 100% of the field was paid out with some really nice donated merchandise.
The Pete May designed course played very tough as expected and it will continue to be tweaked and improved upon based upon what we learned on Saturday. Our goal is to have the course, as it will be played in the World's, completed by the end of May so that it can be used in the Augusta Classic on June 3-4.
Regards,
Brian Graham
