Hot Rags, a retailer in Lombard and 5 other Chicago area locations, has signed on as the primary sponsor for the Lombard leg of the 2006 IOS! They will also start selling discs in all of their Chicago locations and I think they will be a great addition to the local retail disc golf vendors.
Besides cash sponsorship, Hot Rags will be helping us to promote the event. It is going to great to have a local retailer to help promote the event in Lombard.

Just a few notes and reminders:
Registration cards are color coded. I understand we are using blue and four shades of tan. We'll have someone with colorvision hanging out to help the 1/6th of men who are handicapped this way. [Help!]
The ace pool and brass sidebet sign ups will be at the merch table. The brass sidebet payout chart is posted on the brass sidebet thread at www.discontinuum.org/forums. (http://www.discontinuum.org/forums.) It will be posted at the tournament too.
We have a lot of trophy-only players so payouts may be a little different. If the posted payout says it goes to 4th and you come in 5th, or 14th and you come in 17th, that does not mean you are out of the payout. But if you split and don't make arrangements with the TD for someone else to pick up your payout, you just donated to the process, and we thank you.
One week. 72 pre-reg already. I'm pumped.

Attendance is up all over the mid-west. This could easily fill both days. Don't be left out.

In five days we've gone from 72 to 142 pre-registered. I would like to thank you all for pre-registering. It should make everything go a lot faster and smoother on Saturday. It will make the long drive more enjoyable knowing that I'm driving to a full house tournament.
Alison and Barrett: Just thought I'd give you a heads up that most of the women playing Pro Women are trophy-only players. I don't know if you'll be seeing this. I'll try to remember to tell you at the event also. If cash sales are good, I might upgrade Kelsey to full-fee so Jon can pay two places.

We did not argue about that at our mid-winter meeting so, yes, unless Brett says otherwise. Brett does points.
So do you ever go to a tournament wondering, "If I finish in the prizes, are they going to have any good stuff?"
I just finished loading the merch wagon. I'm bringing approximately 1,000 discs, including a lot of the new Star plastic. I have a cube full of shirts, towels, hats, visors and a couple of bags. I've got Golo! I have one of those awesome discatcher mini baskets for the Advanced Merchlord who has everything else.

We had 203 total players this weekend, including Adv, Int, and Rec fields of over 40 players each. Jon has scores and unofficial ratings up now.
Our attendance seems to have grown to the point where you pretty much have to pre-register if you want to get in. Maybe we're doing something right? You can pre-register on-line at store.discontinuum.org. You can mail pre-registration by check to the address indicated at www.brasscash.com. (http://www.brasscash.com.) You can pre-register at any of the Discontinuum leagues.
Pre-registration is first-come first-in. Hope to see 105 each day in Lombard for two rounds of 21, each day!

No one had an ace at IOS #1 so $340 is rolling over to Hot Rags' IOS #2. I'm projecting, but not guaranteeing, that Saturday the ace pool will be worth at least $500. Pre-register at store.discontinuum.org, and pre-register early before it fills up! You can also pre-register by mail using the address published at www.brasscash.com (http://www.brasscash.com) .
We have some sponsorship from Hot Rags for this event, www.hotrags.com (http://www.hotrags.com) . We have not yet figured out how the sponsorship is going to work its way back into the event but Hot Rags would like us to spread it around so the value will be divided 50/50 between the days and pro-rated to the divisions. For the pros we might have some cash CTPs. For the ams we might have a jumbo toss, morning round CTPs, flight-life prizes -- stay tuned. We'll let you know.

Pre-reg is starting to trickle in.
At Hot Rags' IOS #2 you'll have a choice of two player packs, 15 Brass OR the Throw Discraft player pack: a tournament stamped ESP Surge and a Pro D disc. We will only have 25 of those each day for the first 25 to ask for it.
Last year Lombard was a busy tournament. If you want to be sure to get in, pre-register by one of the many means possible.

$340 is rolling over to the Ace Pool for Saturday at IOS #2. It will easily be over $500.00 Saturday.
There are currently 23 players registered for Saturday and 27 players registered for Sunday.
Last year Lombard had 140 players over 2 days. IOS #1 @ UW Parkside in April had 203 players. We were filled to the max. Please preregister.

The accuweather forecast is looking pretty good.
If you are pre-registered and you want the Throw Discraft player pack, you can pre-register for that too by sending me an e-mail with "Throw Discraft" in the title, and your name and division in the text. 8 or 9 people have jumped on theirs.
Also, Hot Rags is adding some free tournament t-shirts. They might do one for every player. I'm not certain. This just came up yesterday.

Pre-reg has been running kind of slow, but that happens when everyone is busy building an ark. Has it quit raining yet? The forecast is looking good. I'd say you can let the aardvarks and antelopes run free and plan on playing IOS #2 this weekend.
We have 65 pre-registered as of right now.
After you pre-register you can reserve a Throw Discraft Player Pack by sending me an e-mail or private message. The Throw Discraft player pack is a tournament stamped ESP Surge and the stock stamped Pro D disc of your choice. We have 25 of these each day. Your default player pack option of 15 brass is also available.

May 16 2006, 01:27 AM
Pre-reg is up to 75, a little over 1/3rd full. The Throw Discraft player pack pre-reg is at 18, also a little over 1/3rd full.
I spent most of the weekend dying discs. [Some of the stuff I do takes a little longer than "squirt, spin, squirt, spinnnnnnnnnn," although I've been experimenting with that too.] Lots of cool dyed Surges sitting on the shelves now. Lots of cool dyed Star too. I'm going to give them a good long sit for maximum color depth.

Lombard Re-cap:
200+ players: Attendance was huge. After trying twice to accomodate everyone [Saturday at Kenosha and Saturday at Lombard] we've come to the conclusion that 100 players per day is our limit. We have a great crew of tournament assistants, but 100 players is as many as we can handle, especially on the lunch hour when the 1/2 of our crew who are playing that day need to get fed and watered while the other half take care of the tournament. We're sorry for those who did not get in. The only answer is to pre-register or show up EARLY.
Flight Life was sponsored by Hot Rags. They wanted a lot of discs with their business information on them to get distributed widely to the players. The Throw Discraft player pack and Flight Life were a way of accomplishing that. Please check out their stores. Support the retailers who support the sport.
The Throw Discraft player pack was sponsored by Discraft. Discraft gives us great deals and we can pass them along to players who can find a place for some Discraft discs in their bag. If you throw an Aviar or a Wizard, you can probably find a place for a Challenger. If you throw a Roc or an Element, check out the Wasp and the Buzzz. For the long game, the Flash, Wildcat, Crush, Avenger, Surge, Talon and Predator offer a wide spectrum of stability and glide combinations. Every time I order Discraft we can do a Throw Discraft player pack. The more Discraft you choose for prizes, the more often we can do that.
Pre-register now for IOS #3. The "C" on the am side means nothing. We're running the same show we run everywhere we go: Pick-your-own 15 Brass player packs, generous payouts and CTPs, same-day PDGA on-line scoring for the Advanced and Pros, and hopefully the Intermediate and Rec scores get up by the next day. The "C" on the am side means if you all show up for it and pack the course, we save $150 on what we send to the PDGA. They wanted the C. They got it. We'll give the savings back to the players and volunteers.

Pre-register! There is no reason why this tournament won't fill also. We have to cap at fivesomes, and we have to cap at 100 or 105, depending on how many extra holes we can set up. So pre-register and take a shot at that $750 ace. Intermediates and Recs can play Trophy-Only Advanced for $14 or Trophy-only pro for $10 and Crystal Lake has a lot of ace runs.
Pre-register today. Don't miss out.
