While watching a football game a few months back, Katie and I were discussing life and death. I told her, "Just so you know, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug."

She promptly got up, unplugged the TV and threw out all my beer.

if anyone is curious or can elaborate on these types of injuries here is my MRI report:

1.Paralybal cyst in the spinal glenoid notch, associated with tear of the posterior labrum.
2.Tiny possible bursal surface tear of the distal supraspinatus tendon, just proximal to its insertion.
3.Some abnormal signal is noted within the infraspinatus tendon, not contacting either the bursal or articular surface, most common with tendon degeneration rather than a focal tear..

I will be seeing an orthopedist wed....

Aug 15 2006, 04:48 PM
Jerry,

I do not know what Worlds you went to but the one we ran in Augusta last week was the second richest in PDGA history.

- Augusta paid out an $83,000 total purse (2nd all time to Ann Arbor combined Pro/Am Worlds)

- Added cash exceeded $25,000

- Open division had the 3rd smallest field in the 25 year history of the event (125 players) but the Open winner won $5,500 (2nd most in history) and the overall division received the 2nd largest payout in history.

- Women's winner won $1,650 (3rd most in history - only $115 less than record of $1,765 at Ann Arbor combined Pro/Am Worlds)

- We paid out the highest percentage of players in each division in history as per the PDGA's new flatter payout schedule.

Do the math.....We paid out more money to more people than 23 of the previous 24 Worlds with one of the smallest fields. If you break it down to the number of competitors, than we were hands down, the richest in history.

Innova gave plenty to the disc golfers including most of the $25,000 added cash, the embroidered golf shirt and discs you got in your players package and the Dri-fit shirts given to all at the Fly-Mart. Did I mention the $15,000 donation to EDGE and the $10,000 donation to the International Disc Golf Center?

The purpose of this post is not to toot my own horn but to present the facts to you. If you have a particular problem, please feel free to call me anytime.

Brian Graham

Jerry,

In your division (Masters) alone, we added over $4,500 and paid out 140% of entry fees to 45% of the division. Your 22nd place finish in a division of 60 people would not have even gotten you paid at most of the previous Worlds as the payout schedule at that time only paid the top 1/3.

Please explain how the payout sucked.

Brian Graham

briangraham
Aug 16 2006, 10:36 AM
Jerry,

Actually, you did win your entry fee back minus the $10 ace pool money that was deducted from every entry.

The PDGA does not mandate that last place money get their entry fee back anymore now that the scale is flatter and we pay out many more spots than used to be required. It is only due to the deeper payout in recent years that you won any money at all as Pro worlds used to pay only the top 1/3. Sorry if you somehow feel cheated but we exceeded all requirements. We just ran the second richest Pro worlds in history and all I hear is complaining. Now I know why nobody wants to run pro worlds. :(

Brian Graham

pretty amazing what a difference a few hours make on a hole. We mowed it down pretty low, cut a couple paths towards the creek to make it easier for people to help look for strays, and trimmed up some of that scraggle from the trees on the hill.
Now who's gonna tackle the trail going to 16 basket?
Anybody have a used mower they want to donate to the club? I can't use mine again out there.

Then new path on the right going up the **** has a huge bees nest or bees lining in the ground. so make sure you dont throw past up the hill nor use that trail to walk up. OUCH ask Jab or Matt Harris and I believe the BEE area is marked with a disc as JAB was SKEERED to get his disc back...,

Skeered, yeah, five hornet bites will do that to a fellow. Thanks V, for finding that branch to drag my bag out of the swarm.

I liked that Orion LF, just not enough to find out exactly, how close that nest was, to the disc. ( Just back from RR, Chris shamed me into recovering my disc... let no plastic Bee left Beehind. Did not see the Rhyno )

The nest, (in the ground/rocks) is to the left of the trail, going up directly behind the basket. There is also a Pro Line Rhyno some where along the path I took off running down. :o Of the two, I rather get the putter back, If someone happens across it.

Talked with Matt this morning, looks like we both are not allergic to honet stings. Good thing to know, just hope I don't have to test it again anytime soon.

Hey Vinnie,
You guys busy the first two weekends in December?????????

The Temple Disc Golf Association will be working on the Lions Park course the first two weekends in December.

Saturday December 2nd. 8:00am- We will be building forms for the new tee boxes. If anyone has experience at this please try to make it out. We have 16 forms to build. We will also be doing some minor trimming. Please bring any tools for these tasks if you have some. If we do not finish the forms on Saturday we will finish them on Sunday the 3rd.

Saturday December 9th 8:00am.- We will be pouring the tee boxes and drilling the holes for the tee post signs and the basket sleeves. We will also be pouring cement for the posts and basket sleeves. We have at our disposal a hand auger and a tractor with auger. We will have 3 to 4 crews working at the same time. We could use some extra wheelbarrows if anyone has some. It's going to be a task to get all of this done in one day...If we do baskets will be put into the ground on Sunday the 10th. If not we will attempt to finish the course on Saturday and Sunday December 16th and 17th.

If the weather is bad on any of these planned days the work will be rescheduled.

We are not sure if we will be holding the Minis in December. We will
e-mail and post dates if we do.

We need alot of help especially on the 9th and 10th, please come out if you can.

Thank You,

Live Oak Ice Bowl Benefiting the Educational Disc Golf Experience

Saturday, January 27th in Live Oak, Texas

Pool House is at 7901 Shin Oak Dr in Live Oak, 78233 (Mapquest)

SIGN-UP PRIOR TO 8:30 (please, please, please)

Player Meeting @ 9:00

(2) Rounds of 18 for everybody
1st round for ranking
2nd round will be Nassau on each card (see below)

Pro $35
All Amateurs and Ladies $20 and will receive an Innova Disc

*$5 of every entry and raffle proceeds will go to the Educational Disc Golf Experience to help bring disc golf into the schools of Texas.

*We will also be donating food to the local food bank again this year so please bring dry goods and canned food. (Raffle tickets for food donations)

We have lots of CTP's and other fun planned. Innova Champion has sponsored a basket for the raffle again this year. Please bring anything else you would like to donate for the cause. Any unwanted Christmas gifts are also welcome as well. Come on Sonic Blade!

Looks like Texas Roadhouse and Sweet Leaf Tea are back on board for a terrific hot lunch for just a $5 donation that also goes to EDGE.

Nassau format worked great last year so we will do the same this year. Everyone plays a regular first round. Second round will see each card have a value placed on it. The better your first round is; the more value available to your second round card. Then, the Nassau second round will award the best score on your card for every six holes played and the total score for four chances to win prizes or money. Think of the second round as three mini rounds of six holes and an overall score award.

Come on out and have a great time for a great cause!

I am not familiar with Texas law, but in California if your check engine light is on it is an automatic fail. See if there is a testing place that says you will pass or the next test is free. This is what I did. I went, it failed, the print out said exactly what was wrong. Had it fixed and went back for the free re-test and passed.
