Club Renewals are due in April. Everyone in the club will be given a grace period throught the end of this month & then anyone not current will only be paid that nights (or days for Sundays) ace pot. I will have forms this Wednesday. New members $25 (including shirts while they last) $10 for renewals. If you do not fill out a form & give it to a cabinet member with the money you have not renewed. If you need a new (or have never gotten) your Double R Bag member bag tag I will reprint them & have them the first Wednesday in May.

Can I renew my membership at Cat Hollow on thursday?

esalazar
Apr 04 2006, 04:09 PM
I think multiple membership forms should be distributed to some of our members.. I could probably recruit many new members...

Lala
Apr 04 2006, 04:29 PM
No you can't renew @ Cat Hollow unless there is a cabinet member with a renewal form to take your money. Yes I will give forms to club members to distibute, but if they are not recieved by a cabinet member they have not renewed (no questions) - there has already been enough trouble getting this staight in the first place. I encourage you to have interested new members come to a mini or have them return the form to a cabinet member. As for last years shirt issue, I will do my best to figure that out, but it may be difficult, so please continue to be understanding. :)

esalazar
Apr 04 2006, 04:37 PM
It might be tough for those that live outside our area to support our club , by way of purchasing memberships, by limiting the accepting of renewals and new memberships to cabinet members. I was thinking we could generate much more club funds if we sold memberships to our many disc golf friends throughout the state.. I would volunteer as a cabinet member for this purpose alone, the distribution of memberships.. :DJUST A THOUGHT!!!

This is where a website would be beneficial.

1.) New club memberships and renewals

2.) Disc sales to raise money for tournaments

3.) Club member only page for voting on issues

4.) Track RR Dragon statistics at tourneys

5.) Track league scores,find out times,formats,etc...

6.) Photos

7.) A message board to communicate work dayz, who is playing where,etc...

8.) Info for people out of town

9.) Propose Ideas

10.) list of cabinet members to contact about issues (although if you bother Edman and LALA ya better bring them some newcastle for their troubles)

I think there is enough IT guyz in the club it shouldn't be a problem to get one up and running. John EEEEEE could be a guy to help out if it doesn't interfere with any IBM obligations.

ROUND ROCK needs to get with the new millenium and get a website. I'm pretty sure it would not only help, but be seriously beneficial to our club.

The way this club is heading my might pass on this year's renewal, no concrete tee boxes, they should of been there last year, I'm not playing Outlaws this year. I guess "I" am not working hard enough on the tee boxes.
"I'll" try harder!
better rivery course
bring a double's championship tourney back to the Rock
adding 3 holes to the Rock
running TWC to highlight the round rock disc golf
working on yet another course for Round Rock
And all this in one year!
I' guess that wasn't enough.
I could always quit my job and being a dad. Or I could get some of this club member who thinks running a league or taking sign up is alot of work to help

esalazar
Apr 06 2006, 08:13 PM
the point is you are trying to do too much v.. and that is affecting each of your projects..If all these tasks were club tasks much more could be done and done better!!When there is a city or park or county meeting concerning disc golf we should be there as a club not 1 person as an individual..I am not critcising the things you do or do not do , I just think that the Round Rock club is a huge resource that is not being fully tapped! IMO if more people were involved in the initial stages of projects it would spark more interest and desire..

vinnie
Apr 07 2006, 08:37 AM
did I hear a.......excellent though?
And I TOTALLY agree.
So with that said......how do we get folks involved?
1. wait for someone to step up?(waiting....waiting....waiting......)
2.ask for help?.......(kinda like when I asked for the club to do TSD....OR ....like when I asked for input for the newsletter?) neither happened.
3.tell someone to do it?.......(then be labled "its vinnie's way" OR "JOSH that vinnie guy is a bass fishing hole")

what gets me most: (my grandmother said it very well)
"no matter how hard you try....most folks only see what is not done"
And so all know a monthly "SHNL" starting May 1 will be published....and yes I am doing it again and yes I could use some help.....insert sound of crickets
So all the why, what, where, when, whos will be updated

If you're not on the list & ace you only get paid the ace money from that day. No exceptions. You need to fill out a form even if your info hasn't changed - the member info has been pretty spread out until know. If you need to renew don't wait until 2 minutes before draw or start - come earlier. Thanx

Dont forget you have to be a current club member to get the FULL ace pot otherwise you get the ace $$ from that day only. this includes sunday as well as weds.

starting in 2009 the renewals timeframe will be from 1/1/2009 through 1/20/2009.

FYI read below. and please let us know

Hello Double R Club members. Just a reminder that we are accepting nominations for the upcoming cabinet election until Tuesday the 28th. On the 29th, you will receive your ballot & a copy of the proposed by laws as written to this point. All 5 cabinet positions are open for elections, here are the current positions.

Keith May - President
Edman Coffey - Vice President
Chris Ware - Secretary
Laura Coffey - Treasurer
J.D. Baker - Sergeant at Arms

Please submit nominations for names you'd like to see in any of these positions on the ballot.

Also, an update regarding the club party. Things are still on as scheduled, Sat, Nov 1st @ 9 open membership meeting with 1st round to tee between 9:30 & 10. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the locations has changed. This year, Jon D has been gracious enough to open his home & course to the Double R. The location is not far from Pauls & the amenities are great (9+ hole course, pool, hot tub, poker, food & beer) - contact us for detailed direction if needed. With Cat Hollow ending this week, we will hold a course clean up @ Jons next Thursday - contact JD Baker regarding details. I'd also like to get a rough head count for the party so I can have plenty of food & beer - please RSVP to [email protected]

See you in the fairway,

Who got second place votes?

Nov 02 2008, 10:40 AM
I would hope you would not decline Larry.....Its an honor to serve this club. Let me tell all of the dbl R members that it has been my pleasure to serve in some way and in many ways this fine club since its first days way back in 1995/96. I have had the honor to watch a 7-guy club turn into a 100 plus membership club.....that makes me feel really good...as your out going president I know that the club is on the right track with the right people in the right places to achieve great things in the future....So after 22-years of doing sometimes everything that the cabinet does now (in the early years) to just being your president...it has allways been pleasure to serve you......In my retirement years to come...I will still be around maybe not as much as before....but when I think of disc golf and all the people I have meet over the years....this club the great "DBL R DISC CLUB" will allways have a special place in my heart.....I know that the new cabinet will keep on keeping on and I also know that I will be behind them as I hope all of you guys will be too.....Its a tough job that requires tough people sometimes.......Thanks so much to all of you that have been so nice to me and my family over the years to make them feel at home when around you guys...that means alot to me............what the future holds no one knows..but I know this....the DBL R will grow and will grow in the right way.....and one more thing I know is...I get to warm up each week now and relax before the round....may help may not but boy am I looking forward to that........And again Larry T......you were voted in by your peers, the people who know you and respect you....you can't decline, you have been chosen, and I hope you take on this role for the club as you deserve to be honored by this vote from the members.......as I said before...its an honor to serve this club. And it has been mine for many many years and I hope you feel the same way Larry......As i hope all of you do......

Hope everyone made it home yesterday safe and that all had a good time,,,,Would like to say thank you to Jon and his family for letting us invade....thanks to the club for the drinks and food and great times.....hope to see all soon someplace on the course, so until then I will end with thanks for everything and god bless you all :D:D:D

Ditto Keith - Thanx for the kudos (to yourself & those that will carry the torch forward). LT, if you're really unwilling to be involved in the continued developement & advancement of this club then I guess we have no option than to accept your declination. You were selected & voted in with almost twice the votes of the other 2 nominees, but I understand your position. Plus, you just gave us a new place to work for the by laws - just what we needed. :(

All by laws were accepted with minimal adjustments. Thanx to everyone that took time to participate by nominating members & voting. 28 of our 70 current members voted. Welcome to our 3 newest club members, Rees, Jon D, & Arron (hope you didn't barf in the car). & again a huge thanx to Jon, Jen, & Rocket for having us out. If anything wasn't left right, let me know & I'll have a group of boyz come make things right. Thanx boyz for taking care of stuff out there so that we could go to our show.

Riverside Convetion center is freaking great - one of the best venues I've been to. 1st row at Soulfly is the bomb mfrs!! Anyone know why my abs are killing me? :)

Thanks, but I feel I must decline. I think the club deserves someone who really wants the job and will be available to do it. Still having problems with my knee and I won't be around near as much in the next year. Probably no tournaments and a mini every now and then. I am also on call till I get another permanent day at work. I hope no one takes it the wrong way but I think the club deserves better than someone who will be around every now and then.

Below info from Laura. DOUBLE R ROCKS

Thank you to all of you that helped make the 6th FSO a huge success - sorry to those of you that couldn't make it. Congrats to all the Dragons that made payout & a special woohoo for Mike Peyton's 1st win in Adv Grand Masters & Jerry Lively for donating the basket to the raffle (that he won back). Also a big welcome to our newest club member & our 7th woman ever of 154 ever members - Linda Brown (you can call here Mrs. Carroll).

The 1st 2009 Double R Disc Golf Club open membership meeting was held this past Sunday @ Jon D's house. Thank you to those of you that were able to come & ask questions, provided feedback, & give continued direction to the cabinet. Your ideas help our continued success - our 2nd open membership meeting will scheduled in Aug.

To re cap 2009, the Double R has actively supported a number of area events including - the HOTT Tour, Texas State Pro & Am Doubles, Waterloo Ice Bowl, Texas Women's Championship, Double R Disc Golf Club Bag Tag Challenge, Circle C fund raising, Flying SOLO, LOLO fundraiser, & several others - & run 3 mini's a week (Wed, Sun & Thur).

We designed & were able to have the city of Round Rock install the elevated green for B-hole & have crossings installed @ roadways in OSP - thanks Paul for auto-cad & V for replacement basket. We will continue our efforts with the city of Round Rock & our next project is the re-installation of the South Course in Old Settlers Park. To this end, the club made a bold move Friday morning & made an unbelievable purchase of 9 mach III baskets & 9 tee signs for under $500 - thanks V for the Craig's List listing & Tony P for the ride - WOW!!! This will be a tremendous bargaining tool for our presentation to the city later this month. We hope to have the South Course ready for play by the 2009 Outlaw Singles Shootout in September - we can only make this happen with your help. Contact Edman for details regarding this project @ [email protected]

Other projects in the works are with the Round Rock ISD on the design of a 9 hole course on middle school property & the Pflugerville MUD on a 36 hole complex off Howard contact Lala for information regarding these projects @ [email protected]

These are very busy times for our little club, please do what you can to help when you are able. 5 cabinet members cannot do all of this alone - join a committee, organize a work day, volunteer to work for one of the 4 sanctioned tournaments we help to run a year. Right now we are in need of volunteers for Outlaw's. This includes graphic design work (program layout, tee sign design, shirt & disc artwork, etc.), fund raising, course work, as well as event day help (HQ & course set up & breakdown, check in, score keeper, payout, spotters, etc.). Also contact Edman if you can & want to help in any of these areas. Organizational meetings will be planned in the upcoming weeks.

See you in the fairway,
Lala

Election will close Nov 11th & new cabinet members will be announce Nov 12th.

Hello all & happy holidays! Few things I'd thought you'd wanna know -

1st - yes the ace pot is $1000 again tonight & next wed (if it's not hit tonight - by my family)!! Singles Winter Course (reg 13 basket) LAST CARD STARTS @ 3:45.

2nd - tonight is Christmas @ powling - yes he's checked his list twice (like a score card). Mrs. ET has made 100 meatballs for subs - bring rolls, cheeze, chips, etc. Always good times!

3rd - it's time to renew with the PDGA for 2010. As a club member, you get a $5 discount for doing it with the Double R. I have not received the Club Affiliate Renewal forms to send you yet, but will do as soon as I get them. If you'd like to renew via credit card & want to give me your info & CC #, I'll store them until I get the on line password to enter your info.

4th - it's time to renew your Double R Disc Golf Club membership. $10 to renew due before the end of January to stay eligible for the ace pots, parties, teams, etc. If you joined/renewed since Teams, your membership is good for 2010 - no worries. Club shirts will be ordered next week - same logo (sorry you didn't give me new ones). If you'd like a different clothing item stamped with that logo (dry fit, sweatshirt, etc.) let me know what size & I'll see what I can do. I think tee shirts will be $10, dry fits $20/$25 (depending on what I can get them for) sweatshirts/hoodies $25/$30 (again depending on what I can get them for). All additional requested items must be selected with original shirt order - I'll give you a deadline date next week.

Hope to see you all tonight - if not, the Sunday mini is random draw @ OSP 9:30 start - the ace pot starts @ $30 (thanx Webster).

See you in the fairway!

Lala

If you are a current club member & didn't get this info via e mail, I have a bad address for you. Please submit good contact info to [email protected] Thanx Lala

Sorry if you get this twice, I'm working from 2 lists.

Please join us Monday evening August 2nd, 2110 @ 6:00 @ the OSP pavilion by hole 13 (where we have powling) for an open club membership meeting. Please bring your thoughts, concerns, and ideas on directions you'd like to see the Double R Disc Golf Club moving in the future. The cabinet will be presenting an financial update (ace pots, & expenditures), course updates on new projects (North Town Park & the dblrdgc.com website), and information & needs regarding upcoming Double R events - Outlaws, Club Championships, TX Teams, 2011 TWC, 2011 Women's Nationals. We'll have the grille light, so please bring something to burn while we discuss the past, present, & future of the Double R Disc Golf Club (pot luck, club will not be providing food or drinks). This meeting is open to all club members - past present & future. We'll have a few door prizes - including a club tee shirt with the new logo. We'll also have the last few bag tags & the 1st portion of our Summer merch order, (including 1st run Z Nukes) for sale.

can anyone from the cabinet share information from the cabinet meetings (meeting minutes),

what the current financials are at? The ace pots have been hit within the last 2 weeks & there are no back ups. The club fund is about $2000 with several outstanding bills & approved expenses (merchandise, tee signs, party food, etc.) This will leave us around $0 which is where we like to finish the year.

also what formats we have lined up for the winter course play? Winter coures will be match play until after Teams

and where we see our club heading in the future? Where ever our members are willing to take it - maybe exactly where it is now, maybe back to where we came from - it's entirely up to the membership.

It's time to submit nominations for the new cabinet. Elections are the 1st of November. Keith May & Edman will not be accepting nominations. Please provide any current cabinet member with nominations - make sure the people you nominate want to work with the club.

As your past president I have accomplished many things for the club and hope that the club continues to move in a positive direction. There are many members with plenty of good ideas that can help this club as well as the sport of disc golf grow. I encourage all of you to dig deep and support the upcoming elections by voting for people who best represents all facets of our little club. Much growth over the past few years has brought different members to our club and we have all joined the Double R for various reasons. Some for fun, some for comrodary and some to compete with good players to better there game and become great players. All these people need to be represented as best we can. Your views are important to the cabinet and I hope all of you make the decisions needed to keep us united as one big family. I will be pulling my name out of the hat for being on the board for several years as I get my personal life back into a manageable mode. I once again will be able to enjoy the club and the sport I love so much by stepping down and handing the reigns over. YOUR OPINION MATTERS PLEASE VOTE IN THE UPCOMING CLUB ELECTIONS.

Thanks,
Edman
President, RRDGC member #68

Voting takes place the 1st of November. So far Able, Manny, & JD have accepted nominations. If anyone else is interested in running for cabinet - or you know someone that would help do a great job let a current cabinet member know. Edman & Keith (pres & srgt @ arms) will not be accepting nominations for 2011.

do we know what positions the above 3 people have expressed interest in and I assume all 5 postions are open for re-election? thanks

I'll field that one....taken from the club bylaws:

Section 5 Term of Office & Election Procedures
5.1 Cabinet Officers shall be elected to those offices as established in Article IV by majority vote of the Club membership.
5.2. Open nomination period begins 1 month prior to election date. Existing cabinet members are considered nominated for the position they hold currently unless they request to be removed. Top 4 nominees including existing member will be presented to membership for open election
5.3 All 5 cabinet member positions will be open for election annually each November.
5.4. Election results are to be announce immediately following tabulation of ballots. Newly elected officers shall take office during the December cabinet meeting.
5.5 There will be a 3 month mentoring period & a newly elected officer may be removed from the Cabinet during this mentoring period by a majority vote of the Cabinet excluding the vote of the newly elected member in question.

As far as who has been nominated for what, I don't believe that the current roster is a secret.......

President - JD
Vice President - Abel, Johnee
Secretary - PaulW, Manny
Treasurer - Lala
Sergeant @ Arms - Manny

Hopefully we'll get some more nominations, the more people running, the more incentive there is to vote.

No. You can run for multiple offices, but the by laws state we have 5 officers to enable a tie breaker on votes.

Mike, I'm not sure how that got dropped, I'll add Abel to the ticket as VP & Srgt @ Arms

Thanksgiving is a time to spend with your family & friends. Take a few minutes today to think about you disc golf family & how you can help continue the growth of our club. If you - or someone you know in the club - are willing & able to contribute to the huge year Texas golf has coming in 2011 please consider running for a cabinet posistion. We have the biggest year in Texas disc golf coming with Masters in Huntsville & USWDGC here in Round Rock. This cabinet will need to be stronger & more dedicated than ever before to ensure the Double R Disc Golf Club comes out smelling like roses. Think of how you're able to contibute - even if it's not as a cabinet member - & help keep the name of our club as strong as ever. Keep the passion for growth alive in the Double R.

Nominations are due today @ 2:00. Ballots will be e mailed @ 3:00 & available @ the mini. Election closes next Friday. If you've ever had anything to say about how this club is run - let your voice be heard now run for office & be sure to vote - or shut the hell up for the next 12 months:)

Got an e mail after nominations were closed & ballots were sent that Parker Stevens would also like to be considered for any cabinet position. Please feel free to write in Parker or other confirmed club members (including yourselves).

Confirmed meaning you've talked with them & they're willing to work. Many people have been nominated that are not able to find the time needed to fulfill the obligations - that's why so few names are listed.

I'd like to thank the people that declined for being honest with the club, themselves, and their families as far as the limitations to they have in availabilty to support & lead a club of this size. I hope you are all able to contribute to the huge year we have ahead of us.

It's coming time to renew your PDGA & Double R Disc Golf Club membership. We'll be renewing our CAP (club afiliate program) with the PDGA. This save club members $5 on your PDGA renewal (paying for half your club renewal), provides us this cool thread to post our stuff, provides CTP items to club throughout the year, & allows current members to take the oficials test (to TD a tournament) for free. Paper forms for both (PDGA & club) will be available @ the mini & I'll e mail them to you once I get them.

Please join us in welcoming the 2011 Double R Disc Golf Club cabinet. They have a big year ahead of them, do what you can to support the growth of the sport we all love so much!!

any idea what the ace pot was for sunday?

It was $107 at the end of November. There was no mini the weekend of the Meltdown & then I think there's been 3 mini's since then - Jamie ran one (like 16 people), Tony P (I think) ran one (like 5 people) & Edman ran this past week (7 people). Looks like it should be about $150 or so. I hope to make the mini & MWare can calculate the $ from the papers I have & pay you out (again) to night. Great shot - hope to see some of that ace beer... mmmm beer :)
