TWC is a few months away, but there seems to be confusion on the dates of the tounament.
It is my understanding that it was originally scheduled for Apr 14 and 15th, but because that is Easter weekend, it was pushed to Apr 29-30th. Is this correct? When will the dates be posted on the PDGA tournament schedule?
Also, last year there was a host hotel, will there be again this year?
Thanks!!

I have step away from the board but not my passions.

It is offical TWC is at Cat Hollow on April 29&30. We are working on a redesign for Rivery and could be a part of the mix. But will will have 2 course to play. Last year will be small compaired to this year in number of players and sponsorship. We have a weekend in the schedule that will be in-line with the touring players to attend(weekend after Texas's NT) So it will be another record breaking weekend and a event you ladies will talk about for a long time.
So make your plans!!!

Its on!!!!
We are working on new and old sponsors. And we will exceed last year in sponsorship and numbers of players.
Last year we broke a record of attendance and we will do it again.
I am waiting back on some big name sponsors, but I am calling for sponsors and of course escourts for the weekend.
WHO is stepping up?

Which of you ladies that are planning on attending this tournament would be able to play Open Masters?

If given the choice, would you play Open Masters or Open?

DiscDiva
Jan 20 2006, 10:43 PM
I could play Master, even Grand Master this year, how scary! But will most likely play Open. I like the Texas ladies, Andi, Mel, Danielle and the rest and will most likely hang out there. The final count on pros will determine it, wasn't real huge for pros last year.

And Vinnie, email me so we can discuss sponsorship. Maybe some gift certificates this year? Have a question for you too.

Ladies, the TWC is a good time, check it out! And then be sure to USWDGC on your calendars too!

The Texas Womens Championship

Vinnie Miller & Ed Coffey are proud to present the second year of the TWC. This will be an opportunity for all the lady golfers to gather for a weekend and to determine the best female golfer in Texas. Cat Hollow is a new course to the Round Rock area and will provide a challenging 18 holes. We have also decided depending on the numbers of players to incorporate the newly designed Rivery Park in Georgetown. Both courses will provide a championship venue that will test the skilled player and create a memorable time for all players. This tournament has partner shipped with the American Cancer Society to raise awareness for breast cancer. And all money raised in the raffle will provide the opportunity for the top two open women of Texas residency to attend the United State Disc Golf Championships

Hey ladies - just wanted to get out a little info. The boys from the Double R Disc Golf Club are working this Saturday to dig holes, mix concrete, & set baskets on the new Williamson County Disc Golf Course. This new course will be the second course for our Texas Womens tournament. I watched my boys donate almost all of their skins league payout to pay for the concrete to set the baskets. I guess what I really want to say is if you can come & help Vinnie will post the location & time. You'll be the first to play the course after the baskets are set. What an oppotunity to give back to the men who have done - and continue to do - so much hard work to bring this great event together. Show them some girl power. :D

This Saturday is hauling off trees and finishing walk paths.
Next Saturday is basket install.
directions:Go west on 1431 to county road 175 take right.
Go 1/2 mile park is on right.
Enter park course is accross from the flag poles.
We start work each day at 9am.
Everyone is going to love it!
This putting on a major tournament, installing the second course in two months, working the details of concrete tees at another course, raising two boys, working a full time job and being pretty good golfer makes for a full life. I can't wait to find something else to do. But one thing for sure TWC is going to be great!

Apr 10 2006, 12:12 PM
51 & 1/2 players last year broke the attendance record. but was beat again by the USWDGC. But we are shooting to have 80 in attendance breaking the record again.
As it gets alittle closer I will put a players list.

Apr 10 2006, 02:51 PM
Why offer a division that wasn't offered last year? That just makes for more confusion!! I think that we should leave it up to the tournament dirctor to make those calls? Don't you?

Wammy
Apr 10 2006, 03:34 PM
Because it gives women that play in a certain division a chance to actually compete against other women in their division. If there are enough players interested, might be something to consider.

Apr 10 2006, 03:34 PM
Wow, it was probably just a suggestion...goodness. That sounded a little harsh.

If they have enough that want to play it then I don't see why Vinnie wouldn't offer it.

suemac
Apr 10 2006, 03:52 PM
Sweetheart, obviously you aren't of master age. We might be old but we do know what we have available. If I can round up enough ladies over forty, who want to compete with ladies their own ages, why wouldn't we do it? It's hard to compete with children.

And, are you playing advanced? If not, why difference should it make to you my dear? And BTW, that is the way that it is outlined by PDGA, if we can get four ladies, we get a division, it's as easy as that.

You worry about your game, and I'll worry about mine, agreed?

the_kid
Apr 10 2006, 04:22 PM
Well just because you can get four doesn't mean you automatically get the division but I don't see why it wouldn't be offered at this event.

Christin
Apr 10 2006, 04:40 PM
No i am not of master age....and i don't play advanced usually unless i have no other choice but to...it was just a suggestion from another thread regarding a certain recent tournament about not changing the way things are and how if you do sometimes it can cause some confusion.....not being mean....just making a point. All in innocent fun :D

I am woman, HEAR ME ROAR!

This event is designed to encourage and promote women in disc golf. Therefore, the intent of our grand TD's is to get as many wonderful ladies out to this event as possible. And some might be more interested in attending if there was some "age protected" divisions offered. It gets hard playing against girls half your age.

So, if you know any grannies out there who play, please encourage them to bring out their wheelchairs, walkers, and canes and join in the fun! LOL :D

There's this li'l ole event in SoCal in September that offers a whole bunch of age protected divisions. It's been kind of a secret that the last two years they have also offered Am Divisions.

It's called "U.S. Masters" and it's a PDGA Major. :)

Would it be possible to very soon see a post of the two courses with directions to each. This out-of-towner leaves next Tuesday, doing Houston first. Also which course will be the starting course and what time. A current registration list would also be sweet.

I'd really like to see a registration list before I get offered up by someone to change divisions. No offense to anyone scrambling for divisions, but I'm already playing the BIG girls in Houston. And by the way, THIS grandma (of four) won't be bringing any walker. I may be the queen of neoprene (elbow, knee, ankle), but I can still walk on my own and kick butt. :)

For those of you who love girl stuff... the temporary tattoos just arrived! So if you ever wanted a disc golf tattoo, but didn't want to make the lifetime commitment, now's your chance! I have a whole pack of "You wish you threw like a girl!" stuff that includes a mini, koozie, stickers and tattoos. There will be lots of sleeveless polos, shorts (both knit and denim), cap sleeve tees, new visors, even some shirts for the guys. Whatever I can get done before I leave town next week will be coming with me.

Would it be possible to very soon see a post of the two courses with directions to each. This out-of-towner leaves next Tuesday, doing Houston first. Also which course will be the starting course and what time. A current registration list would also be sweet.

Club sandwishes for Saturday lunch. And Jambalaya for lunch Sunday
The board has been up and down. And my players list is not on me at this time to publish. I am heading to Houston, I will either have the list up tonight or sometime Friday.
I will say 24 signed up and only 6 from Texas.
Trophies are awsome!
The courses are great.
And I have A LOT of stuff to give away.
Players packages value at this time (getting bigger and for ALL players) $50
You all bring it on down.....cause we is getter done!!!

All you Texas gals need to get in gear and sign up for this one. Based on the sponsorship, anyone who plays is likely to walk away with double their entry in players packs and prizes.

Last year this was one of the largest events for women in the world. This year there are more out-of-state players than Texans. How are y'all supposed to show us your Texas hospitality if we outnumber you? :D ;)

Sign up by mail (attn: Vincent miller 2741 b Citation Garfield, Texas 78617) or Friday before at the pavilion located across the street of the course at Cat Hollow. We also have our club mini (Double R) @ Old Settlers Wednesday around 5 @ hole 13 ($3 to play/$7 with side bet, Draw Dubs) - we're not playing this course as part of TWC, but it's a great chance to play a championship style course with a few BA disc golfers (and all around nice guys too). Is there a route between these two courses besides back to the interstate to get back & forth? Are you expecting a large enough field to make the back and forth necessary? Just wondering if all one course one day and all the other the next might be easier on everyone including those coordinating rides, especially if there are conflicting divisions? Plus sponsors running all over and not in one location to facilitate sales. And don't forget the gas prices with all the back and forth. Just some thoughts guys. Keep it fun, not more work and expense for everyone. :D

The Tee time will remain the same!!!((10:[email protected] Hollow)This will continue to focus on the ladies enjoying each other and experiencing a great event, and the ladies climbing the rating ladder will be able to compare their game with the big girls.

Hey guys, thanks for consolidating the divisions and schedule. It is appreciated.

Played Cat Hollow today. The benches that have been added are nice. Couple of questions...
Will the fronts of the tee boxes be marked?
And there will be a port-o-pot, yes? Know you wouldn't leave us out there with out a pot Vinnie. :D

Also played the new course. Got there about one hour after the baskets went in. I suspect that will become a very popular course in the future. Fun course, nice shade for most of it, lots of challenge, not just who can throw the farthest. Really enjoyed it, especially since I had the park supervisor as a tour guide. He wanted to walk the course and see it played. Great guy, really wants it to be a good course that people will like. They were even adding flowers at the bridge this afternoon. :)

They are on their lunch break at the TWC right now. All my women think they played well but they don't know exactly where they stand because there is not a leaderboard.

They are playing two rounds at Cat Hollow today because the other course was a little flooded from the storms last night. It is windy, but otherwise a beautiful day.

Some am division updates. In Rec Kira tied Lori for first and they have a playoff starting right now. In Intermediate Diana hung on for the win there. These divisions are only playing three rounds. In advanced Kelsey won her card at Wilco and is now in second, two throws back, but I forgot who was in first. I think it was Ginger. It is still pretty close.

Go Kelsey! Go Kira! Git 'r done!

Thanks to the escorts and all the caddies. You guys ROCK! This is an event that every girl should play...it is just too much fun to miss out on.

Thanks Vinnie and Ed for putting on such a great event. I know there were a few quirks and unfortunate last minute changes, but overall, my experience was wonderful, and I had an amazing time. This was my first ever all ladies tournament, and I would definitely recommend this tournament next year...I WILL be back! I met some awesome chicasSuemac, Kat, Michellejust to name a few! The prizes, payouts, and raffles were awesome. Thanks to Efrain, Jamie, and JD for adding an extra $50 CTP for the Open ladies. And the CTP throw off for a HOT PINK Revolution Bag.that was definitely the highlight of my weekend!!! I didnt get one, but thanks Emily for making some killer trophies! Theyre beautiful.

Thanks to my wonderful caddie Jamie who stuck with me all weekend, even through my not so good rounds. I had an absolute blast during that last round. Thanks for helping me FINALLY relax and just play golf!

Congrats to my Twisted Sister Courtney Peavy for her wineven after the rough start to the Sunday morning round! By the way, we would like to thank the men in the Walmart parking lot who supplied us with a Slim Jim and helped us unlock the car without breaking the window!

Congrats to Stephanie Cantrell for her first ever ace!!! Great shot, chica! Hope you enjoy the TWISTED FLYER gear!

Hope to see yall in Tulsa for the 2006 Amateur World Championships in July. Also, look forward to hearing details soon about the upcoming all ladies tourney that we will be hosting in Oklahoma in September!!!!!

The first set of pictures are up at LSDGA.com (http://www.lsdga.com/images/twc/twc.html)
Click on a thumbnail to see the large picture.

There are still a little over 100 pictures from Saturday afternoon that I need to get off of my memory card, but I am having some hardware issues. There are some really good shots I can't get over to my computer.

I hope that I'm able to get the shots from Saturday afternoon up. The lighting was much better Saturday than it was Sunday. No clouds made the shadows on everyone's faces much deeper than they were on Saturday.

I know this is probably a silly question since we didn't even get a player's list posted before the tournament...but...scores please? I was so excited about winning my hot pink Revolution bag that I didn't even check to see where I finished.

Great pics Gary, thanks for all you did for the ladies. Maybe we can start the picture taking tradition for years to come. :p
I've finally found time to hit this board and thank all of you that were a part of this event. Players and Staff thank you.
I want to start with Jamie Callis and John Hovey. 2 stand up guys that took everything we through at them all weekeend, even though we had a couple of quirks these guys made the really bad not so bad. They don't know it yet but they are official TWC staff members. :D
Erron(i hope i'm spelling his name correctly) from the soutside stepped up huge as well and his posse from the other land we like to call it. See the north can get along with south. I can't believe I'm saying it, Soutside Rocks! He's another one that has been recruited.
I can't remember a tournament that me and V have run or been a part of that we didn't have to bust our butts at getting the courses ready to play. We should(fingers crossed) be done with doing that in the future for TWC. It took vital time away from both of us, which kept us on fully focusing on the tournament. Those days are gone. Next year will be different. For those who have expierenced it 1 or 2 times now, I promise to you now that we will blow you away next year. It's the little things that make any tournament run smooth. We will be focused on those for next year. If you don't plan on being there next year you will miss out, trust me, we have 2 years under our belt now and the 3rd will be our CHARM for all of you ladies.
Congrats to all the winners and those that placed. Good TImes TWC '07.
Me and V have a appreciation dinner planned in the upcoming weeks for those that helped. This is also our first meeting for plans for TWC '07. Remember, thank us by coming back and bringing a friend(make sure it's somebody you can beat or in a different division) :D
V said for '06 bring it because we are, now I'm saying it. Bring it on ladies...

Melissa
May 04 2006, 09:11 PM
Again, I want to thank Jamie for caddying for me 3 of 4 rounds at TWC '06. You're the greatest! Maybe we can do it again next year...I don't want to take any chances on gettin' stood up by one of the Salazar boys! :D

There is one at the entrance to Old Settler's park (off 79 in Round Rock). So you would basically be staying at a disc golf course, just not the right disc golf course. :D But Cat Hollow is only a few miles from there.

A: The Old Settlers' RV Park is managed by the Old Settlers Association. Call 512-388-1733 for information.

I am going to work on getting any out of town ladies a place to stay if they are interested. We have a good number of local girls who would love to open their homes. Will be back with that info next week.

Also, Vinnie got engaged this past weekend!!!! He's working on getting us updated, and should be posted shortly.

I am working with Rick Danger and FlyNHigh.com on the players packages again, so our goodies should ROCK!

I showed SuperGirl (Nicole) the pictures and scores posted from the TWC. She really wishes she could have been there. When I showed her the pictures of the Jr. girls, she loved it! She thought is was cool that there are several girls her age now playing disc golf in Texas:

Makayla 11
Gabbie 10
Carlie 11
SuperGirl is 11
and SuperGirl's friend London is 11

London has only been playing for about 6 months, however London shot a personal best 100 at Agnes Moffit during league play last week.

She also thought is was cool that Regan 5, & Zoe 7 were starting disc golf at such a young age.

Lastly she thought is was great that a 13 year old girl from Live Oak (Ashlie) played in this year's TWC.

When you add the awesome Paige Pierce (15 yrs old ?) to the mix, it looks like there is a good future for ladies disc golf in Texas.

Thanks...........Rick
