The meeting with Georgetown went great!!!!
They like the holes and are ready to roll. I finalize Monday a work day for next weekend.
The city is bringing the machines and paying for the concrete.
We have to plant the new pin postions and haul trees out the fairways. Bottom line the next 4 weeks will be busy for Ed and I. We will make an announcement of times and needs durning the week. Maybe we can come up with refreshments for the helpers. We will keep everyone posted.

Waterloo will do everything we can to encourage folks to come to Rivery to help.
Due to some unfortunate timing, we are having a small, small workday that saturday at Zilker, but we are just asking for 7-8 folks. We are requesting that everyone else go out to Rivery. (and if extra folks show up that morning, we'll send 'em your way)
Good luck, it sounds like Rivery will be getting even better.

since V won't post on here for some reason:
I-35 will be closed at 1325 this weekend find atlernative route.
Sure hope there is more disc golfers there than city workers
does this mean if you are coming from 1325 to i35 that you will run into traffic? would taking mcneil all the way around be the best way to miss this?
BeTheMachine
Jan 20 2006, 02:54 PM
oh.
and are we playing golf too or just working and playing somewhere else?
vinnie
Jan 20 2006, 03:12 PM
I-35 will be closed
I would take 183 to the back side of Georgetown or 685 (cameron road) to the east side of Dell diamond and back road(if headed west on 79, take right before the new HEB) it to Georgetown.
And there will be golf afterwards
BeTheMachine
Jan 20 2006, 03:26 PM
but if you take mcneil from 1325 and go left it loops all the way around and hits 35 north of the 1325 interchange. Is this part of the freeway going to be closed as well?

The gate will be open or you can drive a little past the Wendy's on Rivery rd and you'll see asphalt against the curb to drive over. Take a right there and follow down to the pavillion at hole 4. 9am breakfast served, we'll brake for lunch and get back after it. Thanks to all for making it out. Thanks Waterloo.

The work day went great! And the city has continued the work by working all this week on the course. The improvements to the course area grear addition to the all ready tight holes. This will, in my opinoun, be a favorite course of all.

We are hoping to have the baskets moved in 2 weeks.

Things are going ahead of schedule on the Rivery redesign. The city has mulched 95% of what was cut by us as well as them. We have one hole left to cut, the 666' hole that joins back with original course. I will post tomorrow work day details for the 4th and 11th. If we get the OK tomorrow there is no reason we couldn't have the rest of the trees done as well as baskets set by the 11th. We will need lots of help. Stay tuned.

Rivery is done for the most part!
A new course is going in on 1431
And the Rock needs concrete.
I am writing up an agreement with the city to ensure liability of installation of concrete is my responsibility.
This will be done this week.
So instead of 4 people sacrificing all their time to improve the place where EVERYONE plays. Lets hear what you can do.
I will go ahead and maintain a list of action items and the whos are responsible for the action items.
BUT THATS IT!
So lets find out who really cares.

A new course is slotted to be done at the end of this month in Williamson County. I was given the grand tour and I have to say this will be a great addition to the area.
The course is covered in BIG oaks and is a Houck design. The county has done the majority of the work and very close to completion. This Saturday will be your opportunity to see their product. We need people to show up and help haul cut limps off and line walking paths with rocks. The baskets are bought and next week the holes will be dug. So we will sink the baskets the following Saturday.
Directions: from IH35 go west on 1431 and take a left at county rd 175, the park is on the right. Go in main entrance, the course is across the street of the flag poles.
Park in the lot just down from the flag poles.
Time: 9:00am and we need bodies with gloves and some loppers.
The city will have gators and hand tools we need.
Williamson community service will bring some people out, but we need people.
Pm me if you can make it, I need to have a head count

Maybe if you were a liitle more apreciative the people who can - and did - make it out, you might get a little more support in the future. Also - just for the argument - "U" did not alter the Rivery, Put on a ladies tournie, add 3 holes to the Rock, bring a doubles tournie back to the Rock, etc... we all did - as a club. Maybe the cabinet has not been as involved in these issues as we'd hoped for, but our members where there with help & support and together we all made those things happen. This club is a family, and maybe some of your brothers & sisters are done listening to you rant about the lack of support that "U" get. We all work hard - at our real jobs, at golf, & at our family life - so take a **** minute to step back and see what we do have instead of what you think we need to have. I think everyone gives what they can to this club. Is it enough? It can never be enough - we all want it to be perfect. Could it be better? Sure - it can always get better. But let's stop all this whining about what we don't have yet & keep moving towards our common goal (I thought that was making the Double R the strongest disc golf comunity out there - may be I'm the one who's out in left field?).

Had a blast today helping you guys and gals work on this course. Wish I could've hung around and played it for the first time with all of you, But I'm back on the road again. I'll definitly come back in a few weeks and play this course for sure. This course in gonna be Swweeeettt!!! I'd say it will most likely be one of the nicest courses in the area. Just the right amount of technical traits to not be discouraging, but tight enough to get into a little trouble off the fairways. Thanx to Williamson county and alot of Hard work from locals, this will be a beautiful course to play when finished. Thanx for the lunch Lala, that ruled..Hope to make it back out there ASAP..
Laters for now and see you all at States next weekend..

I've heard two different directions to get there. 35 to 1431 to 175(sam bass). The directions on the site said turn left on 175(south), someone else told me to take a right(north) on 175. Which way is it north or south.
seewhere
Apr 16 2006, 08:56 PM
from 35 take 1431 to your left than take 175 to your right course in on the right. coming from parmer go to 1431 turn right on 1431 than left on 175 course is on the right. southwestern is in the park name somewhere. we can call it "south W park"

Wilco STILL has not got the sign and the rain is keeping them off the course. Steve told me this week for sure on getting the sign. (The sign is the only thing keeping it from opening.I made it clear we need a week's notice. So the disc golf folks can make a good showing for the grand opening.
Hole C at the Rock has a nice cut and will stay this way( We should get out there and clean up them trees up in the fairway)
No responce from the legal department as of yet on the tee pads.
I put in a call this morning AGAIN.
All fails I will be there tommorow at 8:00am to corner them and get this going.

Can't wait till this gets in the ground for good. Hopefully they will have it in the ground this weekend, as soon as it is I will be doing a mini every Friday @ 5:30. It will be singles. I will move it back later if we can finish before dark. Ams will be paid in plastic, I will be looking for RR members that still have some they want to get rid of, so please see me Wednesday if you have some you want to sell. I need gas $ for Tulsa. I'm thinking $8 across the board, $5 payout, $2 ace, dollar for the box.
