Actual Aces on #8 = 1

Jody, Jody, JODY...
Once again, let's review. :D

Hole 8, City Park, Live Oak, Texas
180 feet
Wide open entry to basket, water ~10 feet behind basket.
Typical wind is tailwind, from the right shoulder.

The hole screams for a putter (or maybe a midrange) thrown a little high for float. Disc runs at the basket and stays dry. No driver, no roller, just a simple, pure shot.

:)

If you have lost a disc in any of the water try looking at Nick's sporting goods in the used department.

it is just past the trees about 6-8 feet that you would hyzer under from playing the tee box on the right. I hit the trees than it kicked me right into the water about 8ft past the trees and 8 feet in the water by the bank. kinda .. flick is no where near as stable as the extreme. It might be for your weenine arm.. :o

If it is 8 feet into the water then you'll likely not be getting that disc back.

6-8 ft if that. it would have been dry if the water was not so high...maybe once noah gets his ark out of that pond the water will do down. any help is greatly appreciated.

This might offend someone or more than someone, but here goes.

I was in Nick's the other day looking to at their 'used' disc collection. On the back of about 80% of those discs were names and phone numbers. I got two of those discs because I knew the players and have since contacted them. My main concern or grip is that what 'we' call our discs are now being sold to others. There have been many discussions on this board about people who find discs in the water or other places and do not try and get the discs back to the owners.

My question is this...Is Nick's selling stolen merchandise?

I talked with the lady in the store and she indicated that she had no intentions to get the discs back to the rightful owner. I told her what many of the 'Play It Again Sports' do and how they handle the lost disc problem. I even suggested that she start something like this and in this manner she would have customers who came in to claim their disc and be a shopper also. She did not seem interested.

The discs are $2 each and I do not mind paying a 'finder' see for my lost discs if I am contacted about it, but I do mind that they are selling discs that have other peoples names on them with contact info. I got the two that I wanted and I am getting them back to the owners, that is what I do for friends. I also understand that they are the only shop in the area that sells discs with the exception of Academy, and that we are trying to support them in this endeavor, but until this policy changes on their part I will not grace their premises again. If this policy changes, then I will be back.

Maybe if other go in and talk to them about getting these discs back to the rightful owners with a 'finders fee' attached then they will change this policy. Maybe they need a lost and found box also, again this was not well perceived on their part.

Disc On
Paul

What?,... No lost and found box,... Hmmmm,...
$2.00 or a 6pack,.... still seems like a ransom no matter how you read it. :(

Grog
Aug 22 2007, 06:26 AM
Not really. A six pack usually leads to another round of chunking some plastic, which in turn leads to more lost discs, which leads to another sixer, which---

It's more like a circle of life!

I would gladly buy more friends a six pack for a returned disc than support a business that would sell mine or a friends disc to some one else.

In the 2 1/2 years of playing dg I've lost dozens of discs. Only one was ever returned, and it was a custom dyed job that I received as a birthday gift from my son.(Thanks again John and Blue). I have received phone calls from about 5 people saying their kids found one. So their are honest people out there. My reply to them is let the kids keep it, go buy a few more for yourself, go back to the park, and spend some more time with your kids and enjoy yourself.

It's not the 2 bucks that irks me, I've probably replaced the disc already anyway. It's more the fact that Nick's made claim to supporting the disc golf community, when in turn it seems more like they are looking for a cheap supplier.

A disc was given to me a couple of weeks ago. I am just now finally getting through the last of the boxes from Abilene that I brought back to town.

Star TL, yellow 168 with the initials DJ on it. It has a San Antonio phone # on it, but it does not work. It was found in near the creek at Will Hair Park.

Give me a shout if this is yours or you know wo this belongs to.
