Maybe putting a few Baskets in a Prison yard would be good for some of the population there.

To me it makes more sense rather than having a yard full of Barbells and dumbells. Turning many of these inmates into bulked up weightlifting monsters ready to explode on each other and the general population when they are Paroled. It has always been a potentially dangerous sitiuation to society !! :(

I think Disc Golf would be very therapeutic and potentially rehabilitative to some of these inmates.
Teaching them patience as well as sharpening up their decision making skills. And keeping their bodies limber and strong in a more subtle way than pumping iron..

Wondering if the PDGA could set up a Prison Tour with some of the top DG Pros. They could give clinics and do some consulting with the Prison Wardens in setting up some small scaled DG Courses in Federal Prisons.

Could you imagine some of the quality of Putters that would be produced among a Prison population??
Many of them are there for years and they would have all day and everyday to concentrate on practicing.
Watch out Climo and Schultz , Scott Peterson could be coming after you in the Grandmasters Division in 30 yrs or so /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Since when do they parole death row inmates ?

Actually I think it is a good idea. Inmates do have alot of time to think. Who knows, if we get several thousand inmates addicted to disc golf you may get a few that come up with a good effective (and hopefully legal) solution to our marketing and sponsorship challenges when they get out.

The only downside would be if some of the tour players get unwanted boyfriend/stalkers years later when these guys get turned loose.

They don't allow frisbees in NY state prison system. People can use frisbees to throw over fences and send messages, outside people can attach keys and stuff on them and throw to prisoners.

Coming back to Denver from Gillette, WY a month ago a friend and I had car trouble. A man and his dad picked us up to help us out. When asked what we're doing we said coming back from a disc golf tournament. The old man said "What?" and the son says "You know dad, disc golf." Well few non-discgolfers have ever heard of it so I asked him how he knew about disc golf and he said he learned about it in 'the pen'. Apparently it is a non contact safe prison activity. Not sure where it was he did time but disc golf in prison is happening.

I don't think prison should be turned into a playground. These slime balls have murdered and raped people and robbed banks, and some are even marijuana paraphernalia pushers and sold water pipes.

Can you imagine how many different ways that Death Row inmates could use discs as weapons?

I can hear the TD at the player's meeting..."Ok, everybody, the two meter rule is not in effect. Over the fence is OB."

The main person of the local club...MOODGolf (http://mysite.verizon.net/resohppf) is a corrections officer at a prison, and some of the inmates have helped make mini baskets for trophies :ocoolest things I've seen.

They should be on death row if they sold pipes for the killer weed

Look at Chong. Do you think a man like that should be allowed to live?
