I forgot all about the frozen ice tea.

How about a mesh half shirt with his name lettered on the back of it. Afterall he is Norman's newest PRO MASTERS player!!!!

PS: Neck Cooler is know as an "Ice Hooter" - something about the way it is rolled. :D

Dig,

Why is it that everyone despises Colonial?

chrispfrisbee
Apr 30 2005, 05:05 AM
You'll get no reply from the Digger on here directly. I have to print the questions out and bike messenger them over. He ponders for awhile then dispenses his wisdom, then I post! It's a two to three day process. BUT.. to answer your question, the reason why most people don't like Colonial is because of the stinky creek... They don't like throwing in it or getting their disc out or paying a kid to do it for them. Not to mention the time it takes to locate lost discs. Then the reasons go down from there, poor design, high pedestrian traffic, clunky bricked and blocked run-up style tee pads, O.B. on every hole, poor design, leaning baskets, leaning benches, diapers floating in the creek, the snapping turtle!!, rickety foot bridges, rubber glove man, food stamp kids on bikes that steal your discs, smokin pot on every hole, poor design, broken glass in the water, that SMELL and did I mention poor design?.... I think that covers it. Did I leave anything out? THE GOOD NEWS. Colonial could be a cool course. I loved it when I was learning to play. It was a different layout then. The course needs to be redesigned. I think it was originally a nine or 12 hole course.

I cleaned up at Lions today. All the trash cans are full, so I couldn't move the one to the next hole. I gotta go back to KS tomorrow, but I'll be back for Mitch Mac's.

Maybe you should put up some more throw the trash away signs, or recruit people to help keep the courses clean. They look so much better when there's not a whole bunch of crap layin around. I'm fixin ta move down here and clean up these OK courses and make em even better.
Maybe the name should be Toto the trash-picker-upper or somethin.

Steve tells me you guys get on here when you're working. Is that true? I'm jealous. I still don't have a job, especially one where I can just play on the puter while I get paid. I've been trying to get more women playing for the past 4 years. I don't know if they're too fragile or wimpy or what, but a lot of girls don't think they can play. Shelly & I are working on the master plan to get the girls playing. I've been looking at stuff from the (W)PDGA promoting the sport for women. I've also been talking to some women in Kansas City about how they promote their women's league. Maybe, I can be "Toto, KS rep of SDG (not in KS anymore)/ OK course cleanup crew/ DG heroine (for getting lots of women to play)". That's the plan. :p

I think Chris is just a little upset at the fact that the NDGA flyer in the Colonial Park Message Board was removed within a couple of days and replaced by an SDG flyer and the lock was changed out. The only people with keys to the old lock are King, Chrisp, and myself. Chris talked to King about this and the old lock will be put back on.

I personally think that having two disc golf clubs in Norman is ridiculous. You have three courses and two clubs, lets get real. Its SDG vs DPG (Dannie/ChrisP Golf).

You (DPG) lost the elections and now are succeeding from the union and starting your own club. WHY??? You have to support the majority or else your parlimentary procedure is all out the window. I have been to those Monday meetings and I know what is going on.

I think that is is a real pussycat move to undercut King online becasue you know that he will not be here to defend himself.

With a charitable donation of $40.00 to the NDGA, citizens will be able to "sponsor" a bench at N.E. Lions Park in Norman, OK.

How about some benches at Griffen(where they are needed) You do not need to put benches at Lions, that would be a waste of $$$. If I still lived there we would never put another dime into Lions park. It is ideal as is. and it already has benches on almost every hole(all but 2); Griffen Park has none.
Get those Am tees put in out at Griffen while you're at it you DG snobs. :o Try promoting the sport like your Mission Statement says you hypocrites.

<font color="red">DISCLAIMER </font> Dannie and ChrisP are 2 of the best TD's that I have ever witnessed. The NPA and 05 OK States were two of the best ran and well reported tournaments that I have ever participated in.
You had scores posted online with round ratings before you even left the course for cryinout loud. These two did most of the work at both of these events. I will definately be at the GPO welcome or not.

Both of you put a lot of time and energy into the sport, lets think about what you're doing and what would be best for it; not you.

danniestacey
Feb 16 2006, 11:28 AM
There are actually three clubs. From what I have been told another group of former SDG members are doing there own thing as well.

If you are going to say that its SDG vs DPG lets get the facts straight. Its King vs DPG :D. Most of our problems were from the fact that the membership would vote on something and for some reason the exact opposite would happen (if anyone wants examples please call or email me). No matter how many times we brought this up, it continued to happen. SDG did not have a problem with the way myself, Chris, and Kerrens ran the club because we did not do anything unless it was voted on. If it was voted on and we did not like it we sucked it up and supported the vote like any member should. One instance of this was when we voted on courses for States. I voted no for Colonial, but the majority voted yes. The majority also said that a lot of work needed to be done before it was ready. I was one of 6 people to show up at the first work day at Colonial and did everything King asked of me since he was the course rep in charge of the work day.

You (DPG) lost the elections and now are succeeding fro the union and starting you own club. WHY???

We did not lose the election; I was elected, Chris was elected, and so was Andy. It is true that we waited until after the elections. We wanted to see if any changes would be made. At the November meeting we voted the nominations could be made until 5:00 pm on Monday, November 28th. After this date Chris would have until Wednesday to confirm the nominations with those that were nominated and then members who could not attend the Dec 5th meeting could send in there absentee votes. That gave people three weeks to nominate someone. At the deadline the only people nominated were myself, Chrisp, Andy Barnett, and Kerrens Sharp. At 6:30 pm King shows up at Bobby's house where Chrisp is at and asks about the nominations. After that King nominated himself, mitch, and snake. This was done after deadline in which King voted on. Why these nominations were accepted is beyond me. Chrisp called snake and he declined the nomination and chrisp could never get a hold of mitch. On the night of the meeting King acted as if there was never a vote and actually accused Chrisp of changing the minutes.

I think that is a real pussycat move to undercut King online because you know that he will not be here to defend himself

If you don't want a response then don't ask me. People have asked questions and we have explained the situation. There is nothing I won't say here that I wouldn't say in front of King. With that being said, I like King. I love playing disc golf with him and he does a lot of work for the disc golf community. I just don't agree with his leadership style or ideologies. But that doesn't stop me from wanting to be friends with the guy. Running a club is hard to and just because someone votes different then I do doesn't mean I take it personally.

I have been to those Monday meetings and you cannot fool me. I know exactly what is going on.

I don't understand this statement. It might directed at someone else or from another thread. You and I have personally talked at these meetings about what goes on. I know your feelings and you know mine.

What is wrong with someone stepping up and trying to improve a course. The city of Norman is paying for NEW benches at Griffin, while it is taking a little longer then they originally said it would. But they will come and so will tee pads. The city has done a great job with their support and I am sure it will continue well into the future.

The bottom line is that we were not having fun. If your not having fun then there is no part of being a part of it. There were a large number of people not having fun and we decided to start are own club and so has another group of guys. We wish the best of luck to all of them. Why does it matter how many clubs there are? It doesn't matter if we never have more then 20 members, as long as those members are having a good time and supporting the disc golf community.

Try promoting the sport like your Mission Statement says you hypocrites.

Again, what are you talking about?

Thank you for compliments. You are definately welcome at GPO and any other event we run. If anyone has any questions they can call or email me.

chrispfrisbee
Feb 16 2006, 01:33 PM
First of all, King sees everything that we put on this board. People print it out and give it to him. I think it's a joke that it is the year 2006 and King doesn't have an e-mail account!

He griped about me (behind my back) about the comments I made about the Tour De DiscGolf to Wammy about bringing her daughter out to MitchMac's. Obviously, he thinks I was talking about him specifically. I was not. I just said that people would be smoking pot out there.

Second, we didn't lose the elections. Andy, Dannie and myself are all like minded people so, we had a majority vote with the officers. Most of the club members (SDG) are good people with solid opionions, they just weren't the ones showing up at meetings. The SDG meetings became about ******** and alcohol. They didn't want to change that. Also, Steve King cannot be trusted with club merchandise, money, or to run a tournament. He was supposed to be the Head TD at STATES, the only thing he really did was the AM payout and he had YARDSALE helping him and they screwed that up BIGTIME. We came to the conclusion that it would be best to just avoid the HUGE headache in dealing with Steve King and start a club and do it the RIGHT way.

Steve started SDG by himself a few years back. When I came along SDG had zero current members, zero money in the club funds (Steve's wallet) and zero merchandise, and zero Sanctioned Tournaments administrated.

After Dannie and I got involved things started to change. When we left SDG here's what we left Steve.

$900+ Cash
$500+ Merch
60 Current Members
2 Sanctioned Tourneys Run

SIDENOTE: Thank you for your compliments on our TD skillz!!!

On the benches, I'm just trying to make it where we have benches where we need them as well. Colonial is getting ready for a facelift by the City and Griffins benches are on the way from the City as well. Lions has no budget from the City. Also, the city plans on taking out some of the benches that are unsafe that KING put out there. Example, hole 18's sawhorses for a bench?

Having AM pads at Griffin has nothing to do with promoting the sport of disc golf. If people want to play AM friendly courses go somewhere else, if you want to be challenged, play Griffin. BTW, at least our club HAS a Mission Statement :o

Jake, I would never dislike you because of your opinion. I appreciate that you bring it, and stand behind it. I just think you are not close enough to the situation down here to really understand what's going on. We're dealing with alot of criticism right now from people that just observe our actions from afar and are confused/offended. It will all settle out in the near future.

The little bit I know about people out there it is a shame that you cant find a middle ground ( of which I hope you do ) .
I appriciate what King has done on the courses ( N.E Lions had NEVER looked better then it did last year at the norman pro am )
I also know that Chrisp ( and the Mrs ) and Danny did a great job of running the Norman Pro AM last year .

I do have to ask who is running the norman Pro am this year ?

danniestacey
Feb 17 2006, 10:07 AM
SDG is running the Pro/Am. Things are not bad down here. There have been no conflicts or arguements since the split. The only place it gets brought is here on the board. I consider us all to be friends and hope to continue to do so. I am sure the Pro/Am will be great like always.

The question is whether or not Mitch will play Open in the Pro/Am. I say this because the winner of the Snowball for the last five years has gone on to win the Pro/Am, and since he won this years Snowball history shows that he is a lock. No pressure though :D

chrispfrisbee

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think either club is expecting support or membership. The separation of the club members in Norman was a premeditated decision based on an election result for full controll on course development and tournament running activities. Neither club is looking for support or ideas.

I'm not sure anyone really understands the effect this has had in Norman.

Support disc golf not disc golf clubs.

That is COMPLETELY untrue.

The split was pre-meditated but not for control of courses or tournaments. The Pro/Am still is going to be run by SDG this year. The reason for the split was because the people that did the work/organizing weren't going to put up with King's BS.
The membership of SDG either didn't see/care what was going on or have enough cajones to vote King out of a leadership position. He surely wouldn't step down, even if it would make things better.

The NDGA totally expects support and memberships.

The NDGA is also totally open to peoples ideas, concerns, and should be a vehicle to allow people to "step-up" and contribute.

One of the BEST ways to support the sport is to support your local disc golf clubs.

The split has un-doubtedly caused divisions in it's members. This was one of the only ways most of us could see a positive change being made. There was definitely some collateral damage.

Personally, I'm over the whole split and all of the crap that went on. I'm ready to forgive and forget and MOVE FORWARD!

We now have a club in Norman where the membership decides what happens, there will be consequences if what the members want does not happen, and the members can depend on the officers to serve them with dependability and accountability.

This will be my last post on this subject. I was just responding to comments made. I'm just ready to move on.

... hiya guys ...
.
... ... this Wednesday (Apr.4th) ; I'll get to Haikey about 6pm ... I'll carry xtra diggin' tools ... mainly need some "strength" ( as in our player-Volunteers ) to help ... depending on evening turn-out ; we'll pull up 'n' re-plant a couple of holes / tee-signs ... I'm thinking that you'll all like the results ...
.
.
... many thanks in advance ...
.
.
.
... the really key "work-day" at Haikey is this Saturday (8th) ... we're tweakin' the Layout around a bit ... looking to create some more of "your favorite holes" into the flow ... come visit -and- help out if you get the chance ...

... then we'll give her a "test-run" with a "Warm-Up" Event on the following Saturday (15th) ... Flyer at www.tulsadiscsports.org (http://www.tulsadiscsports.org) ... heres' a coupla d-tails :

All Divisions welcome (from beginner all the way up to Open Pro)

All Genders welcome (but only if you bring a smile on your face) :)

2 rounds of (at least) 18-holes each

non-PDGA

Entry fee = $20 ... includes :
$15 into pay-out (cash-Pro's / prizes-Am's)
$1 into Ace-Pot (cash for all)(must be hit or thrown-off)
$4 into the "New Tee-Signs" for Haikey (hope to complete about a month after we know the Course Layout)
.
.
... take a li'l drive over ... let your friends & buddies know ... bring your kids & Juniors to play ... and we always want the Ladies to play ... some of you gals in the area received "AmWorlds Invites" -or- got on the Entry "Waiting List" ... these are "pretty" sure bets to play this July ; but stop over here early and see "where your game is" ... and what shots you'll want to work on ... a good practice run for 2 rounds ...
.
.
.
... personally , without running a "Haikey Creek Classic" this year ; this one-day may feel like the closest thing ...
.
... hope to see you there ...

There will be a chainstar portable basket being given away this weekend at the World's Biggest in Tulsa.. Make sure you're there. We will be playing Kelly Lane Park in Sapulpa. This is the toughest 9 hole course you will ever play.

You can win it if your not in it!..

All procedes go to the Family, (children) of Denny Reeves.
Denny was an amazing guy that took time from his own comittments to come from Fayetteville to Tulsa so that he could give his time to our club for Worlds.
Now it is our turn to give to Denny's children, step up people.

Sorry if this is considered a thread drift.

I am trying to locate a couple of guys who dive for lost disc, as in lost in water disc.

I met them at Blackhawk a few weeks ago. They seemed really nice and I purchased a few of their recent finds.

He told me I could contact him at [email protected]

That email came back as undeliverable.

Does anyone know how to contact these guys????

Thanks....
