Position Title: Software Engineer (Back End, Remote)

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the promotion and sustainable growth of disc golf, sanctioned over 8,900 disc golf events in 2022. The PDGA is headquartered in Appling, Georgia, and serves as the international governing body for the sport of disc golf. The PDGA seeks a skilled Software Engineer who loves the sport of disc golf to help design and develop the next generation of web-based mobile and desktop applications for event directors, competitors and fans of disc golf around the globe.

Reports to: Director of Technology

Position Responsibilities

• Creating software for disc golfers and disc golf organizers
• Writing testable and performant code in modern PHP
• Working with MySQL relational databases
• Collaborating with a small team of Engineers and Designers
• Developing pdga.com, the PDGA Live app and the PDGA Digital Scorecard
• Developing APIs
• Modernizing legacy software

Essential Qualifications

• A minimum of 2+ years of experience
• Proficiency with server-side languages such as PHP, Python or Ruby
• Proficiency with relational database technology such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Proficiency with writing tests and testable code
• Experience with Laravel, Symfony, Rails or other modern web frameworks

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience or interest in disc golf
• Experience with DevOps
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• Degree in Computer Science
• Understanding of user interaction and user experience design
• Experience or interest in statistics
